One of Utica's PTCAS supplemental questions is: "Utica College is located in a small city (60,000) in upstate New York, approximately 4 to 5 hours from major cities such as New York, Boston, Toronto and Montreal . The area around the city is mostly rural in nature with the southern foothills of the Adirondack Mountains beginning just north of the city. As a PT student interested in Utica College, what would you say would be the advantages and disadvantages of attending graduate school at a small school (approximately 2,300) in an area like ours?"

What the hell is one to say to this?

Say how you feel? It's a pretty easy question, and one you need to answer for yourself, not go onto a forum looking for the correct answer to (hint: there isn't one). This is one of those questions where the school is trying to make sure they will be good fit for you.

Have you ever been to Utica? Even if you haven't, all the info you need is right there in the question. Kinda a rust-beltish middle of nowhere CNY city. It isn't Boston/NYC/Toronto/Montreal. You don't get world class entertainment every night of the week. It isn't all that pretty. There aren't tons of businesses or hospitals. But there's some cool outdoor opportunities you won't get in major cities.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of these characteristics. Go.
