Spent the day in NYC, and last nite out partying in the City that never sleeps....Got in at 6:30 am....and Thanked God I am home...

In honor or L.A., at 1 AM, I stopped all my friends and yelled a mock "Last Call". Much to my surprise, there were people from L.A. in the bar...and as I was explaining what I was doing...they were dying laughing.

To salute bars not closing at 2am....I bought my friends a round every hour...on the hour past two am.

Needless to say....by 6am(and 4 rounds of SoCo and Lime/Blackhaus later) I had spent more money that I care to recall....but was happy to be able to drink that late...so it was ALL GOOD!!!!

I miss L.A.....but I LOVE NY!!!!!!

Smoking in bars is apparently the one thing that L.A. has over NY, as well all learned from Dr. Kieser,

"The side stream smoke from a single cigarette is equivalent to smoking 3/4 cigarettes"

Too bad that question wasn't on the Path exam....

I am gonna look into that live transplant list....
Nothing says merry Christmas like "Hepatomegly"

Hope the cows are being tended to..as for NY..I saw the Meryl Lynch bull on Wall Street on my way home...and almost pissed myself....thinking about the COWS...and NY's BIG BRASS BULL!!

MOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyhow...

Happy Holdiays to all.....
Hope you all are enjoying being home!!!!

Damn you guys are insane... but it was fun to read all the entries since I haven't been on in awhile. It's a new look for us.. post-semester style. Too bad we can't go back to that excited state we were in before school started, but oh well! As for me, I've been back in H-town (Houston) visiting with family, driving to the airport too often, and working on my golf game (hitting balls in my backyard.. I sank 4 out of 10 balls into my swimming pool.. but it's all good) so I can come back and embarass myself with innerpower on the course as he's being gracious enough to pick me up from Ontario Apt. Christmas night.. I think I'll be buying this guy a round of golf! (or give him that box of golf balls the pharm rep gave me.. heh heh)

Prit- tell me it's nice and warm down in SD. Houston has been having good weather, but I got my first mosquito bite in.. six months and it's definitely not as warm as it could be. I need that California warmth once again...

Yosh- Your bar-hopping experiences remind me of the ones you had in the city before school started. Back to old times, eh? You should give Pyoj a ring to keep him on his toes.

I've been thinking of some more suggestions to pass along to admin/SGA/whatever.. maybe with more time on my hands this semester, I can actually try and contribute something to our class instead of being all self-centered and selfish like I usually am in the spirit of a COMP student 😛 . Which reminds me, when I get back I'll work on those Bales slides to put them into convenient ppt format if I don't get them from someone else already. I would've done it the day I left, but then I realized each Bales slide show had 50+ slides. ugh.

I am gonna look into that liver transplant list....
Nothing says merry Christmas like "Hepatomegly"
••
Unless it says "splenomegly".....
I would try some OMM on the cows here, but they are not really receptive to the thoracic inlet, nor are they into respiratory cooperation. I even tried to find some spinal somatic dysfunction but they were not keen at all on the texas twist. The PR compaign has obviously not reached the MN bovine community. 🙄

It's snowing again, so no brown Christmas here.

Oh Ye Olde SND COMP crew,

It's good to just sit back and relax for once while I lay here reading all yer funny posts. Am I the only lo-Cal here, besides our good, nice, funny, not-so-mumbly Faiz? It's about 70-something degrees right now, and I'll be hittin' the sunny slopes of Southern Cali in a nice tank top tomorrow.

Yoshmeister, damn, never knew you had the big hook ups w/ Dr. Berkyl, I guess I'll be sweatin' bchem this whole break not knowing if I passed the class or not...oh well.

Sammy, what's with the cow ordeal? Is there something I'm missing? If you guys have been tipping and not letting me in on it, I'll be a little upset.

Teeloola, good looking out for us. Thanks for all the work you put into student government.

Arnold, you are the man as always. Thanks for all your help. You should have read this email I sent out to the class about helping each other out. After I sent it out, Lanny got a whole slew of study aids coming from people in our class. I just hope we can keep it up and work together like you guys do.

Lanny, good job with the web site. Now, if only you can party with us...seems like you're a little busy all the time.

Oh yeah, can't forget PuppyLuv. Shout out to you too. I wish I could get all the attention you get from all the ladies. Don't be breakin' any hearts now.

Oh....YEAH!

Robb is Back.....he is kinda like Donny Osmond...all we need to do is get him to sing..anyone for a little.."Puppy Love"??

