What is included in your medical school tuition? I am referring to books, any technology equipment, memberships in professional associations, anything?
Do any of the schools provide anything other than the lectures for the amount of tuition that you pay?

Nope. They will give you financial aid for those items (at least for books and some give extra money for computer your first year) but that's about it. So when you see those extra costs other than tuition, those are the type of expenses they are referring to.

It depends what school. I think Pikeville gives you all types of stuff.

Ok on their site:
Introduction

Tuition and fees are due and payable in full at registration unless special arrangements have been made with the Business Office. The College reserves the right to change the schedule of tuition and fees without advance notice and to make such changes applicable to present as well as future students. Tuition provides for:

*

a laptop computer;
*

all required texts, workbooks, and necessary anatomy dissection equipment; and
*

a new portable OP&P table, a stethoscope, an ophthalmoscope, an otoscope, all lab coats & scrub suits, and the use of a PCSOM microscope for the first two years.

All SOMA and KOMA dues as well as the costs of taking Parts I and II of the COMLEX (first time only) are covered by tuition.

While what I meant is tuition is usually tuition for classes, finito. If its increased its only b/c they add on extra "fees" and call it credit towards tuition. Its not really tuition per se and most schools just break it out like so in the tuition bracket.

Summary: You get money for cost of attendance which includes: tuition, fees, books, one time expenses (laptop, moving for clinical rotations, etc), room and board, etc. So this is all a moot point in discussing how its broken out. Cost of attendance includes all these things and that is what you need to be concerned about, not what your tuition covers (because they've probably just jacked up your tuition for that year to cover these "fees" anyway).

At LECOM you get an assigned seat in the lecture hall 🙂laugh🙂, a stethoscope, a whitecoat, free parking (does that count?), and life insurance policy. Pretty good I must say.

Oh my. Silly child, the white coat and stethoscope are gifted by POMA. Don't give the schools too much credit.

At PCOM, you don't even get free parking. So we get nothing... except a world-class education, of course 😀 Wish i could get it for 10-20k less tho haha. C'mon PA, make PCOM a state school 😀

You'd probably stand less chance to get accepted as a state resident then. 😉 PA schools don't seem to like those in-staters much do they?

Let's see... What's generally included in tuition at many schools? Hmm...

A) The opportunity to study your a$$ off, have a flood of basic science information stuffed into your brain, to get little to no sleep, and to basically have no life for 2 yrs.

B) The eventual eligibility to take Level I and II of the boards and to match for residency.

C) A medical degree after completion.

D) Lab, Library, and Information Technology Fees.

E) School ID and Gym Fees (sometimes)

F) All of the above.

In all seriousness, it depends on the school. Sometimes this information is disclosed on the school's website, etc.
