You do realize that Trump grouped Cortez, Omar, and Tlaib together because pelosi is trying to marginalize their caucus? Trump is playing a political game, forcing pelosi to defend Cortez, Omar, and Tlaib when she was just trying to get rid of them.

It's a brilliant political move.
Yes, the man is a genius among *****s.

So Donald Trump tells American Congress people to go back to their countries and @Mikkel response is “Omar wasn’t born here and the rest are anti-American and anti-semites”. Not in any of your replies did you acknowledge any wrong doing by Trump.

Can I please ask @Mikkel , do you find anything wrong with DT’s twitter post?

We're a nation of immigrants.

I'm an immigrant. I'm sure you also come from immigrant families unless you're native American.

My family came here to escape Nazism.

I am staying here because it's the best country on Earth.

If people hate this country and the American people so much, they should leave. Lots of people renounce their citizenship and go abroad.

From Daily Wire:
The Palestinians allied with Hitler. The leader of the Palestinian Arab nationalist movement, Haj Amin al-Husseini, allied with Hitler. He was living in Germany in Berlin from 1941 to 1945. He not only allied with Hitler, he called for the massacre of Jews in the Arab world. He did it on Nazi radio stations all throughout Berlin. He called specifically for an anti-Jewish jihad. He then aided the Nazis because he was friends with Hitler. He aided the Nazis in recruiting Muslims from the Balkans for the SS and for the Wehrmacht.

The Palestinian Arabs launched a revolt between 1936 and 1939 to deter European Jews from coming into the region of Palestine. When we use the word Palestine, we have to be clear we're not referring to a country called Palestine. There has never been a nation state called Palestine. That nation state might as well exist between Narnia and Wakanda. It is completely imaginary, completely fictitious. There is a region that was named by the Romans, Palestine. So, when we refer it historically to Palestine we're referring to a region named by the Romans, well after the nation of Israel inhabited that land. And then when the British took over the area there was the mandate of Palestine. It's referred to British Palestine or Mandatory Palestine, so that's a region, not a nation state.

The Arabs who were living in British Mandatory Palestine launched a revolt to stop Jews from coming into the area, and eventually they petitioned the British to stop the refugee Jews almost altogether from entering the region.

Yes, I'm sure ultraconservative ***** Ben Shapiro's virulently pro-Israel website is a great place to get an unbiased take about Palestine and Israel.

The point remains, Palestinians were already inhabiting whatever you want to call that area and were forcibly displaced. Israel has held and expanded their territory with impunity. Criticism of Israel and their policies is not synonymous with anti-semitism no matter how much Hannity tells you it is.

And before you lead us off on any more tangents, let's get back to what we were talking about: every so-called racist statement you claim the new congresswomen have made has been totally taken out of context, and the full reading or video of their comments shows that. Ultimately, you defend a president (and party) who demonize muslims and latinos and who celebrate white nationalists and confederates. Trump is the guy who defended his family's racial housing bias in the 70s, he took out a full page ad wrongly calling for the punishment of the Central Park 5 in 80s, and this decade he propagated Birtherism on the first black president and more recently called the people coming from Mexico looking for a better life "drug dealers, criminals, and rapists." There's about 600 other instances too if one is interested in the full history (An Oral History of Trump’s Bigotry).

Point being, give us a break with your crocodile tears about who in Congress you think is being intolerant.

It was a yes or no question, not a “tell me your sad life story” one.

Do you find anything wrong with DT’s twitter post telling the Congress people to go back to their countries?

You're glossing over the facts that Palestinians actively abetted Hitler and his efforts to exterminate the Jewish people to give Tlaib an excuse for her blatant ahistorical account of Israel-Palestine relations?

The fact that she says the Palestinians were the victims when in reality they contributed to the deaths of Jews is evidence of anti-Semitism.

