Hello! This is my first time posting on SDN. I am currently in the process of applying to USDO and USMD programs as a Canadian ORM (primary submitted, should be verified this week). I would appreciate some feedback on my DO and MD school list and insights on the likelihood of receiving an DO/MD interview invite.

Here are my details:
  • cGPA: 3.57
  • sGPA: 3.57
  • MCAT: 514 (3rd attempt; 496 -> 502 -> 514 with section scores of 130/125/130/129)
Ethnicity: South Asian

Institution: T5 Canadian Undergrad Institution

Leadership
  • President of a student run community service club (2 years; have been volunteering in this club for the past 4 years)

Other interesting ECs:
  • Created a machine learning project as part of a team of 3 that we had an opportunity to present at a national undergraduate conference for AI
  • Placed 3rd in a competition where we needed to pitch a business product that addresses one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals

Here is my school list so far, any feedback on what I should add or remove would be greatly appreciated:

MD:
NYMC
Tulane
UIC
Wayne State
MSU

DO:
AZCOM
CCOM
KCUCOM
LUCOM
MSUCOM
NOVA
Rowan
UNECOM

I would love to have any feedback on my profile, and suggestions on future improvements to have a better shot to matriculate in the US (DO or MD) if I do reapply. Currently doing my best to get more clinical hours.

Thank you for taking the time to read the post, looking forward in hearing any critiques or thoughts 🙂

Have you done any non clinical volunteering? Many MD schools within your stat range are keen on service.

Yes. Through the community service club I have approximately 200 hours of volunteer service (few things we did things include: community cleanups/gardening, collecting donations for women shelters/food banks, helping assist local city events like Christmas parades, and during the pandemic helped running a popup vaccine clinic)

I also have been volunteering as an academic tutor for students with learning disabilities for 120 hours so far (still continuing)

So altogether 300+ hours of non clinical volunteering

Hello, I am a Canadian who is planning on applying to American M.D and D.O schools in the next few years (my D.O school list is almost the same as yours right now). I was wondering if you got any word back from any of the programs you applied to?

Hey there, sorry for the delayed response. Got interviews at DO programs only
