Hi guys,
Has anyone been called for an interview ?
Has anyone been called for an interview ?
For an internship or residency or what?
I have had a phone interview last week and I've heard of a few classmates who have been called as well (for small animal rotating internships). However I'm told it is not uncommon for academic programs to go strictly off the application and not interview anyone so even if you don't hear anything it isn't necessarily bad.
I've had 2 interviews so far and have 2 more scheduled (applied to 9 programs in total). Not expecting any more than that since the rest of the small animal rotating internship programs I applied to are at academic institutions.
Actually, I read that but I missed the interview, because it seemed little bit strange for me. If a program see you as a potential candidate, naturally it should contact you for an interview. May be I'll do it next match if i do not match this year 😀Hey Therio! I'm guessing we applied for similar programs as I've currently ranked 10 food animal or fa+equine internship programs and am planning on a therio residency. I have one interview scheduled (I applied to 10 of the 17 programs that generally fit that description.). My interview is with VMRCVM. They are the only program I talked to that does interviews! Best of luck!

All the best for us 🙂
Caia, if you plan on becoming boarded I would highly, highly recommend you go somewhere with someone boarded in that specialty. Networking is very important! I am planning on an academic career so I've been applying for academics and doing extracurriculars that support that pathway.
Just out of curiosity, have you been to the therio conference before?
I'm early in planning my activities for summer 2016, but I was hoping to schedule longer externships and perhaps attending the conference as well.
Yes I've been to and presented projects at the last two conferences. Really enjoyed them, even though I knew no other students there, it was still a lot of fun, met so many people (faculty and students alike). I recommend going if you are able!
This file has good tips for internships applications. Goodluck! Are you guys mainly applying to programs that have boarded vets in the practice? I'm not sure how much preference should be given to practices with someone boarded vs seeing a lot of cases but no specialists.
@Therio good luck tomorrow! Hope things go well for the both of us!
🙁 Sorry to hear that. Maybe you will find something in the scramble?
I'm headed to Virginia-Maryland.
