Montana's gonna be a tough hurrdle for the Dogs, I dont think we'll make it past the first bracket.
FYI, no #16 team has EVER beaten a #1 team. Although I think a #16 team has beaten a #2 team.

Question:
Does anyone know when we can begin calling Admissions after the final meeting? Or any clue when letters will arrive (or got sent out last year?) I dont want to waste a $1K deposit due April 1st, in the chance that UW actually thinks Im not a worthless pos.

3rd year re-applying, one more strike and Im out!

This is my 3rd year as well - have they shown you any love in the past (i.e. wait-list of any kind?) And when you say, one more strike and you're out does that mean you won't apply again, or can't? Just curious! There don't seem to be as many of us 3rd-timers on this site (from WA, anyway), so I'm glad I'm not alone!

You're definitely not alone. There were 2 third timers and 2 second timers at my Utah interview. You're just one of the brilliant few that found SDN. 👍

3rd time WA resident here as well.

I got my letter in the mail today and..................I'M IN!!!! Talk about a HUGE shock!

Oh Spud -- I love Moscow. Living in Seattle really makes me miss it some days. (ususally the days that the homeless guy across the street decides to use our stairwell as a loo) But I'd already made up my mind that UW was going to reject me so I was content and happy in my decision to go to Utah. I am in shock now that I actually have a choice -- talk about a head spin.

Congratulations, MedicineBird. 🙂 I'm SUPER happy for you. So what do you think? Utah or Washington? I understand you may go to Utah, but I sure hope to see you 2nd year!

Just called, adcom meeting this friday for WA resident. Then 23rd, 24th, and final decision on 25th.

Way to go feathery friend. Now you just have to decide, which would seem to be the best part of the application process. The ball is on your side of the court. Talk about basketball, I would make the decision based on how far either school goes in the tournament. The team that advances the farthest is the school to which you attend. Are you a gambler? 😀

Hey all,
thought I'd say hi to all and congrats to those who've gotten into the most amazing med school ever! I'm a third time applicant also from WA so I know what you're going through. Keep a positive attitude! Its almost over!

Just wanted to say CONGRATS! That is totallly awesome!! You are totally awesome! I can't even imagine the feeling. Best of luck in deciding where you go. Share the brilliance with me and maybe I'll have a shot next year...I'm so tired of waiting for this year...I am in a state of "stupid optimism" regarding my decision 😀

I was just thinking how its sort of ironic that UW is playing Montana today at 12pm. I wonder who the current MT WWAMI students and applicants are cheering for?

LAST EXCOM MEETING TOMORROW!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!

HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!!! Everyone go out and enjoy a tall glass of Guiness.

:luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

WHAT?? Tomorrow is the last excomm meeting? What about the 3 day marathon next week? Did they decide to cancel it? Freaking out...

Don't freak out. 🙂 The final ADCOM meeting for WA won't change. Final ADCOM meetings for the other states happen at different times.
Cheers,

Tomorrow is the last REGULAR EXCOM meeting for WA residents. They will still hold the three day rejectathon from the 23rd-25th.

Rejectathon. . .
It is more likely than not to be an acceptathon, isn't it? 😉

Nope not at all, last year there were only 8 seats left by the time the 3-day meeting started. Of course there were the 25 Ranked List spots, so theoretically there were 33 seats left with about 250 swimmers in the pool. So as you can see, it merely ends up as a Rejectathon.

:scared:

You're right...a rejectathon. I guess I was LUCKY to get rejected early last year so I didn't have to wait for an extra month before they pulled the plug. Good luck to everyone. It will be nice to have things finalized.

As of today, there are 22 WA Seats left plus the 25 Ranked List Seats. So about 47 total spots left. I wish someone knew exactly how many of us there are in the pool still.

That's great news! Thanks! Any status page changes out there? I'm complete. Good luck to everyone!! We'll find out in a week. 😀 happy thoughts.

Did admissions office give you this information? Thanks and God Bless.

Are these numbers from before or after today's adcom meeting?

Yeah I got the numbers directly from an advisor in the admissions office and are from before today's EXCOM meeting so there will actually be a few spots less depending on how many they accept tonight. It will soon be all over and it was great analyzing this horrible process the last few months with all of you. Good luck to everyone and maybe we can all laugh about this one day as future classmates. Keep everyone posted on any decisions as soon as you get any. SEE YA!

GO DAWGS!

i was just reading through the last few days on this thread and thinking, geez, i really appreciate you all! this waiting business is, ah, well it is what it is. but its all the much better to have "company"!! its fabulous to hear when each one of you gets in - yay and inspiring!! and its also fabulous, even though disappointing, to hear when each of you doesn't get in - also very inspiring!! makes me realize that not getting in is simply another fork in the road, and that reapplying is a real option.
do any of you find yourselves reading the newspaper just a little too much? what do you make of the enormous republican energy around terri sciavo?

