What type of question will I be asked during the interview? Are they standard questions or will it be different from one person to another? Also, will I be given some time to talk about myself, such as to give a reason for why my GPA is low (3.0)? Thanks 🙂

Well, SDN has a nice little section where applicants post feedback about their interviews. This feedback includes a few questions from their actual interviews.😉

Some interviewers may give you a chance to explain any "red flags" such as bad grades, but some may not. From my experience, it's better not to wreck any good mojo by making a negative point about yourself. The same adcoms will see your GPA anyway so you shouldn't be redundant. Address any grades in an indirect manner such as a story about personal struggle and your pathway to persevere from it if applicable.

For most closed-file interviews where the adcoms don't have much prior knowledge about you, most of the questions are general though I was asked reflective questions about some specific details in a statement I just made. However, the question set may be slightly different for each applicant in the same school based on the SDN feedback we have received. I would expect more personal questions for an open-file interview. Either way, it is customary to be asked a question that requires you to introduce yourself.
