Quick question for the masses. I submitted my 4th year away elective application today for my dream location in EM. Before submitting, I called the coordinator to ask a question about the vaccination form. He asked me what month I was interested in coming out, and I said either Aug or Sept. He mentioned that despite the fact that applications are not processed till May, Aug has quickly filled up with requests and that I would be better to pick Sept.
I followed his advice and went ahead and applied for Sept. Now I'm second guessing the decision. I know that we submit ERAS on 9/1, so I basically just screwed myself out of a LOR from dream location. What I do get is exposure to the program and most likely an interview later in the season (fingers crossed).
I will be rotating at my home institution in July and most likely another away elective in Aug (for a grand total of 3 EM rotations). I could potentially get an LOR from the other site (which would end up as 2 LORs from my home institution and a third LOR from the other site).
I'm looking for some advice here. Should I change my dream location to Aug and just hope for the best? Or should I just get my LORs from the other places and do the Sept. rotation as is currently scheduled.
Thanks folks
