I'm actually sitting at my desk at the lovely Amgen Inc. in the beautiful Thousand Oaks, CA on my last day doing nothing but watching you guys with anticipation and glee.

I think I'm supposed to be doing something productive, but that's not going to fly. What should YOU guys be doing?

Haha... i was just thinking about this. I have about 8 different things i have left til the last minute... 4 papers, 2 tests, 2 powerpoints All due next week too and i'm still not doing anything. But it's business school... it's a joke, it's definitely not like science classes.

SHOULD be doing an article analysis for my medical data anaylsis class, writing my 10-15 pager on cellular aging, or preparing my presentation on neuroimaging...but instead i'm cleaning my apt and doing laundry and sitting on the computer and cooking dinner and....you get the idea😎

Still surprisingly rich but the mood amongst employees is pretty slummy. Parking lot is getting emptier and emptier by the day.

Although on the plus side anybody with experience here usually finds a comparable job elsewhere pretty quickly so don't feel too bad! 🙂

Interestingly enough, (to the person who started this thread), I work for a company doing elemental analysis on samples from academia and pharm. companies. I know that we get stuff from Amgen all the time. Maybe I've seen your work.

But I can't even think because two of the schools I interviewed at made offers today, and I didn't hear from either of them.

The problem with that, though, is that biotech laborers tend to need to relocate to find a new job, and that's the hitch. Especially with the real estate market right now, a lot of my friends are faced with serious losses if relocation requires them to move to another city. The severance packages don't come close to compensating for the differences.
