At NYCPM, if a student's overall grade is below a 70, they have to "retest", meaning they have to take a cumulative exam and pass it. I've never had to retest but you have to achieve a certain grade (maybe a 70???).

Anyways, if you do achieve a passing grade on the retest, on your transcript you get an "FC-" on your transcript which is a 0.0, which can tank a GPA a little. But hey it's better than being kicked out.

So yeah objective is never have to retest, study hard for every exam. no questions.

Most pod schools if you fail you have to retake the class sometime during the summers fail again and you get held back a year.

Allopathic and osteopathic schools operate this way also. Some can be more cutthroat though and ultimately it’s the dean and staffs decision. There is a possibility they dismiss you without giving you a chance to remediate the year, only the class. I’m sure it’s not like that at every school like NYCPM as posted above, but it’s definitely the majority of most professional schools even.

At Barry, fail and you're out, able to enroll for the year below to try again (repeat all courses)

Same at Scholl...if your cumulative grade after the final exam is below a 70 then you have to retest. If you pass the retest you get a C in that course, regardless of your score on the retest. If you fail the retest, they make you repeat that entire term, so you're behind a year. I think if you have to retest any more courses while repeating the year they kick you out.

Also, I am sure this true for all 9 schools, if you have to retest like 3 classes in a term, then they might kick you out. Period.

At Barry you are given the option to remediate if you had a D. So you can move on with a D on your transcript or take a remediation exam, pass, and get a C on your transcript instead.

If you got an F in the course you have to take the remediation exam. Again, if you pass the remediation exam you get a C.

If you don’t pass the remediation exam, the dean will present you options.

Remediation exams are given near the beginning of the following semester and are cumulative.