Need to get his ass posting some more!!!

bump for dec. 29th.. two more days till NYE!

hello all...second post...still intimidated by all the cow references. i've made it to philly safely but unfortunately all the cows here are currently spending their time in big macs and other assorted burgers. it is approaching 4:30 am EST and i am apparently in time zone denial, as i call it, because i may be the only person in philly awake at this moment. i've also managed to sleep in to about 4pm everyday which makes me inhuman in some way. otherwise, it has been nice to re-associate myself with the yuengling brewery that doesn't distribute to the west coast. i hope everyone has a relaxing and safe new year's. i will be in brooklyn contemplating how to use my OMM skills to hit on women. if thoracic inlet doesn't work, i may have to re-think this whole doctor buisness.

Hey Anub,
when are you going to be back around here? Yeah, let us know how you fare with your OMM skills.. keep in mind that NYC (and Philly for that matter) can be a dangerous place, so "hands-on" may not always be your best bet (read this as "know when to keep your hands to yourself.. heh).

After looking at our sheer volume of output in this message thread, I was thinking that since the c/o 2004 already has the name "The Legendary Class of 2004" we could call this "The Legendary Thread of 2005". 😀

Good call Lanny....

I was going to take it upon myself to suggest something other than the thoracic inlet, but somethings just need to be discovered via trial and error. 😛

Don't worry Anub...if the thoracic inlet doesn't pan out I'm sure you could find some people at Western to readjust your cervicals after getting slapped around on New Years.....Cheers and good luck.... 😀

Happy New Year to everybody.....May the cover charges be affordable and the alcohol plentiful wherever you end up...

Hmm.. my plans for NYE sort of fell through.. pondering going to Vegas this morning to hook up with Castro and Pandy..

After the ball dropped.....New York was still standing! Too bad I wasn't...

hehehehehhee..

See ya'll soon...

I thought this was a little better than just writing:

**bump***

Lata!

tried to stay away from the computer/laptop for the break but i gotta give my late happy holidays to everybody!!! what is it, 3-4 more days till school............woo hoo!! yea right!!!
Well holla back people, this thread's gettin pushed deeper and deeper to the bottom of the SDN OSTEOPATHIC page. Oh yeah, thx for the shout out from that filipino stud... RobbC (man, one of these days you gotta tell me the secret of gettin ladies) and of course the NY connection... Yosh and for sure i miss the rest of you knuckle heads out there. See y'all soon and bring your holidays pictures to class, should be fun looking at them during class.

Yosh,

Good to hear that you did well on that OMM written exam. Then again.... you're supposed to do well on it! 🙂 From here on, they're going to make your OMM written exams harder. So be warned.

In regards to a party... I emailed you Nick's address, so you could try to get in touch with him before school starts. We should get a pretty good turnout for a 1st week party, that would be a great idea.

Lastly, FYI, you guys are going to start systems now which means you have more free time, but the tests are harder with more material. Just be sure to keep up and don't take Dermal lightly. A bunch of us did that... and a lot of us barely passed. So enjoy this weekend and we'll see you next week!

-eric

puppyluv- hey man.. when are we going out clubbing? I heard you have a great time at Le Prive after school finished..

eric714- Hey Eric.. thanks for a little heads-up on derm. This first month is going to bite though.. taking H&N and derm at the same time, no? I would definitely love a little extra free time.. did you think you spent a lot more time studying 2nd semester than 1st semester? (or was it a matter of being lured into goofing off a little more 2nd semester that made it more difficult?)

"(or was it a matter of being lured into goofing off a little more 2nd semester that made it more difficult?)"

It's called starcraft...evil, evil game!!!

Hope you had fun during your break. And Eric's right, don't take derm too lightly...

Arnold

I'm BAAAAACCCCKKKK.....

Bush held up my plane landing in Ontario for an hour..but I am here

aecuenca- speaking of which.. i should probably be training for starcraft while I still have time. Would be nice to have a copy to share with classmates though heh. I just saw this Starcraft combo software pack including brood wars for $8 online....

This is just what we need....

Hmm..Lanny...hook me up with a copy?

See ya all at school tomm!

And it's back to school...

Still working on the incorrigible laptop issues. Perhaps I will have it fixed by the time school gets out. Until then, I'm looking into having all correspondance sent and received via carrier pigeon. But they're so unreliable. 🙄

See everyone when class starts in an hour.

Sammy,
Don't they EAT pigeon where you come from?

I could have sworn I saw a can of it in your pantry.....

Yosh,

No pigeon here. MN has much better eating than pigeon. And it especially wouldn't be canned, and it certainly would not be seen in my pantry, which I doubt you have seen as I don't have one in CA.

But it's ok....I'll just chalk that up as one of those things kids from the city shouldn't be expected to know. 😛

After the "Thanksgiving" incident...I think I am alowed to make some random stabs in the dark.

It was the BEST bacon wrapped chicken that I ever had!! Which I say thank you again!!!!

