Hey y'all,

Who else is applying this cycle to University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine this cycle?

Any tips that you can give me? I am applying to a dual DVM/PhD program

I am so sorry, I am not in the DVM/Phd program and do not know much about the application process for that.

I applied as well! I hope their supplemental application has some lengthy essay spots since there's no interview.

I didn't see a thread for Wisconsin applicants this cycle, so I figured I'd start it! Does anyone have an idea of when they send notice out about the supplemental? I know it's in November.. but does anyone have more information as to what it's like?

Thanks!

(ps there was a thread for Wisconsin already, which the mods have so kindly already merged your thread with)

I can't find the thread 🙁
This is the thread. Because UW does not have interviews, and the supplemental information comes out in November, this thread is pretty quiet.

I applied here as well. Good to know there aren't interviews to worry about for this one. I prefer interviews but I'm also in a gap year job that doesn't pay a ton, so travel costs for interviews stress me out!

Is the supplemental sent out to everyone that applied or is it only sent out to select people who they want to move onto the next round of review?

Received my supplemental application yesterday!

Is anyone planning on using the 4000 character limit for the diversity essay? What kind of format are you using?

I will be using up the 4000 characters. I wrote a diversity essay for UF so I plan on modifying that one. The format I used is narrative.

I did the same, reformatting and editing my UF diversity essay, mine was about 3900 character or so

Is this anyone’s second time applying to Wisconsin? I’m on the fence about using the essay I wrote for them last year. I feel like it’s frowned upon, but at the same time I’m not sure what else I could say

I submitted my supplemental application last night. I did not use 4000 characters for any of my essays. I was concised with each essay, but I still highlighted my additional experience, awards nominations, and my diversity impact.

Has anyone filled out that Wisconsin Residency form yet? I started it and went back, messed something up, and now I can't fix it; it says once you've entered information, you can't change it. It's really a bummer...I accidentally clicked "continue" on the Parent page without adding my parents. Does anyone know if this will affect anything negatively? I want to try and give the OAA a call tomorrow to make sure. I got all the rest of the info in there just fine, even listing myself as a dependent. I've got every other piece of proof that I am, indeed, a Wisconsin resident, I just got a little too click-happy on the Parent page and well...here I am. I'd hate to not get accepted over such a simple mistake!

I’m not a Wisconsin resident, but I made a mistake on the RADT and they fixed it for me. They were really nice about it. So I would just call them.

I called them and they said it's actually a super common mistake due to the formatting of the application. The lady I spoke to said it's really unfortunate and frustrating that their form doesn't allow students to go back to edit information and that they're hoping to change that for future application cycles. I'm really glad I'm not the only one to make this mistake!

I’m glad they were able to fix it!

Does anyone know how Wisconsin's ELOR assessment works? Thir website states that they look at "Three letters of reference and evaluation". I have been told by a previous applicant to Wisco that they were able to select 3 of their 5 ELORS for them to look at, but I don't ever remember being given the option to do this? I had 5 ELORS completed and now that I'm (impatiently) waiting for decisions to come out, I'm getting nervous I may have messed something up...
Any ideas?
Thanks 🙂
TBH thinking back on the supplementary application, I didn't see an option like that and I don't believe there was one. 🙂

If the open house is feb 23, you think they'd send out acceptances a couple weeks ahead of time?
I had the same thought! Honestly, I’m sure they have the same deadline as everyone else (Feb 15th). They probably will let us know earlier than that. By saying “end of February” they kinda make sure they don’t receive many emails from students asking about the date 🙂

Even Feb 15 doesn’t give a whole lot of time to schedule a trip to Wisconsin though... but I’m sure you’re right that they are guarding against email influx

That's what I was thinking... Im on the west coast so that's not a lot of time at all

I thought I would open up this thread since there wasn't one for this year's applicants.

University of Wisconsin-Madison is my in-state school so I'm really hoping that I get accepted but we will see!

Here's to hoping!

I have been looking at past years threads and does anyone know if this is the first time that they are doing Feb. 23 open house? I guess I'm hoping that if they have an open house then they might send out decision letters soon to give students time to plan a trip.

If I remember correctly I thought I saw that they did an admitted students day in March last year... Honestly I need to go back and look because I'm on so many feeds I might be confusing schools.

*Edit: I found it. Last year notifications started around Feb 21 and the applicant visit day was March 3. So maybe we will hear around Feb 15? That would still be a short time to plan but still better than nothing.
