As of today, I've officially decided that I'll be attending TUN in the fall. The interview last weekend confirmed in my mind that Western's MSMS is an outstanding program. I love the variety of research and physician shadowing opportunities that students have at Western. And the campus facilities are really nice. Besides, what's not to love about SoCal???

In the end, it came down to three things: The uncertainty about whether or not there will be a linkage program for those that want to attend COMP, the fact that there is no uncertainty about Touro-Nevada's linkage, and the potentially lengthy wait time to get a decision, one way or another, from Western. By cadting my lot with TUN, I can start planning for my move as I've already been accepted and awarded financial aid. Plus I would be stupid to give up a potential guaranteed admittance to the D.O. program.

To those that interviewed last week and on the 20th, I wish you all the best and should any of you that I met last weekend get into the MSMS, KILL it! I hope to see you all as colleagues one day!🙂👍

At the interview, Dr. Goode told me that it would be about two weeks after the interview before decisions would start going out.

Okay so I'm reading mixed information...some say they are keeping the linkage part of the MSMS program (as long as you have a minimum 24 MCAT and do well in the program) and others suggest the new dean is doing away with it....so does anyone know which is true? 😕
 
although i am Pre dental the student that interviewed me last week was a first year DO student. He mentioned they are most likely getting rid of the DO linkage. BUT the students before i interviewed mentioned that you should get at least a 24 and maintain a 3.0 to get into their DO program (pretty much guaranteed) true linkage or no linkage. Predental had no linkage but all 10 predental from last year got into the Dental Program 🙂 . Pretty much just perform well and keep GPA up and a least 24 on MCAT and you are good to go!
 
You should email Dr. Goode for that answer. She's the program director and will allow you to get the info straight from the horses mouth. But there was conflicting info regarding the linkage given during the interview.

All the people worrying about the linkage is really odd to me. Just do well. Period. I wouldn't even worry about your MCAT that much but if you can get through their program with a 3.5-4.0 I don't see why they wouldn't let you in esp. hearing how many the let in to their DO school in years past.

Yes you should do well regardless of linkage. However, as a current student, I have to tell you, it is VERY HARD to get 3.5-4.0 It is not like other masters programs. I passed all my classes through sweats and tears and only currently have a 3.10 By the way, I got a 10 on MCAT bio and 3.3 undergrad science. I don't wanna scare you but they are getting more strict every year in terms of who they admit into COMP (don't count on stats from previous years). Just don't be overly confident. I'm very glad I did this program and never regret it (I got my acceptance into COMP recently) 👍 Good luck.

There's suppose to be like 40 more persons interviewing tomorrow. And not to make anyone scared but they've filled a good amount of spots already. They're only taking 32 to 36 students I was told.
 
by a good amount, how many do you think? around 10..or like half or more than half? I don't think they picked anyone yet from the second interview and there were only 15 from the first.

I do not know how many spots are still available, but I do not think we should discuss this matter at the moment (although it is an important factor) since it is out of our control and would only add more pressure to the interview tomorrow. Just focus on practicing for the interview right now and we can find out more about the available spots afterwards. See y'all tomorrow rain or shine!! 😀 I'm soooo nervous and excited at the same time!
 
Now the interviews are all done- letting the waiting game begin 😛 Haha, good luck to everyone and I sincerely hope we all get what we have been working so hard for. This is only the beginning to a wonderful journey towards our career 🙂

Oh, I plan on it, best believe that! How did your interview on the 20th go? I hope that it went exceedingly well and I hope that you will get some positive news. I hope everyone that wants to attend Western gets some positive news.

Sorry to hear that Villma6 and Chipmunkdoe. If yall are still looking for something to do this fall, Touro-California MS MHS, Mississippi College MS Biology-Pre Med and Virginia Commonwealth Biomedical Sciences Cert program are all still taking apps. Mississippi College is the easiest program to get into but its not by any means an easy program. Their students have a lot of success after the program. Midwestern-Glendale MA Biomedical Sciences is still taking apps and they offer interviews at the med abd dental schools to graduates that have good test scores and at least a 3.5 in the program. I interviewed and was accepted last year. Liked what I saw but it is expensive.... Keep your heads up. One closed door just means that there is another opportunity out there waiting for yoy.

For all those who got rejected, what were your stats? How did the interviews go? Did they say why they rejected? I'm kind of scared know

IS 3.85 gpa 30N mcat, i did pretty poorly on the interview because i didn't know it was closed file and didn't refresh myself enough to truly articulate my prior activities and stuff... i also applied to westernU this cycle for DO and got waitlisted. i think westernU just doesn't want me but it was always my first choice. i was actually thinking of this msms program as a career change to prepharm but i've been accepted to an MD school out of state so i think i'll be forced to go there... oh well, good luck to everyone else!!

No other news. Still waiting. Only been one week since the last interview. So I'm guessing after next week they should start giving out more acceptances/rejects.

Got my acceptance about 20 minutes ago. I also found out earlier this week that Touro-California is considering me for their MS MHS. I got into Touro-Nevada's MS MHS. Thought that I was sold on TUN but in speaking with my father, I think that I should make a pros and cons list so that I can be sure of my decision...

Just received my acceptance. I interviewed on the 20th!!! Congrats to everyone who got accepted! I'll see you all in a month!!!!
 
was wondering the same thing about us pre-dents.. im waiting patiently. No news is good news right? haha

Apparently ISAC will run from June 17th to July 29th and we start orientation the week before. Not sure what day, though. As for the post-interview survey, maybe they selected people at random to fill it out? I interviewed on the 20th and was accepted last week...and I haven't received anything yet regarding a survey.
 
You guys! Got my acceptance email today!! Thanks @graduate2be for the encouragement when I was literaally in a fetal position and ripping my hair out! ( never had this much anxiety when I applied to undergrad.. got accepted in no time). I hope to see u all there soon!

I was told the 4th of June but I would say they would send all that information when we accept the invitation to the school. Anyone living on campus or are you going in the surrounding area? (within a ten mile radius)
