OK - we're waiting one more week for decisions,,,but I'm trying to look ahead and see what we need to do for financial aid if accepted. The Scholarships application page Our Opportunities - Virginia Tech Scholarship Central says the VAMD scholarship applications are due June 4 2025. It then goes on to say "Prospective Students – Students applying for admission to Virginia Tech who wish to apply for scholarships first need to complete the admissions application. After submitting your admissions application, you will should receive an email from the Office of Admissions with instructions on creating your admissions portal login credentials. After logging into your admissions portal, you may login to the system by clicking on the Scholarship Central link"........but I'll say I don't think I've ever received an admissions portal for my vet school application. Have I somehow missed it? And if you all received it, what was the email title? I have looked everywhere for 20 mins, and I don't have one.
Once you are accepted, you will get a link/instructions to create a PID for virginia tech. This will allow you to login to the portal and apply for scholarships. Some are very specific, others are quite broad.

I know the delay really sucks, but VT was closed for 2 days this past week due to snow/ice, so it probably back-logged some things in admissions. The admissions team is awesome, so I'm sure that they are doing their vey best to release all decisions asap. So excited for all of you!

Remember to take deep breaths!

Will they call or email decisions?
In the past, decisions have been sent via email!

Do we think today is the day? My guess is that they were postponed due to power outages and weather-related school closure for two days last week, and I would hope they would try to get ahead of yet more wintery conditions forecasted for tomorrow and onward. (I will make ANY connection to attempt to predict this I'm about to lose my mind)

I hope so! For some reason I'm assuming it will be Friday but I would be thrilled to hear earlier

You know we out here with the good luck socks B)
Got that VMCVM drip
(More truthfully I'm going stir crazy waiting to hear back haha. Best of luck to everyone!)

I don't think it'll be today but I'm with you trying to make connections haha. I originally thought Wednesday but that was before I knew about the snow coming so who knows

do we think tomorrow bc of the snow?
It’ll likely be tomorrow or Friday. But, I could see them pushing it to next week even because weather has been pretty nasty up there from what I’m hearing about! It’s so hard to be patient but they’re trying their best for sure. We’ll know soon!

I wish we were able to know our spot on the alternate list now 🙁 I get why they wait until most people select a school since the lists probably move a lot at this point but I feel like every time I think the waiting is over, suddenly there is something else I am waiting to hear...

Oos alternate, does anyone know if we could get pulled off the waitlist before April or they will only start letting people know after the 15th? Also does anyone know how much the oos waitlist has moved in the past ?

Also curious about waitlist movement for OOS and IS

Fifteen to twenty OOS per year usually. Does anyone know about the VA ratio for seats to interviews?
OOS alternate :/

Do you mean that out of those on the waitlist that 15-20 of the OOS people are accepted? Do you have a rough estimate of how many OOS are on the waitlist? Thanks!

One of my attending friends said one of her classmates was offered a seat within the program during the first week of classes, so there's always hope!

I heard from the admissions people last year that they get about 10x applications per seat for each IS category (VA, MD and WV), and interview about twice as meany as they have seats available overall.

To everyone who didn’t get the news they were hoping for today...whether you were waitlisted or didn’t get in...please know that this is not the end of your journey. As hard as it may feel right now, take today (and maybe even tomorrow) to grieve, to feel your emotions, and to process everything. But don’t let this stop you from chasing your dream. You will do great things, and sometimes the path just takes a little longer than expected.

I was in your exact position last year...I was waitlisted, and the day I got that email was absolutely horrible. I won’t go into details, but that day turned into one of the worst days of my life, and I was in a bit of a funk for several days. But after coming to terms with everything, I started making plans to reapply, figuring I’d take the next year to grow, improve, and live my life outside of school. And then, when I least expected it, I got an email saying I was off the waitlist.

If you were waitlisted, don’t lose hope...there’s still a chance! If you didn’t get in, don’t let this define you. One thing I highly recommend is meeting with an academic advisor over the summer to go over your application and see where you can improve- they should send out emails later this spring closer to this summer. But don’t overthink things too much (I know, almost impossible in this career and with how hard you worked to get here). Sometimes it’s just about timing.

The best advice I can give is to keep moving forward—keep making plans as if you won’t get in this year, but also leave room for the possibility that you will. No matter what happens, you are not defined by this one moment, and your journey isn’t over. Everything is okay, and you will get there. Keep pushing forward. Just keep swimming <3

IS (VA) rejected 🙁 feeling a bit better today though. My friend who didn't get an interview this cycle got an email from VMCVM about an application review appointment with the admissions staff. Do they wait to send that out to those who got an interview? Apparently spots are already full within 40 minutes of them sending out the link so kind of freaking out lol

Last year they didn't offer me an application review bc "if you got an interview your app is obv good" but they did do an interview review over the summer where they went over what questions I could improve on

If any committed students want to chat about roommates/housing feel to PM me!

did anyone was who accepted/waitlisted high enough, indicate they were interested and actually want do the brand-new DVM/PhD (leaving class after year two and committing to eight years of school)? Because if no one they think is a good fit checked the box, they might reconsider me (I had the flu the week of Kira and I’m lowkey delulu XD) to fill the program. Also, please share it the group me and lmk!

I emailed and am waiting for a response. I would not imagine much if any DVM-PhD hopefuls applied here because they took down their program site last cycle so they could have missed applying

If it’s flexible (you don’t have to start in the program), I don’t think expressing interest would affect your chances at all. Either way, if they don’t have a separate application process and you were considered through the regular pool, whatever decision you received would be a final decision. I’m sorry. 😔

I do hope your email gives some direction and peace of mind! ❤️ This process is so puzzling to navigate, especially if there are programs available to “check” on applications that don’t have pages on the website. Was it a pilot? Is it possible they decided not to move forward with it?
