UTK 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Basically posted that I feel kinda lost on the whole admissions process because of so many deserving people that haven’t gotten in to so many schools and how OOS seems so much harder for those who don’t have an IS (me). I mentioned that I knew my essays were good (only because I had them reviewed by so many professors to make sure they would be, literally every essay was reviewed by at least 3 times by professors) and I was called entitled… so I just deleted the post and only gonna use it keep up to date on my apps left …. It just felt a little belittling. 6 rejections is kind of hard you know. It’s already defeating enough.
Yeaaaahhhh.. sounds like Reddit. Rejections are absolutely soul-crushing, even when we know how hard it is to get into vet school. It's not about entitlement, it's genuinely just that at-a-loss feeling you described. I am sorry you had that experience 🙁 There's plenty of good advice out there on this forum but also there is no perfect, guaranteed path to success. A huge part of this is trying to cope with the sheer statistical challenge you're up against! It's tough!

Idk if I saw that post or not because I’m like a hawk lurking on that sub but yeah if you even need to air 1% of a grievance on rejections and how admissions is the worst goddamn process you get labeled entitled. Idk what weird ideologies float in that reddit sub. Like can’t we all acknowledge the process sucks and getting rejection upon rejection is mentally difficult!?

That’s exactly how I feel!!! I spent extra money on my essays because I was so nervous about it. And the one thing that I paid to give me a little peace of mind during such a long and stressful process I’m being told makes me entitled… and on top of that I mentioned my GPA being a 3.8 and people with higher GPAs getting so many rejections then being told GPA isn’t everything…. I never said that it was but it is graded and we all worked hard to maintain the GPAs we have. There’s no reason to be little even the smallest things that make us proud of our applications. I thought I would have gotten more support like what is shown here but…. Oh well…. If you have a 3.0 or a 4.0, 500 hours or 5000 hours, we each worked to get those achievements and we should be uplifting each other not saying that we’re “entitled, GPA isn’t everything, your essays and leadership skills aren’t good enough”!! We all made it this far and in my opinion that makes us more than deserving!

I’m sorry that happened. Rejections are basically inevitable, but that never stops them hurting regardless. We’ve all put in hard work just to be qualified to apply, and you’re right, that’s something to be proud of no matter what. None of us controls the admissions committees or even really knows what they’re looking for. At the end of the day, we’re all in the same boat.

It seems as if they sent out a decent amount of Acceptance/Interviews already, for give or take 30 seats.... I think it is an unofficial rejection until they send out the email.

Very frustrating to hear nothing at all from them, especially after taking the time to complete the screening interview... did anyone who completed the screening interview get an interview invite?

The radio silence from UTK is kind of crazy. All of my other schools have sent email updates every month just to let me know my application still exists. I don’t know if anyone agrees but it just seems a bit unprofessional to have a rejection email be the only correspondence they’re gonna offer to a majority of their applicants.

I agree 1000%!!!! Minnesota has been so involved through the cycle in some way and they actually email you back within 24 hours and sometimes same hour! I wish every school was as active as they are. Colorado is sort of the same way but at least their timeline is updated and they have a portal

Since they haven't responded to emails, I tried to give them a call but there's no longer an admissions number on their website. I know there was one listed previously because I called it and spoke with them when I had questions regarding their requirements in the past. They must have taken it down lol. However, I went back in my call history, found the number, and left a message asking for an application update. I'll let y'all know if I hear anything back. At this point I can only assume we are getting rejected, but I have absolutely no idea why they would just leave us hanging like this. Very frustrating and not a good look for them tbh.

Is it possible that they’re just not going to email us rejections at all? This is my first application cycle, so I don’t really know what to expect.

Has anyone heard back from them about interview scheduling? They said we would receive a separate email by the end of today for interviews on Friday and Saturday, but I haven't received anything.

I've only ever heard of a school not sending out rejections once. I forget which school it was, but basically they never sent rejections to students placed on their waitlist after the decision day deadline. But that's a pretty different situation. For a school to completely ghost all applicants who didn't get accepted or invited to interview is pretty unusual.

Same, I haven’t heard from them either. It’s 7 pm in Tennessee so this is concerning lol

I love your sleuthing!!! They cannot hide from you 😂 I can't imagine why they wouldn't send out rejections either if they already know acceptances unless they're working out a waitlist but like dear lord have your waitlist applicants ready when you send out acceptances!! Bizarre for real

Me looking at Tennessee rn

If they don’t send out rejections today but have sent out interview times, it is just unprofessional in my eyes. This is my second cycle applying and I’ve been turned down by every school so far, and this situation is so demoralizing and belittling. I’m sad and frustrated and honestly in complete awe at the fact that Tennessee has yet to email rejected applicants.

Real! At this point I don’t even care about being rejected. Being left in the dark is more insulting than anything else. Like we’re not worth an autogenerated email in a timely fashion? Seriously?

There it is. OOS Rejection

OOS rejection, yes mine says academic profile score fell below cut off

Does anyone know if they have an interview waitlist? I have denied my interview offer, hoping one of you can get an offer! Good luck everyone!
