I can't figure out what size I am for a white coat. I'm 5'9, male and 160lbs, average build.

xs 30-32
s 34-36
m 38-40
l 42-44
xl 46-48

What do these numbers correspond to? Is it the distance around the chest? For that, I'm 36". But im not sure what size i should get for that or if thats what the numbers are supposed to correspond to. Any help?

Go to a store that sells suits (Men's Wherehouse, etc) or a dept store with a person that does measurements and get some measurements for a suit jacket. That should correspond to good white coat size. Takes a min.

Go with a medium; it will give you some room to move but still look like a good fit.

My suit coat size is 38...im pretty sure, good fitting suit so thats probably right then huh? medium

My school recommended going one size larger than your suit coat size . . . so your size 38 suit coat would become a size 40 white coat. I would rather go larger than get stuck with a coat that is too short and too tight for 4 years.

all the ladies like it when we guys wear extra small. it's got that tight fit.

Do you think we will be able to try on the white coat before the ceremony. I can just see myself walking up, trying to put on the thing, and it being way to small or large. That would really start my medical education off with a bang.

this is the exact advice I followed and it worked out quite well for me. I'd suggest you do the same. At my school they let us try on different sizes before ordering them just in case. :horns:

anyone work out a lot and not want their white coat to look like a giant parachute in order to fit the upper body

Uh oh. I got a size larger than usual (got a L). I though some ppl said u should get a larger size because it has to fit over ur winter clothes when it's cold, etc. LOL. I hope it doesnt look too big on me. 🙄

I'm a petite female, and none of the women's white coats fit me. I tried on the men's small coat and it fit perfectly! Plus I was getting some appreciative glances from cute guys in the audience ;-) Ladies, try it out!
