I have a quick question. When is the best time to apply for veterinary schools? When is it considered late? When should the gre be taken? I'm sorry if this has been posted somewhere else, but i'm trying to help a friend figure some things out.

The application opens in June and for schools that use the VMCAS is due usually Oct 1 or 2nd. The GRE deadline depends on the schools they are applying to check with the schools but taking it before august 30 should be safe. There is no advantage to submiting the application super early but I would submit a few weeks before the deadline to avoid server issues.

But then you have schools like Ohio where getting your application in early gets you the supplemental sooner. And getting the supplemental submitted sooner can lead to earlier invites which can then turn into early acceptances.

i'd say apply after you've taken all your hardcore science classes. the only classes i had left were biochem and micro classes (for a minor) after i applied. 🙂 if i could do it over....i'd want my last year to be filled with ceramics and painting classes. lol. 🙂
