I am needing to do a few CEs this year to retain my Certification which is hitting the 2-year mark on 12-31-2011. I know about Pharmacy Times and a class I can take for 7 CEs but was wondering where everyone else gets their CEs completed.

I'll have to do about 2 Credits a month to complete the 20 I need. It's been a fast year and never got the chance to work on this but I figure I'll be good to go on this schedule.

Anyone have any suggestions for where I should complete these?

Thanks in Advance.

Best,

Steven

If for Cpht (which I assume since you're prepharm) then a science or math class fulfills 15 of those 20 hrs. Just throwing that out there. Keep a transcript of some kind if you are audited. You still need to do a law CE but I'm sure that 7 hr CE class has that so you can take it and knock it out by itself.

But to answer your question the PTCB has some free ones on their website and working for a chain I had access to the pharmacy technician letter. It has TONS of CEs on there. like over 200 hrs last time I checked. I also did a review sponsored by the NC BOP which is a class (probably like that one you mentioned) and that did the law and all the minimum hours I needed. But we're both students so a class does give like 15 of the 20 hrs necessary by itself.

Correct, I am a CPhT only. Wow, that is encouraging. I finished Physics this last semester and I believe I did Calculus last Spring, so I will contact the PTCB sometime within the next few days to verify whether I need to do anything more.

I have already taken that 7 credit course and would rather not. It consisted of an 8 hr class on a Saturday that was a general class. I will look into more Law type CEs though.

Thanks for the info.

There's also this website:

They have CE's for just about everything. Plus, they keep a running total so you can keep track of what you've done, and what you need. I've used them for years and had very little problems. Just FYI.

If you've taken a bio or chem course in the last two years, like they said above it should count. Will you post back if calculus or physics counts?

To input it is really easy. You literally just put in the course title and the college name and 15 hours. I did the rest of mine via the Pharmacy Technician's Letter in a day.

As soon as I find out, I'll post.

According to that calc. counts. Physics might not since count since most places don't count it as a "life science" but rather a "physical science" but the description on PTCB includes chemistry as a life science and it is usually a physical as well.

At the very worst you have calculus. But please try physics for us so we know for a fact ^_^

Okay. I just sent an email to them and have logged in to the link. My expiration date actually is March 31, 2012, so there is some good news.

I told them I had taken General Biology I and Calculus I if General Physics I is not taken. I am also starting Microbiology I tomorrow, so there is that.

Anyways. I'll post their response.

Best,

Steven

Dear Steven,

Yes you may use this CE for 15 hours but make sure that you have the transcript from your school.

Thank you,

Charisse

There is you answer. Physics I is okay. If anyone else needs to update for the first time, I did write a tutorial for it.
