...I just find it sooooooooo annoying. Someone wil be like "I got an interview at X school" and someone else will be like "Congrats, can you please post your stats" and then nothing. What's the big deal about posting your GPA, PCAT scores? If ppl ask you to do so, they just want to figure out where they stand and whether or not they have a shot at X school. It's not like we know who you are.....This is the beauty and purpose of SDN..........So please post your stats if someone asks!! Otherwise keep your interviews/acceptances to yourself!🙂

Well some people for instance like me have posted it a number of times already, and if people really want to know my stats they can check to see my previous posts.

It gets annoying when people keep asking for stats, but can't check to see if maybe we already posted them already...

I agree with this...but I've seen countless threads about ppl saying "I got an interview/acceptance", and then if asked right away, they never share their stats and they keep ignoring the question and then several people keep asking them again. If your stats are no one else's business then your interviews/acceptances should be no one else's business too! ...sigh...some people just make me wonder.....ok my rant is over🙂

some people don't like to ***** out their stats...i understand that finding their stats may be hard because you'd have to search each of their posts

but once you've posted your stats 2-3 times..you don't feel like posting them again in each thread..that's how i feel anyway

i think the best thing to do would be to PM them. many people have PM'd me asking for my stats etc and i happily PM them back w/ all the info they need

i know everyone's annonymous on this forum...but after a while on here you kind of gain an identity.

also...some people aren't proud of their stats and won't want to post them up--simple as that

People can post what they want, if they do not want to post their stats that is their business. What people write on here is what they decide is other people's business and what they do not write is what they decide is not other people's business, some people do not post their stats for whatever reason.
Whining that you can't get what you want is not going to help you so settle down.

touche. I know...I know..I just wanted to vent b/c SDN is frustrating at times....🙂

meh stats are overrated. i used to be obsessed about it but it seems like there r ppl w/ lower stats who gets interview over me, but it also seems like i've gotten interviews over ppl w/ better stats...so it really doesn't tell you anything.

like all the previous posters, i've posted my stats here and there many times, but i still get asked that questions b/c ppl r too lazy to look up one previous page in the SAME thread. I mean, if ur interested in so-and-so school, the least you can do is skim thru the thread about that school instead of asking the same darn q over and over again. so YES sdn aggrevates me stimes! b/c ppl r too darn lazy!!!

Why don't people drop and do 20 push ups when you ask them to?

exactly.

i know that i personally use to search a members old posts to see if they posted their stats in a previous thread.

Same here. I've posted my stats numerous times. And I agree with what Michelle said also. I've come to realize that stats are not everything and I've gotten interviews over others who had better stats at times.

If someone is really interested in knowing the PCAT or some specific Q, just PM the individual. Everytime someone has PMed me, I directly answered their question.

I can understand people get annoyed when you're repeatedly asked the same question over and over. But it's only takes <10 seconds of your life to respond to someone asking about your stats instead of them searching through 1000's of threads searching for your stats. We're here to help one another get the best chance of being accepted, right? And I don't understand why some people are so secretive about their stats. HELLO, WE DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE. We don't care if you make a 2.0 or a 4.0.

I agree, if you're here just to gloat, go choke and die.

Do we have to be so sarcastic and surly every time someone posts a legitimate question or comment? I'm not taking either side as I understand both views, but it seems so unnecessary to be unprofessionally rude about it as well.

Just my two cents...I'm fairly new to this site, but I'm gradually starting to see more and more of this scolding attitude towards others concerns rather than helpfulness. 🙁 Isn't this site supposed to be useful, informative and motivating above all else?

I agree--lots of overreaction to every little thing. 🙄

Let's all put our stats in our signatures. Problem solved!

Of course I'm exempt cuz I'm a first-semester Freshman 😀.

Thank you for doing that for me 🙂

So pharmy614...... What are your stats?

.............So please post your stats if someone asks!! Otherwise keep your interviews/acceptances to yourself!🙂

Perhaps, someone should start a thread where members just post their stats😕

To pharmy614 and others who have contributed to this discussion, congratulations: you pricked my conscience sufficiently that I went and posted my stats. However, to accomodate those with the other viewpoint, if you really care you will have to go search to find out where they are posted! (Not very difficult- I don't post very often . . .)

Good Point!

Typically its because I miss the later posts asking... but on a higher level, it does not convey the knowledge to which you think it is.

At my school - this year - are students with GPAs ranging from 2.8 to 4.0. With a range like that - you can imagine that GPA just does NOT tell the story.

You can take this to the bank though - if you have a low GPA - you can still get into school - NOW STOP ASKING FOR GPAs - that is only part of the story.

seriously, how long does it take to repost your stats?

it'd probably take less time then answering a PM

you just need to type "GPA X.X PCAT XX%"

that is 13 characters (no space) or 16 characters with space

less than 10 sec worth of work

right just bc someone has a 4.0 dosnt mean they are smarter than someone with a 3.2. reason behind that has to do with class rigor but pcat comes into play in these situations.

