Will 1-2 C's kill my chances of acceptance? I am applying to UIC, SIUe, Midwestern, and LECOM. What do you think? The rest of my grades are mostly As and a couple Bs.

Look at your overall GPA. 1 or 2 Cs shouldn't make a big difference. Plenty of people with Cs get accepted.

i sure hope not because i have a lot more than 2 Cs

i actually have a few Cs (in my science classes!)..but still received interview invites from 3 schools so far. Here's hoping for more 😀 Don't lose hope...a few C's shouldn't affect your overall GPA by much.

It depends on a few things.

1. Your overall GPA Mine is 3.57 and I've had 1 D (2 if you figure I repeated
and got the same grade), 2 C's, 1 C+
2. What the C's are in. I got a D in Intro to Visual Art, I doubt they care.
3. What did you write in the section where they asked you to explain any
discrepancies/shortfalls in your academic career/background/transcripts.
If it is explainable, e.g. My daughter was born a week before I started
Physical Chemistry, Got a C (and no sleep) then you should be ok.

Hope this helps.:luck:

Im pretty sure Im getting a C in organic chemistry 1, unless a miracle happens and I get a high B or an A on the final exam. I also have a C in physics. Ive never had anything below a B, mostly A's, my gpa is almost a 3.7 (prior to this semester). Also, maybe they will keep in mind, this semester was pretty hard for me, I took Physics 1 (C), organic chem 1(C?), Anatomy and physiology 2(B), and Trig (A). PLUS I work 20-25 hours per week as a pharmacy technician.

You should be fine just try to do better in O-Chem 2...I got in with a C in Physics I and O-Chem I so I wouldn't worry, as long as you have a trend of academic improvement from then on...

Even for applying for this coming admission class Fall of 2007? I hope they don't look at me and say "SLACKER" because I can see it now......🙁

it shouldnt kill ur chances...i have 3 C's (one in my 3rd quarter of ochem...the other 2 in bio classes) and 7 interviews and got into 1 school so far.

No my C's were a few yrs ago, you may not get in this year but just keep working towards your degree and you will be fine, a few C's will not hurt...Remember C's are average...show that your above average in other courses (Physiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Calc, etc...). I think CCP values a trend of academic improvement in my point of view, so take advanced level courses and do better in them! Overall, just be a well rounded applicant and you will be fine!!!

from which university in cali did you get the Cs in???

I got 1 D and 3 C's in my science courses and my counselor said "change your major now!"

I secretly wanted to tell him to go to hell because he didn't know my story behind the D and C's. But now I'm afraid the admission committee will feel the same way without giving me any slack. I gave my essay to this english teacher and she said it sounds like "a crybaby kind of essay" when I was explaining my pass dilemmas.

I don't know what to do! I guess I will have to waste another year repeating those courses.

This person calls themselves an Academic Counselor?? Some encouragement huh?

All I can say is not to let people and comments like that get you down. If anything, you should take those comments as encouragement and show them that you can and will do what you put your mind to. Best of luck!!!

P.S. 3.38 isn't bad, I know people who are in pharmacy school or who have graduated from pharmacy school who had lower than a 3.38 when they applied.
