Hi, just looking for chances/possible school suggestions.

- Undergrad Univ of Miami - sGPA: 2.9, nsGPA: 3.4, overall 3.11 (had some circumstances with health and family difficulties freshman and sophomore year, had to retake Orgos but an upward trend in both science and cumulative GPAs)
- Grad Fairleigh Dickinson, NJ - 33 credit 10 month master's GPA: 4.0.
- MCAT 504 (128, 124, 125, 127) --> retaking 7/7/18

FL resident (app qualified my residence as under-served area but not a UMR or disadvantaged).

Applying mostly DO, few MD possibly more dependent on new MCAT score and feedback as I would prefer MD.

- Shadowing ~150+ hours OR time, cardio, anesthesia
- Clinical paid: scribe in ER 2500+ hrs
- America Reads literacy tutor for low SES children in south miami 150+ hrs
- Graduate assistant for director of master's program w/ LOR
- research assistant in dept of surgery ~300+ hrs, no pub
- strong LORs from professors, MD, DO, my hospital's ER director

@Goro @gyngyn & anyone else who has any suggestions or similar stats plz! TYIA

Do not re-take the MCAT unless you are confident of a score that more than compensates for the first one (for MD). That sGPA may be a screen at many schools...
Do you have a year by year gpa and Sgpa we could look at?
Master's grades (except for SMP's) are not considered in the same light as undergrad grades at MD schools. DO's see this differently.

Any school suggestions?
would you consider 508+ okay? or should I not retake at that point still
TY for your input

sorry did not see half of the message for some reason.

also may help to note i was not pre-med feshman year, was Marine Science, but then switched to pre-med after

Year by year freshman 2.3, sophmore 2.0 (orgo mishap), junior 3.0, senior 3.2, and masters 4.0 which i know you said doesn't do much for MD, but for DO

As gyngyn said, your biggest problem right now is your sGPA. The best thing you could do at this point in time is to take additional upper level science courses doing a DIY post-bacc and do well in them (A's) in order to improve your sGPA to get passed MD screens - if you are aiming for MD.

After improving your sGPA then you can start thinking about MCAT retake. And then after that you get your score you can start thinking of applying MD.

Being a FL resident will significantly help your chances because when applying to MD your best chances are at your state medical school. Currently there are 8 FL medical schools (FIU, UCF, FSU, FAU, UF, USF, UM, Nova).

I am not too familiar with DO schools. @Goro would be able to give you additional advice.
