Hi all.

So I'm a current junior taking Physics I as per the traditional route. We had our first exam and while I didn't score much below the average score, I didn't do great either. In fact, I was a few points off from being in what the professor claimed would be an area of concern. The material only gets harder from here on, so I'm worried about my future grades. I honestly studied very hard for this exam, more so than anyone I know, and I still didn't do as well as I'd hoped.

I learned that there's going to be another Physics I next semester that is supposed to be much more straight forward (due to it being taught by a different professor), and that many students did much better on last year. I'm thinking of withdrawing from this semester's course and signing up for the one next semester. I'm just worried how a W on a pre-req would look, and if it would be suspicious that I retook the class next semester. This would be my first and presumably last withdrawal though.

As a side note, my GPA is not the strongest right now and I really need to raise it. I'm currently barely scraping by with an 3.6 and my sGPA is below a 3.5, so I really need to get more As in science classes. This is the main reason why I'm debating withdrawing and not just keeping at it with physics.

IMO thats fine. You may have to explain it on your apps, but you just say "I realized my schedule was overloaded with _____ work/EC activity so decided to take the class next semester when my other activities were in order"

Follow up on the above

Good time management generally looks way better than trying to be a hero and manage a giant class/EC load
