This school is one of my top choices. On the school's website, it says they have a ranked waitlist but in the email, they didn't tell me what my rank was or where I stood on the waitlist. Is it appropriate for me to ask where I am ranked on the waitlist without risking anything and what my chances are of getting an acceptance offer? Any and all help is greatly appreciated :)

If they did not specify your rank, they might not disclose that information to you. Some schools do that.
If it is your top choice, instead ask if they are receptive to Letter of Intents? Best of luck

Wait.

Letter of Intents are always an option. Not sure how likely it is to sway the ADCOMs.

letter of intent/update! if they're open to that. I'm not sure asking for rank will help at all. also i found this: Medical School Waitlists - has lots of good info and answers about waitlists

I am crossing my fingers for you!