"Actively abetted"? Are you shtting me? You first name one despicable guy, al-Husseini, who was head of the Arab Committee in Mandatory Palestine, who was exiled from Palestine in 1938 and banned from participating in further talks, and he subsequently went by himself on a Nazi tour, and now it's turned into all "Palestinians actively abetted Hitler." There's really not much nuance with you, is there?

There are/were extremists on both sides of the Israel / Palestine debate, but ultimately Palestinians were also victims of a forced annexation and have a right to defend their land and people as much as anyone else. After all, it's not like the Western countries who divided up the Middle East decided to bear the burden of the Jewish diaspora.

Take a look at this:

bQZ9h9P.png

This is a picture of the "Pro American Rally" held by the German bund in 1939. "Six and a half months before Adolf Hitler invaded Poland, New York City’s Madison Square Garden hosted a rally to celebrate the rise of Nazism in Germany. Inside, more than 20,000 attendees raised Nazi salutes toward a 30-foot-tall portrait of George Washington flanked by swastikas. "

With this picture in mind, should we go about saying that Americans "actively abetted Hitler and his efforts to exterminate the Jewish people"

Maybe he was telling them to go back to NYC, Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis? Certainly crime-ridden and plenty of poverty to fix there...
Read all 3 tweets. Then you'll see he was speaking about the countries they "originally came from".

He grouped them together because they are brown and outspoken and they stand up to him.

They also are universally *****y Reps. Frankly, their behavior and attitudes toward this country make them entirely undeserving of living here.

LOL @ the mental gymnastics that Trump supporters will go through to convince themselves that he isn't a racist POS.

Taken from Reddit:

"If there are Trump supporters that deny Trump is racist and ask for evidence, you can give them this list:
  1. Trump questioned whether Judge Curiel could be impartial because of Judge Curiel's Mexican heritage. This lead to Paul Ryan, the Republican Speaker of the House at the time, calling Trump's remarks about Judge Curiel as "textbook definition of a racist comment":
Claiming a person can't do their job because of their race is sort of like the textbook definition of a racist comment
2. During a meeting with Congressmen, Trump wondered why immigrants to the US couldn't come from countries like Norway instead of "****hole" African countries, and other "****hole" countries like El Salvador and Haiti
3. The Central Park Five, who were all African American, were cleared of their charges. But despite being cleared of their charges, Trump continued to insist they were guilty.
4. For the longest time, Trump continued to ask for Obama's birth certificate, questioning whether Obama was American and insinuating that Obama was born in Kenya, presumably because Obama is black. It is well known that Obama was born in Hawaii. Obama eventually released his birth certificate in 2011 to put an end to this conspiracy theory by Trump. Despite Obama releasing his birth certificate, Trump would deliberately continue with this conspiracy theory against Obama for another 5 years until the 2016 election when the media put enough pressure on Trump to admit Obama was born in the USA.
5. "In 1973, Richard Nixon’s Department of Justice sued the Trump family business for refusing to rent or negotiate rentals 'because of race and color'."
6. Trump defended the Neo-Nazis at the Charlottesville by claiming there were "very fine people on both sides." And this came after footage of the Neo-Nazis in Charlottesville chanting Nazi slogans such as "blood and soil" while holding Tiki torches the night before the protest.
7. And of course, Trump's tweets asking a group of 4 Congresswomen to go back to their "country" even though 3 of them were born in the USA. Trump likely made the tweet because all 4 Congresswomen were not Caucasian."

Politics and policies aside, the guy is a racist POS. The sad thing is his supporters will still go to the ends of the earth to defend everything ****ty thing he does to make themselves feel better about voting for him. I would have a little more respect for you all if you at least admit he is a racist but you just believe in his foreign/economic policies. At least then we know that you are being a little reflective and not just believing what Fox News is telling you to believe.

The actual purpose of the United Nations is to avoid another World War, and possibly other wars. It's a utopian organization (I just love when a bunch of insignificant countries get some pompous statement passed), but anything is better than nothing.

