My counselor is of no hope so I figured I would see if anyone else has any ideas; my problem is that Im having trouble deciding on the best course schedule I should take through the rest of college. I am in my second year but considered a freshman due to a car accident so really this past semester was like my first😕

Early in my first semester I had a car accident and was paralyzed for 4 months. I withdrew that semester and returned the spring semester but unfortunately missed alot of class and one of my proffesors dropped my grade 2 letters so I filed for an appeal this past semester and it was approved so my grades for the previous semester were dropped. This last semester I took Cell Bio and Chem2 but due to my grades getting dropped I am forced this semester to retake Bio 2 and Chem 1 (so im going back in class sequence)

My main problem is that I dont know if I should take as many classes over the summer to try and make up for my lost semesters, and if I do would it cause any problems when taking the MCAT or applying to med school? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

The problem with taking summer sessions is that you're doing the same amount of work in 1/2 the time. Can you do that? If so then taking a course or two to keep your sequences going would be okay.

There's nothing wrong with staying an extra semester or two to make it up since you have a legit reason for doing so. But if you think you can handle the rigor of summer classes, it's a fine idea to take them then. Also you said you had Cell and Chem 2-did you do well in them/not have many problems? If so you'll probably be okay taking Bio2/Chem 1 during the summer.

You can take your MCAT the summer after sophomore year, junior year, or even after senior year if you want. Since you are considered a freshman, summer courses now won't affect your MCAT or applying to schools. Sometimes research programs that are intense won't allow you to do coursework while participating in them, but you have other summers for that & can always still volunteer/work/whatever else you want with summer class.

I recieved A's in all of my classes. I think I will go ahead and do what I can during the summer. Thanks for the help
