Hi everyone, first post here!

I just had a question about volunteer hours for dental school. I volunteered for most of my high school years (mostly during sophomore and junior year) at a local animal shelter, have accumulated more than 360~ hours as it was one of my genuine passions outside of school/dental related activities. I know most likely, since it was during high school, I probably won't be able to count it on my application for dental school but I thought I would ask anyways since I couldn't find a clear answer from any other discussion. I really appreciate any feedback and thanks!

I was told that you can't do that... They will possibly see the difference in the time stamp and ask you about it in your interview.

I’d think you can but just make sure you have more recent experiences as well.. might be best to reach out to the schools. I’d say forget it if it was like 10 Hrs but yours sound more involved.

Since there is only one school that asks for high school transcripts, it is reasonable to assume that there is not much interest in pre college activities.

I would not put it and only focus on your college activities. You are free to mention it during your interview if you get a chance to do so.

Do you have more recent volunteering hours?
I have some very recent ones, and I am planning to continue volunteering throughout undergrad. I just wanted to see if my volunteer hours from high school could be counted since they made up a huge part of my life in high school!

Generally it's looked down upon to put highschool experiences in your AADSAS app.
