a question for current d-students...when do classes begin for most incoming d1's?? Before labor day, after labor day? I.m talking classes here folks, not orientation and other activities like that. Im trying to get into an ironman race on august 30th, 2009 and Im not sure i want to plop down the $500 to reserve my spot if i will be busy with ramping up for first semester...thanks

LOL... At VCU... around July 23. We start early though. Even D2-4s start around July 28. As a D-2, I am already a month into classes.

Started today!

I started today also! Crazy stuff...

Also to the OP: It doesn't matter whether it is considered orientation or the first day of classes. They give you a date and you must be there on that day. I have orientation still for the rest of the week, but on my documentation it said if I didn't report today by 8:30 am, they would give away my seat.

NUCD:

orientation was 8/18
class began 8/25

UTHSCSA

D1 - July 14
D2 - July 21
D3 - July 7
D4 - July 7

Louisville started July 1st. I am done with Gross as of today and about to finish DA in another few weeks.

I like the way your school does it... we had gross anatomy last year from July to January and Dental Anatomy from July to May... we didn't have operative though... do y'all?

Minnesota started classes on August 25th but orientation started on the 20th.

The thing is, we only have Gross and DA during the summer semester, that's why we are able to finish in 2 months.

Our summer schedule was pretty much 8-12 for Gross and 1-5 for DA 5 days a week...

Operative is supposed to pick up right after DA, will end in just a few weeks.

Nice. That is a good reason.

I think you'll be stepping on the beginning few weeks at almost all schools.

I think even our buddies at UCSF will be started by then!

Pacific is in the 7th week or so by then (begins right after July 4).

I say go for the race no matter what....you might not do as well due to your d-school time requirements but you'll still get to compete.

classes at Ohio State start Sept. 29 - orientation is Sept. 22

ucla 9/22, ohio 9/29?
wow, starting so late is foreign to me....

Buffalo.
Orientation for D1 began august 6th. For D2-D4 they started on august 12th. Regular class schedule started on August 18th.

stony: we started on tuesday 8/26 and had our first anatomy lab the next day. you're probably going to want to give yourself some time to settle in the area/get used to your apartment as well.
