So, I am bored with animal nutrition (poor prof is sick of my odd questions from years on the farm) and started wondering what everyone's degree/major/specialization is?

I have a BA in biology, specialization ethology, concentration (minor) in enivronmental science and research capstone in physio-toxicolgy

I'm going for a BS in Biology. No minors at my university. 🙁

I'll have a BS degree in Biomedical Sciences in May.

I have a BS in zoology and a minor in animal ecology.

BA in Zoology

BS in Mathematics with a minor in Biology...

I'm an odd one!

BA in Psychology with a minor in professional writing, and graduating this summer with an MS in Biomedical Sciences.

In May I'll get my BS in Agricultural Economics.

...another slightly strange degree -- we only have 5-7 pre-vets in the entire department of ~250 at one time.

I love math...I could have easily 'minored' in it... I voluntarily took advanced mathematic systems, number theory, and calc based statistics (along side calc based physics!)

OMG, i thought i was the ONLY one with a BA in Biology! My school did not offer the BA, but i refused to take Physics, so the Registrar told me they would have to give me a BA.

Sumstorm, how did you end up with a BA? Is this a normal option?

Note: i am taking Physics now....years and years after the fact. I knew it would catch up with me someday.

B.S. in Biology concentration is pre-vet and a minor in History. I graduate in May.

I am a current biology major at a CC, but am switching to a university.

I think I am doing zoology and medical micro with immunology. If I don't do one of them, I am going into marine.

Math is my biggest weakness. I really have to work at it the most out of any subject.

Flyhi, I attended a liberal arts college which only does BA's. Doesn't matter how hard core your science curric is, you will have a BA there, because it goes with the lib arts standard.

B.S. in Biology with a minor in Microbiology. I also have a Masters of Public Health with a concentration in infectious disease epidemiology.

I used to think I wanted to be a biochem major, but when I didn't do well in the chems I took already and found out you needed physical chemistry..well..

Physical chemistry has to be the worst.

BAs in biological sciences and religious studies, minor in history, MA in biological sciences (topic of thesis and coursework was endocrine disruption of the reproductive system, nutrition, and behavior). 😀

Wow, DemosthenesUSC! I don't think I've seen another pre-vet RS major! Are you doing an emphasis in any one area or just kind of all over? Mine was in the history of Christianity (fit in well as a history minor), but I enjoyed Buddhism and Native American religion as well. Islam was interesting as well.

I'm not a Chem major, but with all the pre-reqs (and a few extras) I found out I am one class away from a Chem B.S. -- and I am really NOT a chem person, so I thought it was funny. Unfortunately, that class is PChem and would have to be taken in my LAST semester, which wasn't going to happen while finishing GERs and working at a clinic.

Pchem is just a class I never want to look at EVER.

Its bad enough in the last few years Cornell added 2 biochems as required classes, but I hear good things about that class. I hope no vet schools I ever wanted to apply to require it. That would be nuts.

It's always interesting to find another Religious Studies major out in the field. I didn't actually concentrate on any particular area, but if I had to set some type of boundary I would say I focused more on Christianity and Islam. I really wish my department offered courses on Native American traditions, but we just didn't have the faculty for it. However, the courses I received on Islam and Christianity were top-notch, and they provided a whole new perspective concerning the relationship between all the major religious traditions for me to carry forward into life.

Finished May '07... B.S. in Biology with a minor in Philosophy

In progress... M.S. in Biology (Ecology concentration)

Physical chemistry has to be the worst.
Pchem is the only thing stopping me from a minor in Chemistry. I don't figure I'll need it for anything of import and everyone I've talked to said they'd rather give up their first born then take it again, so I'm not even going to bother.

AB in Music (Cello Performance) and Biology

BSE in computer science, minor in math. Hooray for engineering .

B.S. in Health Sciences minor in Biology with Spanish certificate. My school has no animal specific degrees unfortunately 🙁

Wow, that's very interesting. I also attended a small liberal arts college - clay, drama and art majors galore, but our Bio, Chem, Biochem and Physics majors (prob others as well) were BS. As a matter of fact, they just became a satellite campus for LECOM - Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Pretty exciting for a school that only had 1k students when I attended.

thanks for the info - i learn something new every day 😀

BSc in Nutritional Science

...because food is awesome! 😍

BSE in computer science, minor in math. Hooray for engineering .

Huh, at my institute computer science was offered through the college of science and not the college of engineering.(although I took the entire engineering core curriculum before declaring CS).

So I am a BS in computer science.

BS Biological Science with a Chem minor

Flyhi, my school prided itself on having around 1200 students between 4 years, with at least 1/5 at international or off campus field programs at any given time. We have several early admissions programs with med schools.... too bad we don't have any with vet schools! Each lib arts school is different, but ours was founded in the tradition that the science, religion, and arts are intimatly tied together, and so they only confer one degree, deeming all studies equal. An obnoxious problem with that is the term system...we had a 3-3 system, meaning three terms, each the equivalent of a semester for most universities, and we earned 1 credit per class...didn't matter whether it was in writing, art, speech, chem with labs, or research. 1 term = 1 credit. However, my education enable me to recieve a fellowship that funded a year of international research in conservation, so I can't really gripe (unless I don't get into vet school!)

B.S. in Biology and Latin with a minor in Chemistry.

BSE in computer science, minor in math. Hooray for engineering
Sigh, this is way off topic but for a moment I was wondering what Mad Cow Disease had to do with computer science.

B.S. Zoology in May 2010. LOL. I'm a bit behind due to lack of planning, I have one fall only and one spring only class left after this semester. So I'm forced to drag it out. 🙂

Edit: Hahaha, Bachelor's in Spongiform Encephalopathy!

My school used to only offer BAs in biology, but last year they sent out an email telling us that from now on they'd be giving out BSs with no changes in the required coursework.

I have an AAS in mortuary science, and I have a BS in organismic biology in progress.

BA in Biology (same boat here with the small liberal arts college only offering BA's, though I know some out there do both). and a minor in History.

BS Computer Science - 2004 (also offered through college of sciences at my university)

BS Molecular Biology and Microbiology - 2007

working on MS in Animal Biology - projected 2010 (thesis & coursework in companion animal population genetics, behavior genetics and some fun little bioinformatics scripting and genomics work on the side 🙄 )

gah

BS in Biology and BS in Health Education and Promotion minor in Pre Health Occupations East Carolina Unv. May 2008

BS in Equine Science & Management + minor in pre-vet.

Soon to be awarded BS in Animal Science and BS in Toxicology. And Honors in Toxicology.

B.S. in Biology

I go to a small liberal arts school as well (2,400). When we declared, they asked if we wanted a B.S. or B.A.. Biology Majors, no matter which degree, have to take all the same classes though, so really, it's just a title for us...😕

BS in Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry.

HopefulAg:  Hah, nice. 😀

B.A. in Psychology and will have a B.S. in Biology before I get to vet school...
