you interviewd a week later and got your letter before the 9/4 people.......that makes absolutely zero sense.
my heart sank when i got a "small envelope" from Western last year cuz during high school those usually meant college rejection letters... it was an acceptance tho, and here i am now ^^
so yea just a heads up for everyone awaiting decisions 😉

My AACOMAS is just going into review now, so I project I won't be complete at Western until early November which is way later than any of the recent posts I've read here. I wouldn't fret. I was told by a Western U admissions recruiter I am hosting for a presentation at my school that I should just make sure I fill out my secondary quickly and that I am by no means "too late" for an interview.
After a wonderful day of rugby on the beach (we played in a tourney) I get home to my mail box to find an acceptance letter from Western. The wait almost killed me, but it was well worth it!

has anyone gotten an invite without a D.O. LOR? I have an MD LOR but I'm scrambling to get one from a DO via shadowing.
You do not need a DO letter; I received an invite with an MD letter.

No there's really nothing you can do other than just try your best. The acceptance rate is probably the same for OSS and ISS.
Oh and there's a fair amount of us who didn't shadow a DO, have a LOR from one, or even seen a demonstration of it.

Hey, it's about time!!! Congratulations
I got the invite without the DO LOR, but I made sure i had one before the interview...It wasn't all great of a letter, though. But it was nice to be able to tell the interviewer that I had see one in real life!
In that case did you just bring a sealed letter to your interviewers or the admis office?
I put it in the envelope with the secondary that i sent in about a week prior to the interview. I think I ended up talking with the admissions office a couple of days before and they said they had received it and I was complete.
When they asked me about the DO shadowing in the interview, I couldn't really say much, but that didn't stop the acceptance, so good luck!

Approximately how long have you been complete?
My application was released to Western on the 10th of September. I have yet to send in my letters though.

Even though WesternU is a private school, do you think out-of-state students have an advantage or disadvantage when it comes to applying? I see that a lot of students who are enrolling tend to be from the state of California.
I'm curious because I'm from Ohio and I am interested in WesternU.

I am OOS and got an intereview. In fact I leave Wednesday!!!!

they dont give any preference to IS applicants.....In fact, on my interview day, there were only two CA people out of 12 total ( i was one of them). There are just way more CA people applying than any other state becuase
1) the school is in CA and any one who lives in CA does not want to leave
2) all of the other schools are extremely extremely competitive (i'm ont saying western isn't competitive, but definitely less so in terms of % accepted, and GPA and MCAT. let me reiterate, this is not a knock on western by any means). Think of all the CA schools. You have all of the UCs, which are considered top in the nation (SD, LA, SF, Irvine, Davis), Stanford, USC, etc. etc. I dont care what your statistics look like, you could easily get rejected from every one of those schools. The result is that a lot of people apply to Western because 1) it is a great school and 2) it is in CA. THis may also be why western's average GPA and MCAT are pretty high (just a theory). In the end, you have a lot of people from CA going to the school.
Point is, Western doesn't discriminate OOS vs IS. If you have a good profile then you have a good chance of getting accepted.

umm i was in the first session and i think there was about 13 or so??? hazy memory.. i was in the first interview session and i interviewed on 9/4. they interview every thursday, so there was also one on 9/11, and 9/18 and the next one is 9/25. good luck man, western is awesome.👍
Wow. That's a big group. I'll count when I go on 9/25.
UC Irvine only does two interview days per month, so they invite 40 people per session....now THAT is a big group.
I think there were 12 people on 9/4 with zetabruin. I thought it was a great size and everyone was very conversational throughout the day.
ryserr is probably right.. 12 people, i only have a hazy memory of that day... one thing i DO remember though, was that there were all guys and just 1 girl! good luck to everyone interviewing tomorrow!!!
i counted 24 people on my interview day (9/18/08). they had six teams of four for the interviews, totaling 24.
From memory: there were 22-ish? people on 9/11. Roughly 50% IS, 50% OOS. I didn't count M/F..but I would say 50/50.

If you go to Claremont there are plenty of things open late... there is thus place called Aladdin Jr that is open until 2 good Mediterranean food... also 21 choices frozen yogurt version of cold stone... I have others if you want but I will only give them out if I get in... j/k

I was there on 9/11, too. I think there were around 24 people interviewing, but more OOS than IS.
DreamPills, whose group were you in when we toured the school?
I was in the first group: Team 1, 2, 3. The one not with Natalie...She didn't say what her name was...
DreamPills, how would you compare Western to Touro-CA? Did you interview at Touro before or after Western? Just curious.
I interviewed at Western on the 11 and at Touro-CA on the 16. The one thing I really did not like about Touro-CA is that they didn't really try to sell themselves. They pitched their new cancer center, but it won't be built for awhile. They didn't mention their curriculum at all. I got the feeling that Western students are more open and friendly. Everyone was telling us "good luck" during the tour. I don't think any students even said hi to us at Touro-CA..but then again, it was exam day when I went. Also, Touro-CA is fairly isolated from everything. Western is more open and integrated into the community.
