First off, thank you to anyone who can help a stressed applicant this cycle!!

24 yo F ORM with a BS in Physiology, cGPA 3.5 and sGPA 3.3 from the University of Washington (graduated 2020). Although it was incredibly difficult to raise my sgpa, I have a very strong upward trend from getting 3.3s and 3.2s in my first 2 years, to getting 3.7s and 3.8s in my science classes in my last years.

  • My MCAT was a 508 (127 PHYS /125 CARS /129 BIO /127 PSY)
  • a little over 1000 scribing hrs in the ED spread out over 3 years
  • 400-500 volunteer hours between working on a crisis hotline (1 year), volunteering as a camp counselor for a children’s camp (for a medical cause), COVID sanitation at a homeless shelter, providing spiritual care to patients at Harborview, and volunteering in a government hospital in Indonesia for 2 weeks.
  • Currently working full time as a Patient Care Coordinator at Fred Hutch/Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and will have 2000 hrs by the time I apply.
    • I also am in a team in charge of developing a multi-departmental merger at SCCA and have trained an entire team on workflow changes.
  • Zero research. I hate it lol.
  • I am just about starting to volunteer at an animal shelter (just for my own interest) that will count for 3 hrs/week.
  • I do have shadowing from scribing but no stand alone shadowing.
  • Solid LORs from doctors (including ones from the CMO at Swedish as well as from a DO for DO apps) BUT not as solid for my professor LORs.

Basically, I’m just overall confused on where I stand as an applicant. I personally feel my stats are pretty mediocre and I ideally would want MD but am fine with DO. I have hope for my personal statement and think it's coming together well, just needs some refining. Seeking some guidance and encouragement on which schools I should aim for/are a good bet for me [emoji3064]

I suggest:
U WA
WSU
GWU
VCU
Rush
NYMC
Gtown
Creighton
Albany
Rosy Franklin
Drexel
Temple
Miami
MCW
SLU
Wayne State
Tulane
Loyola
Loma Linda (only if you are SDA or a very devout Christian)
Netter
Hackensack Meridian
EVMS
Oakland-B
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
WVU if from the Appalachians
TCU/UNT
Any DO program. Include PacNW and both Westerns for starters. I can't recommend LMU, ARCOM, RVU, Nova, BCOM, ICOM and LUCOM, for different reasons. Avoid those new schools that haven't graduated a class yet, if at all possible.