Hi!
I'm going to attend COMP this year!!!
I'm wondering about how and when to look for housing....since I"m currently attend school in Philadelphia and won't be back to CA (where my home is) till around 6/10.
So, when should I start to look for housing, and any recommendation on where to live best if I don't have a car. (Even though I might get one.)
Also, my home's in Tustin (Orange county), do you guys think it's possible to live at home and drive to school????

Thanks and Hi, everyone!
Anniejojo

We're slipping down again... I know it was Fuz's birthday and all but come on people... 😀

and Yosh....I will remind you that it was bacon wrapped CHICKEN you had, and just what that has to do with assuming that I eat pidgeon is beyond my conception. Although I will grant you they are both members of the Bird category, that is about where the resonable deductions end in terms of possible food options. But being that the only edible poultry options you are likely to come accross is in the meat section of Von's, once again I will cut you a little latitude in your conclusions as to what people from the midwest consider palatable. Bon apetit. 😛

Sammy,
As I sit here studying with you...I feel compelled to respond via SDN...is it because I have no desire to do osteology-self study? Perhaps is it left over energy from the Crabby Fuzz Birthday bash...or the "rededication of our beloved university to its NEW and IMPROVED name "Western Mel"...
Either way.....Had a wonderful nite last nite...celebrating the 4th day of Fuzz's birthday...which I think has finally worn itself down.
The cows have taken a brief siesta....but I am sure they will be making a "re-apearance" soon. Their existance was questioned last evening...but the queries were quickly squashed and alleviated.
Looking forward to a new and exciting semester...as we speak...I do feel the looming of the "procrastination cow"...which we have all met..at one point or another.

Let the Battle of the Bovine begin!!!

Hello all COMPees,

I'm a COMP '01 grad doing internship/FP res in Las Vegas. I'm on call tonight and a non teaching attending is doing most of the H+P's (instead of me)...so I just spent the last 30 min amazed by this large 'thread' of chit chat.

Anyway, if anyone has questions about Lake Mead Hospital, please post a new question so I know to look for it. I think next week, our DME and Med attending will be at hospital day. I think it's a good program to rotate/intern.

I think students need to communicate with graduates as well. I'll try to respond in decent time.

Good luck in 2nd Semester. Dr Leo kicks ass in Neuro.

Question: How's the relationship between ISACers and the rest of the class? ISACers beware, Neuro System is time consuming, so study like the rest of them...my grades dropped once I had a full load.

Bye,
drdp

To Anniejojo and all incomers,

I believe the traffic is OK from Tustin on the 57 in the am to Pomona, and vice versa in pm. I estimate 40min each way. I would try the commute to save money. A lot of students try living with parents in So CA to save money. It is soooo expensive to go to COMP now. I feel sooo poor as an intern.

I would record the lectures on tape and play in car during commute. Warning - causes drowsiness.
(Which i need right now.) Don't buy a gas guzzler.

Chino Hills is expensive. I think it's nicer than Claremont. The LA fitness in chino hills (free for students) is the best stress relief.

Good luck,
Old exams are key.

Drdp- hey thanks for joining our rather large thread on SDN. I have a feeling from all the pages on here, one could get a sense for some of my classmates around. At any rate, it's definitely good to have someone here who's gone through it all. That is one thing I haven't been able to do is talk to many grads (didn't go to AOA convention in SD.. but it's in Vegas this year, right? Woohoo!)

Actually, I'm hoping to get the lectures digitally recorded and posting them up on our class website so people can download them onto their laptops to listen to. It'll take a little work, but the sound quality is a lot better than tape recording.. need to get a good spot for the recorder up front to get decent reception.

I think most of the ISAC'ers have a decent rapport with the rest of the class. I was an ISAC'er although I didn't facilitate.. I've heard warnings before about ISAC'ers getting kinda distanced from the class. We had a pretty brainy and motivated crowd during the summer though so I think they'll study just as hard for everything... I know I am even though I didn't have to take the written exams this semester for anatomy. Besides, with the frantic pace of last semester, systems seems to be slightly more manageable.. at least for the moment.

Speaking of Dr. Leo, I heard some classmates spotted him in Old Town Pasadena this weekend and had a little fun with prank calling one of our friends at the bar with the real Dr. Leo on the other line.. must've been entertaining to say the least!

Oh yeah..is your residency an allopathic or osteopathic.. and how often do you see DO's around your hospital?

Where the hell is everyone? As we have fallen off of the page....

Sam needs to get her laptop back..as she is quite slacking in the reply department!!

beats me.. i posted last before you. i thought people had more time on their hands.. probably going out more

I see your post...and raise you!

My computer is getting picked up today...so in 5-10 business days I will be back in full effect.