"smarter" is subjective. it takes more than smarts to make it through pharmacy and to become a really good pharmacist (i.e. with flying colors).

... personally i don't think G.P.A's say a whole lot about what is to happen next.

i think there are several threads discussing others stats. i noticed a new trend here where now there are threads about schools and under those threads people that got in state there stats at that thred.

I agree - do some work to get an answer. Otherwise, just pm the individual and kindly ask them if you really want to know. You can also ask helpful questions about what possibly made them get selected (if their G.P.A. was low)? People might be happy to share their strengths with you! Remember that you're the one asking for information. And it's not like someone has to give you their stats. Everything is out of kind regards.

what people say when they have a crappy gpa

and this is my first time applying, i haven't gotten interview (they offer interviews late may mid june) so theres no point in me posting them

I don't even get how posting GPA is relevant. If you went to a really prestigious/difficult school like UC berkeley, a 3.0 is much better than a 3.4 at let's say a CSU. And a 4.0 from a community college really doesn't say too much either. Most people who apply aren't from UC berkeley or got their degrees from a community college. They went to a school somewhere in between in terms of prestige. Since most pharmacy school's average GPA is roughly 3.3 through 3.5, I would say if you went to a semi-decent school with a 3.3 through 3.5 gpa, that'll probably get you an interview.

well, first of all, i'm not sure how knowing someone else's G.P.A. could actually help you.

... as for my G.P.A., i'm sorry you like assuming others have crappy G.P.A's. don't be saying when you don't know the truth.

*shrug* I don't mind. It's the truth for me. =P But seeing how I'm already accepted and attending school, it doesn't really matter now does it =)

The way the person asked the question was unprofessional and immature, so what do you expect us to say?

Also, people put too much faith in stats. Look at the average scores of those getting in (these are typically found at pharmacy school websites). Since those numbers are averages, that means that people are getting in with scores across a wide range, low and high.

Who do you think is more likely to get in - a 3.3/75% with 3 years experience as a pharm tech or a 4.0/99 who couldn't be bothered to get any pharmacy experience?

You have to keep in mind that even though SDN is a big and informative forum, it still only represents a very small minority of all people applying to and getting accepted at pharmacy schools. When the Roll Call thread is full, the schools with the largest numbers of respondents in here might have 20-25 names, but these schools are actually accepting over 100 students.

The "stats" from pharmacy applicants who managed to find this forum mean nothing without the stats of the rest of those 100 students accepted to any given school.

Aman! Its none-yo-business!!! Unless they want to share, then, okay, whatever

I just came up with an idea!

What if EVERYBODY,just puts thier stats in thier tag line, that way nobody has to ask anymore. 😍

or just the ones that get tired of posting it all the time.

i understand if people do not post their stats...although its a little annoying when someone posts something like

"OMG I GOT AN INTERVIEW!!! KTHANXBYE!!!"

that isnt informative to anyone. more information would be helpful, such as, when was the application submitted; how was the person contacted; when is the interview date. anyway, just my opinion.

maybe people don't check the thread again.

The "OMG I GOT ACCEPTED!!!! KTHANXBYE!!!" is also useless. I can't believe that people create an account just for the sake of making that one post.

Maybe they don't see that you've asked... Unless I get a PM, I might not respond to a question in a thread because I don't read every thread every day.

What are your stats pharmy614?

Before you get mad at people, consider one obvious reason: maybe they never came back to the thread after their 1st post (which I do countless times) so they dont even know you asked.
Another reason may be that their stat is not that high. They are afraid that people will look down on them. You may ask "Who cares? Nobody knows who you are". However, keep in mind that some people care about their online identity as much as their real life.

stats... haha... makes me feel like a trading card. btw, i'm new 😛

Why don't people drop and do 20 push ups when you ask them to?

 My thoughts exactly.

Everyone has their reasons for not wanting to post their stats. Me, I have posted mine before so if someone is really interested in knowing, all they have to do is look it up. Besides, schools post their own stats, why bother asking for the stats of a very, VERY small minority of pre-pharms that are most likely not even close to representative of the school you'll be applying to?

That being said, when I was a newbie, I asked the typical what are my chances of getting in question and what are your stats question. Learnt pretty quick that some people readily give out their stats, while others you would have more chance of extracting teeth from a chicken. Now I don't care though. Stats don't mean **** really... I mean lots of people have at least a 3.5 gpa and an 85+ pcat. Schools see thousands of applicants with these stats. It's all the other stuff that makes you stand out that REALLY matters. Besides, heaps get in with much less stellar stats, so getting in really depends on other things besides gpa and pcat.

A polite way of resolving the issue would be to respond saying "sorry, I don't wish to post my stats, thanks" instead of just ignoring the request.

uhhhhmmmm, maybe because their stats are none of your f***** business?

Just do a search around the forums. People who don't mind posting their stats (if they are from a previous cycle) will have posted their stats somewhere.

Just try to get the best GPA and PCAT scores, get some pharmacy experience, and have a some ECs and you'll be fine.
