Hi Guys,
this is my first time posting on here and I apologize if there is already a thread like this one, but I tried reading some and non exactly pertained to me so I thought I'd go ahead and post my story and see what you guys think. Please if you have anything rude to say don't say it, because I am here seeking advice.
So I took my DAT yesterday and I got the following scores:
Bio-20
G.Chem-26
O.Chem-21
RC-15
QR-14
AA:19/TS:21/PAT:19
My GPA is a 3.44
So basically, I am very overwhelmed and extremely anxious about the RC score that I got. I promise you I am not a terrible reader or whatever. When I was studying and doing my full length practice tests I was always getting 18 and 19 and once managed a 20. I never received that low of a score. I am not sure what happened to me on test day but I ran out of time (which never happened to me before) and I couldn't even answer the last four questions. I tried to do some research and I've been seeing a lot of mixed reviews about the fact that the RC score is important and that no one should receive lower than a 20 to be considered competitive, yet others say that some schools truly don't care about any scores other than the sciences. I really do not want to live the past three months again of studying non stop because it truly has been extremely exhausting. But if i have to i will do so to increase my scores. another thing that worries me is what if i cannot get the science scores that i got again. I am happy with them, but the RC score is really bringing me down and I am extremely upset about how the test went. I know my QR is also pretty low but from what I've heard schools tend to not worry about it as much, but if I retake the exam i will definitely work hard to improve it as well.
Please let me know what you guys think about whether i should retake the exam or not. I am also going to contact some people i know who would have good information about admissions and if i would be considered as a good candidate or not. I just really would like some input becasue i am feeling lost and i cannot stop thinking about it because i am very scared.
Thank you all.
