I am a junior in Biomedical sciences right now and am planning on doing a DIY post bacc starting this fall until spring of 2019. I calculated what my GPA would be if I received a 4.0 in my post-back and my cGPA would be 2.9. I was wondering how I could make up for my low GPA?

Is the projected 2.95 your cGPA? If so, what is your sGPA?

Doing a masters, as I have been told, doesn't really help offset your low undergraduate GPA at all.

I would suggest going the DIY post-bacc route to get both of your GPAs higher than 3.0. From there, everything will depend on your MCAT. If you score around the 505 mark, you could be competitive at some of the new D.O. schools.

Under a 3.0 mark for GPA will raise many red flags for med schools. I've been told that they really want to see your undergrad GPA. Honestly I would say you may want to start exploring other options than US medical school.