Regarding the UDHR, you may have missed this important part in article 29:
"(1) Everyone has duties to the community in which alone the free and full development of his personality is possible."

For example, the duty to respect the law, to not immigrate and work illegally, unless one really has no choice (true refugee, and not for economic reasons).

In every country, a lawbreaker has a completely different set of rights than a law-abiding person. Unless one is a bleeding-heart liberal, one will not worry that much about the healthcare of illegal immigrants (again, I am not talking about true non-economic refugees), especially not when the law-abiding citizen still lacks it. So the Democratic candidates are completely out of tune with most of the American citizenry (except for idealistic inexperienced young people), and are on the way to losing this election to their own stupidity.

Instead of finding a more center-left leaning Trump-like populist attack dog, a Boris Johnson of their own, they are coming up with all these amateurs who just can't compete in today's social media-infested reality.
I agree with this

Let's see Bernie is a communist, Joe can't complete a simple sentence, Pocahontas lied about her heritage to get accepted into school, and Pete has a husband. That makes the Donald unbeatable.

I'm not an immigrant nor was my family.

I'll allow this rationalization based on the fact that Trump isn't a orator of words and wasn't smart enough to insert "communities" or "districts" into his tweet.

Trump has racist tendencies, period. He should not have made those remarks (or others in the past).

Omar, Tlaib, AOC should be able to speak their mind as Americans, no doubt. However, they have their own anti-Semitic tendencies as well.

Don’t like either of them (Trump or fringe liberal dems). I would think more highly of either side if they stopped race-baiting, making anti-Jew or anti-black or anti-whatever comments, or stopped identity politics altogether and stuck to policy.

That being said, just because someone has racist tendencies doesn’t mean intelligent people won’t still vote for them if the other side is worse (in their statements or even more important in their policies).

This is a funny list.

1. This is the argument against Trump? At a time when the entire Left discounts the opinions of anyone who isn't a "POC" (preferably lesbian woman of color)? HA.

2. Look at any data available and tell me with a straight face that, compared with Norway, those countries aren't, well, ****holes (not my kind of phrasing, but whatever).

3. July 25, 2018 - CENTRAL PARK RAPISTS: TRUMP WAS RIGHT

4. Meh. You can call this racist, but Obama's policies were polarizing enough to make people signal their disapprobation strongly (and sometimes stupidly).

5. 1973 was a long, long time ago. Kinda past the moral statute of limitations for that.

6. Lie. He defended the people who were there to oppose the removal of the status. And yeah, there were (and are) fine people on both sides of that debate.

7. Weak. Not exactly super-sensitive as 2019 standards go, but if this is as bad as it gets with him, you'll need to do better with your attacks.

I love it when political debates devolve into “you’re racist!” debates..

I’m just a guy who’d prefer not to be “obligated” to pay for the healthcare of millions of folks, when we’re already paying for millions of folks that could provide “cheap labor”.

How “cheap” is it to pay someone to do a job, pay for their healthcare, pay for the education/healthcare of their children (illegal immigrant), while at the SAME TIME we’re paying for the same benefits for some one and their family (American citizen, regardless of color) to sit around and do NOTHING because manual labor “doesn’t pay enough”??

We’ve got a couple of generations of citizens with NO work ethic, because “cheap” illegal immigrant labor has driven the wage rate down so low, that it makes more sense to live off government bennies, doing nothing, then to work in order to MAYBE come out 10-20% ahead.

We have created a “work is for suckers” environment due to the continuous influx of “cheap labor”, and the taxpayers are paying TWICE for it (benefits for one to do the work cheaply, and one who WON’T do it cheaply), and killing many folks’ work ethic in the process (which they pass to their children) in the process.

Hit the nail on it’s head.

Why has disability benefits risen thousands, literally of percent over the last few decades?

We can’t change this overnight but the dems don’t understand that we can’t have open borders. If they were advocating a reasonable path to citizenship (military service, back taxes etc) coupled with draconian border enforcement maybe I could get on board. If not - Donald may be a d-bag but it’s really his way or the open borders party- not difficult to make a choice.

