Congrats ronicajay!👍 The sdn western groupies are fairing well so far!😀

CONGRATS. I know we all worked very hard to even have a chance to get in. So getting in must feel amazing.

Maybe if i had become a groupie of this lil' thread board here i might have had the same luck. Perhaps i still may....

Congrats future Docs.

😀 It was SUCH a relief to hear that I got in. My interview the next day went really smoothly because that huge weight was off my shoulders.

Also, no pressure but you better not mess with the trend!!! 😛

haha...No pressure at all.:scared: I've been 100% with my interviews so far...But it's been a while since my last interview so I may be a bit rusty and not to mention it's my number one choice so I might be a weeee bit more nervous!

congrats on the acceptances and good luck for those who have or are waiting for interviews! :hardy::luck:

Don't worry. I felt like I put my foot in my mouth during my interview at Western...well, ok, at most of my interviews. I was pretty nervous, but I don't think my interviewers (anywhere) were there to document my flaws or screw ups. For the most part they have all been positive even with my occasional idiot comments. 🙄

did you all hand write your secondary? i couldnt find it in the forum, and i have to leave now, but really wanted to get your answers!!!!

thanks!

Should I even try apply to Western???

MCAT 6 VR 11 PS 12 BS O WS (English as 2nd language, 3 yrs in the states >.<)
GPA: 3.67 Overall, 3.7 Science, Bio major (Emory, ATL)

other aspects such as ECs and LORs are good and competitive. I am very concerned abt the ONE I highlighted in red ~.~"""

no, you type your secondary through the form they e-mail you. it is in the form of a pdf, and it's the type in which you can't save your work on it. so if you plan on filling it out, make sure you are on a computer that is connected to a printer.

if you still haven't received the e-mail, you'll have to wait for it.

yes you should definitely apply to Western!
I was actually given an interview before I got my secondary at Western.
Keep in mind, when I got this interview my MCAT score was 6PS/11VR/10BS

Thanks for the encouragement Sithr. I am hanging. Gonna send in an update about a paper i recently submitted and a conferance im going to in washington for my research. as well as why i think im a good fit for western.

Worst part about the waitlist though.....is my parents are tripping and want me to apply to carribean schools for back up. I really hope i get that AZCOM acceptance to mellow them out cause thats so stressful.

Anyone else more stressed out by their parents more than the app process itself? hah.

Also, apply with the Low verbals score. WEstern looks at apps pretty holistically and as a 2nd language learner...u should have a solid shot with your high science section scores and solid GPA.

i know this has probably been asked...but about how long does it take to hear back regarding interview invite or not and completed application. i was complete around beginning of oct. and have yet to hear something...would love to interview here in order to stay in the PNW...

I e-mailed the admission counselor, and was told to wait 3-4 weeks for the notification. Let's cross fingers.

yeah, i was told the same thing. it takes 3-4 to review your app and then you'll get an e-mail or letter in the mail informing you of the decision...my question is:

will they send you an e-mail if they'd like to interview you and a letter if you're rejected, or the other way around? those who already interviewed care to help out?

you will get an email for the interview invite with the available dates. i haven't heard of any rejections yet, but i assume it would be a letter.

I just called today for a status update. She said a final decision was made a couple days ago byt he committee and I should hear from them soon. Its been almost a month since my file was complete...

Is this a bad sign if I don't get an email? Has anyone gotten an interview invite through the mail? 😕

Unless they specifically said you were going to receive snail mail, I don't see why you would think that. It may take a few days for your decision to go from committee to email w/invitation...

Don't fret. Sometimes it takes a while for you to here back after a decision has been made. Don't take it as a bad sign until you have a rejection letter in hand.👍

Plus I am speaking from experience on this one...Just look back through the pages on this thread where you will find me falling down a deep dark hole of fret.

haha, thanks, i see that now. i saw it was a pdf, and thought, hmmm. now what!!!

can someone post a copy of the secondary so some of us waiting for verification can actually take a look at it or even think about what to write? That is if it is not against any of the rules set forth though

Also, is there a word limit imposed on each of the question??? thanks

Hi guys, sorry to butt in here, but I am wondering if there are any Canadian applicants to COMP (currently, or in the past). If so, did you have to go through "foreign coursework evaluation"? I have been told by fellow Canadians who have matriculated at U.S. DO schools that the "foreign coursework evaluation" doesn't apply to Canadians... At least not for Kirksville KCOM... Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks!

The questions are available on the secondary application thread. I don't think it's a good idea for us to post an actual copy of the pdf. You should wait until you actually receive the application before filling it out. It would be a good idea to start drafting answers, however.

I just registered for their Osteopathic Medicine Awareness information session. For those of you who visited during your application year, how did you dress? Straight up suit? Polo and khakis? What are some good questions to ask?

When I went, some people were in jeans, some in khakis, and I even saw a dude in a suit. It's pretty casual, so you definitely don't need to wear a suit. Polo and khakis sounds like the safest choice.

Thanks for the quick note. If I am not wrong there are only two questions , one age for each, right? Thanks

Yes, and there are short responses if you have teaching or research experience.

Hi would u mind give me more details on that? like exact questions and word limit etc. Cant seem to find that in that thread, thanks!!! 🙂

so initially.....Western was my top choice. I really liked the curicullum (systems based), the people there and of course the location (im from LA so staying near by is easy and convenient).

But....after visiting AZCOM and gaining acceptance im starting to think that getting away from LA would be good for me and help me focus while AZCOM is close enough and very cheap to live at.

So.... waht do you guys think is more important for helping one get and stay focused for medical school?
A. being 40 min from all my freinds and family and in a city iv been in most of my life
or B. moving away from possible distractions and with a lower cost of living which will lower my overall debt

????

also.....which school will better prepare me and why? Western or AZCOM?

i hate this...the waiting process...i get excited when i don't have a rejection letter yet, but i get disappointed when i don't have an email intervite...aah!
