Any potentially good feedback?
sGPA - 3.2
oGPA - 3.31
DAT- 20aa, 17gc, 20oc, 19bio, 18qr, 25rc, 19pat
I have a good bit of shadowing, a lot of extracurriculars, a lot of hours and extra classes. I have a reason for the low gpa and it's improved significantly over the last year and a half, so idk how they'll look at that.
Applied to: Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, UNC, Meharry, Georgia Regents, Texas A&M Baylor, and Florida.

Hey guys, need some help asap!
I have already applied to the TX schools and now I need to send out my OOS application but can't decide exactly which schools to apply to. I tried to pick the schools that are closest to my stats. But I'm thinking of dropping Case western, Tufts, and Loma Linda, due to a higher DAT acceptance score. I'm not sure about Howard either because I'm Pakistani and not a underrepresented minority. Total is over $2000 😱

My stats are:
Undergrad GPA:2.3
Masters GPA: 3.9
Post Bacc GPA: 3.65

DAT
AA:18
TS: 18
Bio 19
Gen Chem 17
OChem 18

Good list. Great stats. Check out Case Western. Since you're from Michigan the school is fairly close and it is an amazing school!

Really starting to panic guys. What do you think are my chances? 3rd batch (I believe, app mailed dates of 6/27 and 7/11). 2nd time applicant (only got 1 interview last year). 3.57 oGPA, 3.49 sGPA. 22 AA, 21 TS, 18 PAT, 25 RC. I only applied to 7 schools (Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State, Indiana, Michigan, Case Western, and Detroit Mercy.) Zero interviews so far. 🙁

With your stats I think you should've been fine , however u those re very few schools . And most of them are state schools. U should have applied to at least 5 privates

Ok so I'm not applying until next June but I just took the DAT today:

PAT 22
RC 21
QR 18
BIO 20
GC 20
OC 20

AA 20
TS 20

Extracurriculars: NCAA division I athlete, member of sorority and pre health fraternity

oGPA: 3.6
sGPA: 3.5

I'm a rising senior and will be doing a bunch of shadowing this fall/spring. I'm a michigan resident but I wanna apply to a lot of out of state schools. I reallllly wanna go to USC. Where else should I think about applying? Will the 18 in QR hurt me 🙁

do you go to michigan? i do lol.
if youre pre dent we could know each other.

but anyways, dat is fine for michigan. at this point, you want to APPLY EARLY for michigan.

if you apply in the first week of june, youll need about a 19 to get in. if you applied in july, you'd need a 20, august: 21, september: 22.

michigan fills it fast and they LOVE people who apply early.

i know this because my friends have worked closely with the admissions director and she says early application is taken seriously at mich.

now i just read that you want to go to USC lol

i do not know much about USC, but from what ive been told, getting in isn't the hard part...

this is very discouraging for me becuase your GPA is pretty good along with very decent DAT and didn't get in last cycle.
I have high DAT, but lower GPA than you....🙁

Thanks for the advice. And no I go to school in Texas! I'm still considering Michigan for dental school though. I'm going to apply there and other schools on the first day applications come out June 2015 to maximize my chances! @FOX_ONE

I guess I'll do one of these...

Ugrad: Accounting w/pre-reqs taken in unofficial post bacc @ university (not CC)....have accounting work experience as well.
GPA: 3.1
SciGPA: 3.25
DAT: 20AA/17PAT/18 Sci Avg/None below 17/highs: 25RC, 22 Orgo

Applied to:
Alabama
AT Stills
Boston
GRU
LECOM
Kentucky
NOVA
NYU
Temple
Tennessee
Tufts
Louisville
USC (Ostrow in L.A.)

West Virginia

------Already received interview from Tennessee, but I'd like to see what everyone else thinks of my chances elsewhere, or if there are any additional schools I should add.

Thanks!!! (residency = Georgia)

Hello!

I took my DAT last week, please chance me!
I am a rising senior (class of '15) and although I submitted my app. in June, it will be complete in 2-3 weeks I guess, whenever DAT scores upload.
State of Residency: New York

DAT Scores:
Perceptual Ability: 19
QR: 18
Reading Comp: 22
Biology: 20
Gen. Chem: 22
Orgo: 24
TS: 22
AA: 21

oGPA: 3.60
sGPA: 3.45

Strengths: Leadership positions, Research exp., a lot of volunteering and shadowing hours, upward trend of 3.77 for the past 50+ credits.
Weaknesses: First year of undergrad: W in gen. chem I and C+ in gen. chem I the following semester... I guess my application is late as well, and I have only taken minimum pre-requisites, aka, no upper-level sciences.

My dream school is NYU!

Thanks.

nyu is supposedly the easiest to get into

Alright, well, considering my stats/situation, do you think I can attain a seat?
lmao 'situation'? you talk about your stats like they are bad or something.

gpa is above average for most pre dental admits
dat is also above average for most pre dental admits

you will get into nyu if not somewhere else.

lol thanks man, I honestly was upset with my first year W/C+ and stuff... thanks for your response, means a lot.

I just wanted to run by some information that I have found about Stonybrook dental school. I am sorry if this question had already been answered. I have heard that Stonybrook prefers to take out of state students, and if you are living in New York, you have no chance of getting in, so it is pointless to even apply there. I just wanted to find out if it is true, and up to what degree. I am a resident of the New York state.