I am a gambler -- in fact I won $27 at the Tulalip Casino last night. Just finished watching both the Washington and the Utah games -- they both won!! It's so fitting with the way I feel about the schools.

anybody got a change of the status page?

Not yet... and I know I was in the pile of files to be reviewed on Friday... someone in admissions told me so... but she said there was no guarantee they would get to mine because they seldom reviewed all the files they set out to cover in one meeting.

Sigh. So I have no idea if I've even been reviewed...

i just called and i am still on the competitive list. About 10 seats are open then 25 ranked seats. There are about 250-275 students in the pool still left. The admission staff was a little unsure about the exact number of people in the pool.
I am feeling slim to none chances of acceptance in my case. Good luck.

I just called and was told that there is no change in my status. Read: I was not reviewed. Grr! Ok... it's just a few more days and we'll finally get some idea... it sure sucks being at this point ever since the first week of November!

hey kid, where did you get that number of 250-275 left in the pool and the 10 seats left? is that what they told you or are you just guessing? those odds do not sound good at all!

well, here is the truth. On friday when i called I was told that they have 22 seats open , and the very nice admissions lady said that they typically accept 10-15 per meeting and some of the files will be reviewed over again. So, your file may go for a review but it may not necessary result in an acceptance or rejection till the final meeting. So, subtract 10-15 seatss out of 22, and the 25 ranked seats and that's it. Also, since UW interview 700 applicants and majority of these are WA residents, close to 300-400, and almost none of them have been rejected yet. Subtract 90 acceptances out of 350-400 and you got your competitive pool. That's why the lady wasn't sure on how many they exactly have left in that pool. Then again, I might have made an error in calculating numbers. But, good luck everyone.
God bless,
kid.

I know everyone is probably totally stressed out this week. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has posted in this thread and I wish everyone the best of luck. I hope to see all of you this fall. If not, maybe next fall! It took ME two years to get in, so if you don't get in this time, don't give up! :luck:

NeuroSync, You are so encouraging! Thanks so much for responding to my posts and being here even after you got accepted! You've been awesome. Good luck and enjoy UW!! It'd be awesome to have you as a classmate...I wish...=p

y'know--- as much as it pains me to say...... I don't think so. Right now I think my quality of life will be better if I attend UofU. I am going to an orientation deal there on the 8th so we'll see how I feel after that. I have until May 15th to make up my mind, right?

Thanks, Kiwi. I was so discouraged last year. You know the story: I was in the pool for a long time and then REJECTED before the final meeting. I was sure that if I had been rejected that I had no chance for this year. I could see not making it out of the pool, but to be rejected really stung and made me question my competitiveness for UW. The least I can do is to pass along what I learned from my experience and help someone else along the way. Everyone on this thread helped me a lot this year. I got some very important information.

It seems like this is a fairly self-selecting group. I hope that means that everyone who is active on this thread has a better than average chace of getting in. I'd love to actually meet everyone this fall. Everyone has been really positive. 🙂

At least everyone will have a game plan within the next week. The lack of information is a killer. . .

You are totally proof that it can be done...very awesome. Unfortunately for me, this is my second time around and I did everything Dr. Samson told me to do last year and I'm still stuck floating in the pool, until the very last excomm meeting...exactly the same as last year....odds aren't on my side, but I'm hoping the other schools I interviewed at like me more than UW. But you're right...not knowing makes it even worse...I wish they'd reject me already if they were going to! =p I'll be able to sleep within the week.

So I've read of a status page on the UW site in this thread, and I was wondering if this was a page besides the one to check if your application was complete? I'm pretty sure my app was considered this past Friday and the suspense of waiting for some paper to hit my mailbox has got me searching for other means to check if I've been accepted, rejected or drowned in the pool. If there is in fact a page to check your decision status, any chance someone could toss it up on this thread? I'll be twiddling my thumbs, waiting patiently until then. Thanks, and good luck to you folks

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if they made a final decision on your application, then your status page will change and it'll say something like "action has been taken....blah blah...expect to get something in the mail between X and Y." So if your status page hasn't changed, then they're going to consider you some more this week...along with everyone else in the pool. Good luck!

Mine said "Action was taken on your application xx/xx/xx. You should receive a letter from our office by xx/xx/xx." This is the same page you check to see if you're complete. Good luck. :luck:

Hmm, I didn't get a competitive pool email either. Interesting, talk about a transitional period that really sucks. Here's to waiting one more week 👎 Well, good luck to everyone floating in the pool! Regardless of the final decision, it will be nice to finally see this entire process come to an end (though a big envelope would definitely be a bonus)!

FYI

A.) They don't send you an email -- it's a blurb written on that status page
B.) It's a regular letter sized but poofy envelope your acceptance comes in. pray for poofy, praaaaaaaaaaayyy for poooooofy!

Thanks for the clarification MedBird. I wonder how many Hail Marys it takes to land an acceptance? I might as well get started, since the clock is ticking...
