Any UTKers out there feel like sharing their point totals for phase one evaluation of their application? I'm trying to figure out where I stand. I'm retaking my GRE once or twice before the Jan 15 deadline but hope to get enough points to get me to around 125 out of the 157 max. :xf: THANKS!!

Well, since there are no takers😉, anyone know what their point cut off has been in the last few years?

When I did my post mortem with dean brace back in march he said the average cut off for phase one was 90-ish, so you should be fine. 🙂

GREAT!! Thanks so much for the reply! Hopefully we'll both get in this cycle!

This doesn't really answer your question because I did not apply here but I did try and add up my points wayyy back in summer. Did anyone else get screwed over by this part of it?

#6 Average course load per full term (at least 12 credit hours) successfully completed will be assigned points as follows:
15 hours = 1 18 hours = 4
16 hours = 2 19 hours = 5
17 hours = 3 20 hours = 6

I took a class every summer and some winters so that I could decrease my work load during the regular school year while I worked more for $$ 🙂 I realized after I graduated a lot of schools see if you can handle heavy course loads and I feel like I unintentionally lowered myself by doing this even though it doesn't mean I had any bad grades. :scared: I wish someone had told me about this as an undergrad!

I only have like 115 so you're good to go. Are you an in-state student for UT, Highlsnds3? Do the points include the fall transcript?

Because I am a nerd who loves numbers and is fascinated with the admissions process, and I love how transparent UTK's process is in particular, I calculated what my point total would be even though I didn't apply: 113.33. I have no idea why that matters but my GRE, biology GPA and having a ton of credit hours really saved it.

Yeah, I calculated mine too. Apparently I really should have applied to UT!

I wouldn't worry too much. I only had 2 semesters that topped 15 hours. If you're grades and scores are good you really won't have shortchanged yourself that much.

Yes, I am IS, really a big bonus! I've taken 16-20 credits per semester for 4 semesters, this summer I took 1 and this semester I'm taking 12 so that is messing my points up as far as curse points goes.

I am including this semester in all my points. The only thing that's really hurting me is that my first GRE was only 1040, and I have 2 C'c (o-chem 2 and Physics 1--HORRIBLE instructor🙁), so the fact that the math, physics and chem GPA is x12 really bites. Wish it was the bio classes- got straight A's there😉.

I know it's silly but I'm 38 and want to start vet school before I'm 40:laugh:

Welp I got a C in BOTH Organics AND in physics 2....ouch. Killed my GPA 🙁

Try having to calculate in the C+'s/B-'s in a bunch of upper division mathematics courses (and more C's in chem than just 2) taken before you cared about your GPA. That part of these calculations for me was almost comical, let's just say I was not multiplying a very large number x 12.

That won't kill your chances. It didn't kill mine (both organic chems for me but similar effect). Good luck and if you have any specific questions about UTK, feel free to PM me.
