Hey ya'll, I was the chick with 6 waitlists but I was just accepted!!! SO STOKED. However I have a question:

The school I was accepted to isn't my top top choice and I'm still hoping for an acceptance from my other top choices. I have until May 14th to give them the deposit and my decision. Will other schools know that I was offered an acceptance here/will that hurt my chances of getting off the waitlist at other schools? Just curious!

Congrats!! I don't know if it will hurt your chances, but I would wait until the 14th to pay your deposit just in case

That's what I was thinking! Obviously am ecstatic regardless, just wanted some insight! You would think it wouldn't matter if you already hold an acceptance, but schools want to increase their yield percentage so I don't know how they take other acceptances into consideration.

Other schools will be able to see you got an acceptance. Not sure how that'll affect you getting more acceptances though. You can wait till the 14th if you want to keep holding out

They have a huge waitlist but very good movement. I think something like 75/275 accepted off waitlist, from what I recall from MSAR

I already sent in my LOI!! Thanks for the feedback and thank you to all my supportive SDNers!!! Keep up the faith because it will happen if you try hard enough!! 2nd time applicant, 1st acceptance after a total of 9 waitlists over the 2 years. I believe in y'all!!!
 
I'm in a unique situation where I have zero acceptances and 1 "waitlist"... It's actually Albany's "Under Consideration" list and I have been on it since October. I interviewed there in August! Praying for this acceptance given that I interviewed there almost a year ago and DO NOT want another year of purgatory. Congrats to everyone who has already gotten an acceptance and good luck to those still waiting!

I don't think so! Mercer! Still on the waitlist for MCG, buttt I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with Mercer no matter what. I'd love to meet you IRL sometime! I want to try to make a group of Georgian future M1 SDNers so we can try to meet up sometime later in the summer, but before school starts.

I’m taking a year off and working just to be able to afford next cycle if I have to lol that’s my plan B that and raising my MCAT score

Depends on school, emails with more details have to come after any call to provide the info in writing, especially with 5 business days to decide. I think this time of year there’s a lot of calls before though.
 
I've been following this thread for a bit, but I'm just now adding my name into the mix. 3 II's, 3 WLs - all in February.

Like many of you, I've been anxiously waiting for my phone to ring all day (I turned it on ring too, which I never do). A few minutes ago, while my back was to my phone, it rang for the first time. I felt my heart skip a beat and starting shaking...only to turn to my phone and realize it was my mom calling to ask how things are going.

The disappointment is too real. I'm still shaking from the adrenaline I got from a phone call...from my mom. Fingers crossed for my fellow waitlist-ians!
 
I'm a reapplicant and got my first MD acceptance this morning! 🙂 I'm extremely conflicted on whether to accept it or go with the DO program where I've been given a very generous scholarship, but it's definitely nice to know I CAN get into an MD program after all, you know?

I can't believe how different my experience was this cycle. I almost didn't reapply due to still being financially strained from the previous cycle and just kind of feeling deflated and like there would be no point because there was obviously something very undesirable about me as an applicant. This time, I only applied to 8 schools and have gotten into at least 2 of them with one of them offering to cover 100% of my tuition for me. This process is wild lol.

Haha I was sitting in a concrete microsope room all day at work and when I walked out I had a missed voicemail from someone else from 3 hours prior (and just got it) so I was paranoid and told my mom to call me as a test, sometimes Verizon sucks!

Quick question - I was accepted today off of a waitlist by phone, and I'm holding a spot at another school. How exactly do traffic day rules apply in this situation? I have not received an official acceptance e-mail from the WL school yet, so I have not had a chance to accept their offer. I'm scared to withdraw my one acceptance without a formal "you're in" from the WL school - any thoughts?
 
Anyone hear anything about waitlist movement at Case Western or Emory?

You have anywhere from 5-10 days to make a decision. I’m not sure which though, since each school is specific. But mine gave me 10 days to decide...which would be May 7th. Hope this helps!!

When you are formally admitted you will be given at least 5 days per AMCAS rules to "accept their accept." You'll probably drop a deposit to do this. Once you drop the deposit, then you can send the other school an email asking to be withdrawn. Congrats!
 
So these next two weeks are when the bulk of acceptances off waitlists are sent out?