I see your post and I think your bluffing so I'm going to call....

haha i'm tryin to catch up on dermal and anatomy...how did i get so far behind in only a week? i know...IM 😀 otherwise everythin else is goin well...

prit

Hey Prit,
Good luck on elections. Whether it be you or I in office this semester, let's kick some serious a$$. There's still 3 semesters to go, so hopefully we can both be officers for at least one of the three, whether it be now or later. I definitely wouldn't mind working alongside with you or Stella. Dream Team here we come. Go President Pyo! Keep the spirit alive!!! 😀 😀

Hey Robb...goodluck to u2 in elections. 😀 😀 I agree with exactly what u said. I'm sure we'll both get a chance to be in office. Gotta try and pay attention to derm. now...so talk to everyone a bit later...

prit

i can't believe the response i got from speaking yesterday...i have a lot to live up to huh...thanks guys, you're the best.

i don't care what anyone else says, i think i'll have fun with my new found authority 😉 .

soo...how about that Dr. Woll. quite a character, eh?

ok. i'll be checking ID's at the door.
~your new pres...

Hmmmm..

Jay is readily assumed the helm of the "Titanic"
...best of luck to ya...my fellow Long Islander!

Good to see people posting again..and I hear our Minnesotan(sp) will be back soon..as her laptop is in the shop as we speak....

Look out...

Best of luck during the elections..

and may the best people win....if not then...please God..let someone do the job..

The 5-10 business day countdown begins......

Anybody know where I could get hooked up with some Acutane? 🙄 I'm sure there isn't anything that it can't treat after hearing today's lecture....... 😀

Not sure it works on the cows though, especially the ones that are are a little depressed from being milked all the time......

Shoot.. was I supposed to show up for the voting? Well, perhaps it was better this way.. I have friends running against each other, but yeah.. we did try to spread it out and I have confidence in whoever gets to run the positions this semester. Hopefully we can get some rusty gears running and fix some things around here.. or at least figure out where the underlying problems are.

Nice reference to the "Titanic". We'll see how that goes.

At any rate, I missed Dr. Woll's entire lecture today due to increasing back pains from... golf (ok that sounds bad huh). Well, at least OMM helped it quite a bit, but it is still a bitch to take deep breaths. Well, better get dressed for anatomy lab..

anniedojo Hey, where do you go to school in Philly? I went to Saint Joe's and another person in our class went to Villanova. Just wondering.

everyone else I have a problem...i am in what i term "post first semester academic denial syndrome." All I remember is taking that Micro final and going home for break. Yet, i can't figure out if break ended or not? I know I'm back in SoCal...I'm pretty sure about that but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be studying again. And I'm pretty sure that classes started up again but someone told me that they were all optional. Help!

Anub....

GET YOUR MASSETER Moving!!!!

anub-
I think that you discovered a new virus that is causing an epidemic around the school!! It causes hallucinations of being in classes yet with delusions of no tests. We need to get the micro department working on this one. Help, Dr. Oglesby, help! 😉

Wow.. I spent about 4-5 hours last night in school just goofing off with Anub. I need to be put in isolation... STAT!

Yes I would watch out for that Anub character....he is rather distracting. Too bad I couldn't have warned you earlier Lanny.

Its amazing how **** seems to have "built-up" so fast...

Hmmm....gets better during systems eh? I am just not feeling it....

I'm feelin' that we only get one exam to pass this Derm system...which is worth 4.5 units if I'm not mistaken. That's the same weight as good ol' biochem...how weird is that? Whatever, I'm sure we'll manage somehow. By the way guys, thanks for your support in voting me in as the new curriculum rep. Prit, I'll let you know how it goes, and maybe we can do it together next semester (that's if we do decide to do it, from what I heard the second year reps had to stay in office because no one in there class was crazy enough to take this position). We'll see how it goes, I'm sure the cows will be on my side.

RobbC- Speaking of systems, yeah I thought it'd be easier, but damn if I had a painful time this weekend going through Oglesby's packet by itself.. the material seemed even drier than last time. Not having any specific slides from the microbio profs probably doesn't help either. I tried using the powerpoints given to us by the path and clinical derm profs and even used that www.dermis.net, but sometimes I still can't find the right pics.. damn. Has someone checked out the old exam yet to see just how detailed the questions are? Well, at least I understand anatomy (which is sad to say...)

Btw, I just printed out your redraw of Leo's facial nerve diagram and I'm happy to say that your handwriting is a lot neater than his. I like the bars you used to designate lesions.. looks like Kiick's lesions. The picture still comes out a bit fuzzy, but I guess that's because I tried to expand it to the whole page.. no biggie. We're supposed to be drawing this damn thing and throwing it away each time, right?

BUMP

... i really should start studying.
