My waitlist has barely moved. Wouldn’t it be assumed that most movement would be today since monday they’ll lose their deposit??

I also don't think if someone drops a spot someone will be called off the WL instantly, it may take a day or two, especially if a school over accepts a lot it may not be before April 30

Yup, schools don’t tend to hand out offers as seats open, they usually wait till a sizable number of people decline and then hand out the next acceptances in waves. Waves have higher intensity (more offers going out) but less frequency closer to 5/1 (further away from orientation = more time to decide), and frequency increases while intensity drops as less offers become available and less time to decide is given in order to have the class filled by orientation

Not sure if this is helpful, but the odds are definitely in your favor with 12 waitlisted. Hope you hear back SOON.

Thanks DBC03. I worry they are soft rejections because I’ve never heard of anyone getting WL’d that many times with no acceptance. But hopefully it was just bad luck and you’re right about the odds being in my favor.

I'm sure you will get in to multiple places!! Also, your username is amazingggg haha. Really brought me back to old school cartoon network 🙂

im confused by this. are the years a typo?

Yes. I applied two years ago to around 40 schools and got 2 interviews which lead to 2 waitlists but eventual rejections.

This year, I applied to 60+ schools (50-something MD schools, 6 DO schools), I also submitted two master applications this past month if you want to count those. I got 3 MD interviews this year which led to 3 waitlists, and I just got off the waitlist this past week. I did get 1 DO interview but I just withdrew for that because it was supposed to be next week.

It's been a journey.

Bless you. So glad you got in!! Jeez... I don't even want to think about how much you've spent.

Just got waitlisted at the only MD school that gave me an II.

Damm. Did you have to retake the mcat at all?

I did. I originally took the MCAT in 2014 and got a 32. Because I didn't get in during the 2015-2016 cycle, I knew that re-applying right away wouldn't yield me better results anyway but this meant that I had to retake the MCAT cause it wouldn't have been within 3 years of the start date. I scored a 514 this past January 2017, which could have been better I think but IDK what happened to my CARS skills that day lol. Good enough that I was like IDK if I can do better during a retake. Also ironically I was going through a terrible and messy "breakup" with someone 2 weeks right before my test date. Whoops.

Bless you. So glad you got in!! Jeez... I don't even want to think about how much you've spent.

A LOT lol. But actually less than many other applicants I think because I applied for FAP and got it for both cycles. I recommend applying to FAP if possible. It has like a 1-2 week turnaround time of when you will know. My first cycle, I applied like 2 weeks before June 1st and still got FAP before that date. This nearly got rid of all the secondary fees and I mostly spent a lot on Primaries, and DO apps.

2 II 2WL's

Interviewed at one of the schools all the way back in early September and the other in early December. It's so hard. I keep imagining what it would feel like to get off of one, but also have to stop myself because the hopeful thinking becomes poisonous at some point.

So much would be easier if I could just land one. Wouldn't have to move. Could just enjoy the summer with my family and friends. Time will tell I suppose. Best of luck to everyone on here.

+1 Same here dude, I interviewed in November and February and both WLs. I wish it was May 1st like right now so things can actually start moving. I'm just trying to keep myself occupied with activities and work, and occasionally rework my Primary application just in case.
+2. Interviewed for both in November and have been waiting since then. Scariest part is not knowing whether I have to reapply and do this all over again. Not sure when I should be dedicating myself fully to reapplying

Waitlisted at the dream school 10 minutes down the road, grew up next to it.

Lower tier waitlist with around 300 on it. With a class size of 150ish, I would need, to have even a shot, the entire class withdraw lmao.

Feeling you - the school I’m waitlisted at has 600 people on the waitlist and only 120 in the class [emoji23]

Feeling that too. The school I'm hoping to get into takes ~10 off, traditionally. There's probably like 200+ people wait-listested and its unranked.

I'll never understand why a school waitlists that many people, do these places not reject anyone? I feel like if they historically only take 10 they should have like 100 max not 200 that's crazy. I think one of the WL I'm on is only like 100-150 people and the class size is ~100

As a reapplicant, I can tell you from experience that the time to start “dedicating yourself to fully reapplying” has passed. You should have been in full reapplicant mode back in Feb/March. You still have time of course, but don’t reapply until you’re ready. Hopefully you’ll get off a waitlist and it won’t matter!

Jesus Christ... how much did that cost? Congratulations on your acceptance. I am glad it worked out!

You’re probably right. My problem is I don’t know what it means to be in full reapplicant mode. I already got my letters and everything set so there’s that and I’ve been doing stuff to update my app. It’s all about revamping the essays and work/activities section I’m guessing

Can anyone please help me look up waitlist stats for Tulane?

So who do they reject after interview like the one guy who shows up a minute late? That’s awful. I know a program that accepts 65-70 (class size), waitlists 150, interviewed 240 so they rejected ~20. It’s still awful. But I think yours is worse.

Including DO and masters and everything I think almost 4k. It would be much higher without FAP

Has anyone had any experience with an MD school telling you "your GPA is fine considering the breakdown of each year (AKA strong upward trend)" but then get on the WL or rejected due to a lower c/sGPA? Or am I being paranoid?

My bet is on NYU (and they also have a slightly smaller class this year)

NYU is about 400 on the wl, so I dont think so

It’s NYU, but the 600 is technically from the MSAR - not necessarily the same number as this year. I thought it was 400 as well until I saw that. So are we thinking it IS 400 this year? I wasn’t sure as I can’t remember if Dean Rivera told us how many were waitlisted.

Omg 600? What is the point of having that many people on a waitlist? Which school is it, if you don't mind me asking?

NYU - number is from MSAR (from one cycle ago), so the actual waitlist could be smaller as discussed below.

Hey we messaged each other before!
Yea it's about 400

They had a financial aid webinar back in February and they had question at the end of the webinar, dean Rivera said about 400 on WL, and about 100 come off of it. This if course, prior to all the ranking news lol

I attended that and *thought* he said that. But then I saw the updated MSAR and started thinking I imagined it.

Seems like plenty of schools take 100+ people off the waitlist

My school has a wait list of 25-30 and take 20 off (or so they say lol). But I swear it feels like no one is withdrawing this year. :bang:

Ugh same. The school I'm waiting for has had like 5 reported withdrawals since decisions were released. I know SDN isn't a good sample but still, it definitely feels like no one is withdrawing!
