my application is ready to submit but i have been waiting because i dont know where to apply to.
then i read somewhere, maybe on this site, that you should apply to a school that you dont care about just so the application is time stamped?
so my question is how do i know to where? do i just pick somewhere at random? high chance schools? long shot schools? schools that i definitely do not want to go to? or ??

If you're going to submit to only one school intitially to get the verification process started, it shouldn't be a school you don't care about. What if it were the only school that ultimately accepted you? Only apply to schools where you'd be happy to attend if it were your only acceptance.

Until you complete a well-researched list of schools, I'd suggest that you apply to one that is within your stats range, perhaps a state school. You can easily add additional schools later without compromising your spot in the queue.