I think it’s the poor work ethic of the US citizens that the cause of the problem. Remember a lot of the illegal immigrants work for cash (unreported). So it’s not like US citizens will lose the benefits if they did the same work. Yet somehow it’s the south and central american immigrants who keep showing up for work, not the welfare folks.....

Most dems aren’t advocating open borders. In fact most are fine with increased border security, but are also for treating “illegals” and asylum seekers with basic human decency

Whether trump is racist or not (hint: he is) what I can’t wrap my head around is that this guy is a god like figure to the white supremacists, neo nazis et al. Who sees that and is like, yeah, that’s the side I want to be on.

Even though my very feminist wife would hate me for saying this, but this is the reason why Joe Biden is the best Democrat candidate. I vote Democrat and in my book he's the most reasonable candidate because I truly think he has the interest of ALL Americans at heart. Yes, he has flaws, but what candidate doesn't? As a Democrat, I don't like the fact that people like AOC have essentially become the face of the party because in reality she's just using the Trump playbook for he agenda, ie, say whatever the hell I want because I know I'll win my district. Joe Biden is a reasonable leader who would do our country a lot of good and quite honestly bring some dignity back to the office. Also, I'm not one of those people who only votes for Democrats. I would've had no problem voting Kasich over Clinton because I thought he too was a reasonable person with reasonable politics. For some reason, after having 8 years of a sane, intelligent president, the US, even if not the majority, decided to go with crazy.

At this point this country needs someone that you can either 100% get behind or even "sort of" get behind because we are becoming more and more divided as the extremes of each side start to have a louder and louder voice. What we need more of is a bit of reason and sanity back in Washington and to quote 45, "on both sides".

I agree we are becoming more divided. As for the sanity in Washington piece, in theory that sounds great but I fear too sane means going with the flow and not getting much changed. We need a cowboy who is sane. Cowboy and Sane. Who is that person?

I'm pretty sure his love affair with Israel and the Jewish people does NOT make him a God-like figure to the nazis. Jussayin.

Despite any disagreements I can say you are a very reasonable man Twiggidy.

I would vote for Biden in a heartbeat (or Kacich, or Hickenlooper) over Trump.

But at the same time -based on my own evaluations of the people and policies -right now I would vote for Trump over Sanders or Warren. Doesn’t make me a racist.

I was neutral on Kamala Harris until she started the race-baiting with Biden just to score some “base points.” Disgusting.

The story is a bit more nuanced, but to realize that would require you peeling your eyes away from fox news for more than 5 seconds

------
The supposedly controversial comments came in a speech Omar gave at a banquet for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Muslim civil rights organization, in late March. In footage of the address uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday, Omar discusses the need for organizations like CAIR to ensure that Muslims writ large aren’t punished for the actions of a handful of extremists on 9/11.

“Far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen, and frankly, I’m tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it,” Omar said at the event. “CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.”

Sounds harmless, right? But if stripped out of the context, Omar’s phrase “some people did something” can be spun as minimizing the significance of 9/11 for both the victims and the country writ large. This is not remotely accurate if you watch the full video, which I encourage you to do as a counterpoint to the out-of-context attacks. At the end, for example, she speaks movingly about how America’s national values motivated her family to immigrate to the United States.

“As an American member of Congress, I have to make sure I live up to the ideals of fighting for liberty and justice — those are very much rooted in the reason why my family came here,” she says.

Not exactly what an anti-American ideologue would say. But the full context hasn’t stopped Republicans from using the out-of-context version to bash Omar.
-------------
You really don't want to hear the part about how America betrayed Omar and her childhood dreams (and her father's promises). As if America owed her anything more than saving her from Africa. She simply doesn't get that, when you immigrate to a country, you don't try to change the country, you change yourself and integrate. Or, if you don't like it, you go back, as Trump said.

