Attempting to write an essay for a scholarship that just asks me to explain why I should be selected and how the scholarship will help me.

Not quite sure "I'm awesome" and "to be less in debt" are good enough answers.
 
I am having a baking extravaganza. Cookies are cooling and bread is in the (toaster) oven!

There's not even background information about the scholarship so I can't even base my response off of that. Really want to apply for it because it's a decent amount and is one of the few that don't have a GPA requirement and I'm right below the minimum for those. 🙁

Always scary when you have to just guess what they are looking for. I suppose just be brutally honest and hope for the best. The people that make it are the ones who have a story people can get behind. Silly but true story... I girl from my high school has a beautiful voice and tried out for one of the reality shows, can't remember which. They loved her voice but said her background story wasn't interesting enough. Gotta have a selling point these days.

Very valid point. I'm trying to do some brainstorming but my brain is in serious summer mode. Luckily I have two 7 hour car rides later this week and I can jot down ideas at that time and then bang the essay out later. Or even work on it at the hotel.
 
Waiting for AAA to come and jump start my car. I left the lights on and the two people here at the wildlife center don't have jumper cables. I was supposed to meet my friend from Davis for dinner. I guess that's not gonna happen 🙁 and a crow pretty much sliced my knuckle open today. I've had a bad week.

Easiest place to start is find out where the funds come from. If it's the college, try to connect your essay to the college. If it's a private organization, try to mold your essay to connect with them (i.e. similarities between successful members or previous recipients, even if you're not part of the organization.) That's what I've always tried.

Where are you applying, just out of curiosity? Is it a scholarship database (i.e. FastWeb) or something else? I need to scope out funding for my second round of undergraduate. 😳

It's one through my school and the money is coming from alumni. And that's what I'm trying to do but not having any luck.
 
I'm attempting a complete Mass Effect run-through of all 3 games. Working my way up to insanity mode (so, I played Veteran on the first game, since that one is my weakest game) and now working on hardcore mode on Mass Effect 2. Things are going pretty decently so far! I can't complain 🙂
Hoping to have this done in about 2 weeks with all 3 games.

My roomie's iPhone did that once and we were sooo confused and freaked out...especially because the phone had fallen into the cracks of the couch so we had no idea where it was coming from.
 
We went from 90-110 these last couple of days to a VERY pleasant 61 right now. I am so happy to have a break from the heat.

I spent my afternoon IN the pool, which was also a tad too hot, haha.

Now off to fireworks with my roomie! 🙂
 
I'm house/pet sitting for a couple this weekend. I was a little bummed to be missing family festivities, but the pool at these people's house is definitely making me happy. I'll probably be burnt to a crisp, but the weather is so nice I don't even care.
 
I have found myself lurking out of the pharmacy fourms looking for more active threads and I think I found one. Haha.

I am in a car heading back to Florida from a week in the mountains in North Carolina. Happy 4th!
 
I'm currently very happy to have a basement apartment. It's 25C with 70% humidity right now, so the humidex is 32C. Basement = well insulated = nice and cool down here.

I bought a Chromebook today to replace my sputtering netbook. I don't think it's going to suffice though. My main method of taking notes is to type them directly onto the professor's powerpoints or PDFs. Powerpoints are fine, they play nicely with Google Slides. But I've been fiddling with it for awhile to find a reasonable method of adding comments to PDFs on it, and it doesn't look like there is one. Boo. I liked the Chromebook besides that. Looks like it's going back and I'm going to have to shell out more money then I wanted to.

Funny how in the spring 50 can seem so hot, but in the fall it seems so cold!
 
I got bored and ventured over to the Pre Allo forum. It's scary over there. Kinda like the twilight zone. They aren't nearly as supportive and helpful as us pre vetties. It's entertaining though.
 
just got home from the fireworks extravaganza!! it was fantastic 🙂 now downing a beer... work tomorrow might suck, it's gonna be mid 90s

I enjoy poking around over there. Both to relish the fact that never was pre-med/I don't have to be pre-anything anymore (and thus freak out about omg I got ONE B on my entire transcript will I have to settle for the #2 school?!) and the fact that I have a nice home over here with such helpful, nice people 😛
