Why close a good thread?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I wouldn't mind posting a pic, but the problem is the chance any of you are from my city is slim. Also, what if some Craigslist nut surfs these boards er something?

I'd be nice if any of you were from my city.. cause then you could just meet and decide if you wanna bang me or not (or get deepthroated).

most men find me attractive. Exotic, Latina/Italian/Mid east look (fair skin tho). I'm curvy in a good way, not a 250lbs who's in denial 😀 workout like a mad woman!

My most notable features are my eyes & lips. The lips seem to drive most men wild, even the gays! All through school my profs wanted to do me.

there are approximately zero women who think and talk like this

If you only knew how much I wish we were in the same city so you could eat your words! Might post a pic with my face blocked out and holding a sign that says 'Morgue Kitty' with today's date.

I grew up with only brothers and all my friends are guys... so I act boyish despite being very feminine.

It is the net however, so I don't blame you for feeling that way. I doubt you guys too! Probably a bunch of 500lbs drag queen molester nuts 😀

BTW -- I must REALLY research embalming for a 'phony'.... 🙄

I would like to see a handful of the legitimate posters who have been banned be given a second chance on here. Is there a mechanism to give them a second chance, if they promise to behave? Even murderers often get a second chance.

I had one PM related to bans last week so I'll just publicly repeat my answer to that, and expand a bit.

I do not disagree with you. The moderation system is rather opaque and I often find myself wishing it was a little more transparent - but the system was set up this way and has mostly worked very well over the lifetime of SDN. The privacy policy is strict, the NDA legally binding. The intent is politeness and respect to the members who are subject to the admittedly lopsided mod and admin forum-power. So as usual, neither I or any of the other moderators can make specific comments on specific cases.

Concerning bans. For new users, there's a specific sequence of warnings, infractions, and post-holds prior to a ban. People who register new accounts and start trolling or posting ads immediately get auto-banned. 99% of these are just spammers and everyone's glad to see them gone. Apart from them -

1) Previously banned people that make new accounts that we can ID and link to a prior ban get re-banned immediately. Sometimes they self-ID, usually not.

2) Every once in a great while, a previously banned user returns, creates a new account, flies under the radar for a while (sometime a long while!), behaves and contributes, and doesn't do any of the things that got him warned, warned again, warned again, post-held, and finally banned in the first place. When we catch on and connect the dots, we'll let it slide, and these previously-banned people dwell among us in peace. After all, there's no reason to chase off someone who, for whatever reason, reformed his wayward ways and became a born-again good contributing member. But at the first hint of trouble they're banned again (ie, they don't start over with warnings and post-holds).

The moderating opacity surrounding either of these, especially the latter, can be frustrating to other members who don't see a reason for an abrupt ban.

Recently, both of these things have happened to different users.

Is there an after-ban appeal mechanism? Not really. The appeal stage is throughout the series of warning and post-hold period(s) when the user has PM access and can respond to the moderating staff, plead his case, argue, agree to behave, or finger the other guy who started it.

The "quietly come back a few months later and fly under the radar for a while" method is the usual (but still uncommon) way to overcome a ban. Certainly those users with colorful personalities or distinctive posting styles have a harder time staying off the radar ...

... which is why I basically agree with you that perhaps there ought to be a way, after X period of time, for a previously banned user to try again without a need for stealth. Even the Soup Nazi limited his bans to one year.

I'll bring up the subject to the site staff. Of course anything that is done (or not done) will be with the overall site's health in mind, of which the anesthesiology forum is just a small part.

If any mods read this I'd appreciate it if you delete this thread, and my previous one.

The reasoning being I AM EXACTLY what I said I am, and it'd be very easy to pinpoint me in real life.

Now, goofing around on the net isn't so bad & these threads are kinda fun! However, when I do need the services of an anesthesiologist I'd hate for the situation to get awkward/unprofessional because they recognize me from these postings.

Anesthesiologists rock! And I'd have no problem pouncing on the opportunity, but I don't want it to be 'are you MorgueKitty?!', and thus not taken seriously when I need real medical help.

Thanks for the very fair and sensible response. I hope the the site's staff give the idea strong consideration. Thanks for all you do to make this a good site.

Maybe if I saw that you were age 25, lived in Canada, female, attractive, worked at a morgue and were on several psychotropic medications then I would suspect morgue kitty.

So, my guess is that your Secret sexual fantasy is safe for now. I doubt anyone would recognize you from these postings and there are a lot of single Residents studying Anesthesiology in Canada.

I'm not on drugs! !!

Off topic: Pink Floyd's avatar... hahaha!!! 😀

Imagine her surprise if she went to the ASA meeting in San Francisco and realized that a large number of anesthesiologists are huge nerds.

Umm.... I took health science & some premed... I'm fully aware it attracts the compassionate (that'll change!), the cold & weird, & the nerdy!!

This thread is necessary... it's a timid attempt to remind people of this forum's old personality.
It's not offensive and it's not insulting to anyone.
Kitty could be anyone... she could be a dude or exactly what she says she is... I still say thank you Kitty for this refreshing contribution.

You know what I LOVE about this post, planktonmd? Is that it shows doctors are no different than the rest of us. People put doctors on a God like pedestal, yet you guys troll away too or act like any other loon on the net

You're welcome plankton, I am very eccentric and people do love that about me despite me not going out of my way to be entertaining. I can still make plenty of posts like this that are less revealing of me...

You can thank me by taking me into an examining room, then strapping me down to a table and... 😉

The forum I moderate allows me to ban people for a week, 1,3,6,12mo and permanently. I don't see why all bans need to be permanent. After all, if you come back after a year, you must want to be there.
Something to think about at the next big mod circle jerk.

Morgue Kitty was fun, I'll miss him.

We already have a short 'ban' option ... aka 2-week post-hold. It frequently precedes a regular ban.

Established users really have to work hard to get banned. There's a mile of rope. I'm not sure that offering 1.2 miles of rope by creating a 3/6/12 month post-hold option would change much in the long run, though I can't say I'd object to having the option.

Ongoing. 🙂

Heh.

I wish there was a chance to meet and get banged hard by an anesthetist in his uniform in a hospital room, and I'd want him to finish off in my mouth.

-sigh- should have came on to my anesthetist a few weeks ago....

....said no female EVER.

....said no female EVER.

AGREED - women just don't talk like this. At least no woman with any decency and self worth would. Unfortunately, some of my fellow females feel the need to get male attention in any way they can find it. It's typically the ones who have no self confidence that need men to make them feel bette and will obtain that attention in any manner necessary. It's really sad. I hope that poster can get some psychiatric help and I pray there was never a dead anesthesiologist in her care as an embalmer. Who knows what kind of sick and disturbed stuff a person like this would do.

This is pretty much the most informative post of how things work around here that I have seen in a long time (if ever) around here.

Essentially, nobody gets banned unless it is for a really good reason.

I don't moderate any other websites so I don't know how they work behind the scenes. Places like sermo seem to whack members on a whim sometimes though. That does not happen on this site.

Well... Arch... it is appreciated that you don't whack people on a whim, and understand that some controversy is actually healthy and desirable from time to time 🙂