I get it when people vote for Trump, for various calculated reasons (e.g. a much worse alternative). But liking Trump, supporting Trump, defending Trump... that goes to character.

You don't present any rational arguments. Just tired old sarcasm. Doesn't work as well as it did a few years ago.

Dude, you're a sociopath, esp in regard to 1973 apparently being too long ago for one to have had morals

You guys have been selling the same product for four years. It was terrible then, and it's terrible now. There's plenty on which to criticize Trump, but left-wingers continue to level the dumbest and least-valid arguments. It's pathetic. Apparently, Republicans' stupidity has rubbed off on the other side.

I actually agree!!!
When you immigrate to a country your first goal should be to assimilate and blend in.
But... as an immigrant you probably understand that it's very hurtful when someone tells you that you are less of a human being and you have less rights because you got here later than me in a country composed of immigrants.

They aren’t asylum seekers. They are economic immigrants trying to abuse the asylum system. If you are leaving Honduras seeking asylum there are at least 8 countries closer to you, some of which you have to pass through on your way to the US. They come to the US for a job, not for asylum. “I live in a country that sucks” is not a justification for asylum.

I don’t think there should be a path to citizenship for people living here illegally. I think they should be unable to find work, should leave as a result, and should not be able to apply for reentry.

Some level of immigration may be beneficial. If so, we should give work permits in whatever way benefits THIS country and it’s citizens. We should give those work permits to people who apply to legally enter the country.

I’m not sure I understand, why can’t immigrants advocate for changes? If she wants to advocate for Medicare for all or higher minimum wage, that sounds reasonable. Even if she was advocating against gay marriage or is pro-life, she can have that opinion. She’s been here since childhood, America is basically all she knows and remembers. If she’s advocating to become the next Somalia then that is different.

What role exactly do you feel immigrants or their children can play in politics?

?

I'm not an immigrant. Are you?

And because they are the most equality-obsessed and anti-elitist nation I know. They would rather have nothing than a two-tiered wonder. I don't know whether this is not envy, given the continuous obsession with taxing the rich and "fair share".
I don’t understand why we don’t just have a flat rate tax system. For everyone. This would mean that everyone, no matter how rich or poor would contribute equally depending on their income level. And then we can talk about equal access to basic healthcare without the rich complaining that they are subsidizing the “lazy” poor people and the poor people would contribute as well without just taking taking taking. You can’t take forever. Eventually you have to contribute.

I was poor once when I was a kid. We got handouts. But we had insurance thru my dads janitor job and when he finished school we got off the handouts.
That’s one thing I agree with about the republicans. There needs to be a limit to free stuff. A time limit. In order to motivate people.

As far as the illegal immigrants, most of the ones who I knew growing up worked with fake or stolen SSN. Meaning they were contributing taxes that they coukd never use, besides going to the ER for emergencies. The field workers, the nannies... those are the ones making money under the table without paying taxes.

I get it when people vote for Trump, for various calculated reasons (e.g. a much worse alternative). But liking Trump, supporting Trump, defending Trump... that goes to character.

This is what I think the Democratic Party for some crazy reason just can’t comprehend.

They are fixated on that 10-15% of the country that really is bigoted, ***loves**** Trump and really will vote for him no matter what.

They are ignoring the other 40% of the country that doesn’t particularly like the man (May even agree he is a racist and certainly a narcissist) but WILL end up electing him if the other side keeps advocating for sheer craziness!

Another thing we agree on. Try suggesting that to the AOC wing of the Democratic Party and you’d be called crazy.

Democratic formula over the last 50 years: 1. We will tax the “ultra-rich” 2. End up taxing the top 10% (and exclude the 0.1%) all of whom already pay far more % of their income than the rest of the country.

The only ones evading taxes and paying super low percentages now are those in the bottom 30% and those in the top 0.1%. But majority of taxes are paid by those in the middle of these extremes so that’s where the revenue is.