Hye guys I have a question. I added a school to my aadsas app and wanted to take it away..like i changed my mind about applying to the school (Meharry). Is there a way that I can have it removed and get a $93 refund?

I called AADSAS office and theyre out for some training or something

I would guess no, especially if your app was already mailed to the school. At that point you would notify Meharry that you aren't considering their school. However, if they haven't mailed your app to the school, maybe they wouldn't mail it. A refund doesn't sound likely though....

Whoever told you that is completely wrong. According to 2014 ADEA Guide - 38 students in-state, 3 students out-of-state. Small class. Mostly NY residents.

thanks....yeah aadsas jsut replied to my email this morning saying that it wasnt possible and that i would have to leave it in there....i guess its not a bad thing though, if i get in at Meharry it just opens up another opportunity.

If not, well, i just blew $100 +

Hello guys, this is my first post. I've been lurking on here for a while, observing everyone's stats and interview requests for this cycle. I understand it's still fairly early in the cycle but I'm getting a bit worried since I haven't heard anything back yet, and so I was hoping to get some feedback on my application from you SDN veterans and knowledgeable folk.

B.Sc. in Biology
oGPA: 3.30
sGPA: 3.28

M.Sc. in Bioengineering / Biomedical Engineering
oGPA: 3.50
sGPA: 3.50

cGPA (B.Sc.+M.Sc.)
coGPA: 3.35
csGPA: 3.31

DAT: 18AA/19TS/18RC/19PA/17QR

I also have plenty of extracurricular, research, and shadowing hours.

Schools applied: BU, Tufts, NYU, PITT, UNE, MYD, VCU, WVA, HOW
I think you have a solid chance at getting some interviews. GPA and DAT scores aren't 95th percentile like some people on this website, but those are the outliers. My stats are similar and I'm applying to some of the same schools, so keep me updated!

I'm gonna try one of these as well, feel free to leave feedback!

3.55 overall and 3.3 Science GPA

DAT is a 19 AA/18 TS /18 PAT/22 RC/19 BIO/16 OCHEM/21 GEN CHEM

I'm a URM (Not sure if that actually helps), Division 1 athlete, about 100 shadowing hours and 400 volunteer hours. From a WICHE state and applying to MW-AZ, Colorado, Creighton, Tufts, UMKC, UNLV and Nebraska. Thinking about adding NYU and Western or USC

Do any of the schools do interviews without your DAT? I applied in July and did secondary's but I won't take my DAT for another week? Does this hurt my chances?

it potentially might bc it takes about 3~4 weeks for them to actually process the DAT score.
I don't think they give out interviews without DAT score, or at least I haven't heard of any case.

If your stats other than missing DAT is good, you still have a chance, even though it will be pretty late in the cycle.

seems pretty average, but if you are URM, you should consider applying to howard and meharry as back up and you probably have chances at other schools as well.

Can't say much without a DAT score. Your sGPA is a little bit low so I think 21+ science scores would show that you have aptitude in your sciences. Study hard and do as well as you can on your DAT exam. I am guessing you are applying next cycle? This cycle is late for you, considering you haven't taken the DAT yet.

Yes I'm applying for the next cycle. Probably taking my DAT in the Spring. If I do score a 20-21 which schools do you think I'd most likely get accepted to?

0GPA -3.47
sGPA-3.45

I go to a top 20 university in the world which is probably why my GPA stats are a little low but I was just curious what kind of DAT score I would potentially need to be a competitive applicant (will be taking it in June).

Schools I'm looking at applying to:
Marquette (in state)
Minnesota
Iowa
Creighton
Louisville
Tufts
Pitt
Midwestern
Ohio State
Case Western
NYU
Maryland

Just wondering where I should apply as a CA resident with these stats because I don't know which schools are OOS friendly. GPA is on the low side (had no idea what I wanted to do my first 2.5 years)

4th year at UCLA
-24 AA, 26 TS
~3.4 overall GPA
~3.2 sGPA
-80 hours volunteering/shadowing at the UCLA dental clinic
-25 hours shadowing private dentist
-lecture/hands on lab courses taught by UCLA dental students
-random little things

Any help is appreciated!

I would like some feedback as well. Join the train.

Washington resident. 250+ hours of shadowing and 1000+ of extra curricular and 300 of those are in the health care field.
Science GPA 3.2 with overall GPA of 3.4 Biochemistry and Music major. AA:20 TS: 20
Bio:21 Genchem: 22 Organic: 19 PAT: 19Reading: 20 QR: 19
Applied to: LECOM; Both Midwestern campuses, MOSDOH, Roseman in Utah, University of Colorado and Kentucky, Tufts, UTHSC in Tennessee.

I would answer you guys if I could, but as I'm neither an adcom nor a dental student (yet) I can't really offer much except to say that you both look good (noniceptors and Macabalony). I've been on these forums for 6 years now (lurked for 3) and your stats are right in the average territory which is a good thing. Having 250+ hours shadowing will be helpful Macabalony, but what do you mean by 1,000+ hours of ECs?

Being average for something as competitive as dentistry speaks is not being average compared to the rest of society.

Thank you friend!
1000+ hours of extra curricular volunteer service and time spent with the university. Those 1000+ hours are spread through a number of clubs, organizations and events.
