I had one of my recommendations done online for pharmcas by someone I known. He said he submitted it a long time ago, but I checked the status on it, and it says Pending. Could he have been mistaken? Does it really take pharmcas that long to handle online recommendations?

I also had another recommendation sent by mail, and pharmcas says it hasnt recieved it yet. Now, I understand there can be big delays when a deadline is approaching for mailed recommendations. But is there any way to email pharmcas and find out if they got it or not? Would they bother to go check through their big mail pile for me? My fear is that this one could get lost in the mail, since this was sent by traditional US mail method.

for me, pharmcas updated like that very day after my LOR's e-submitted, so I don't understand what's up with the 'pending' status you have. You might want to email them. When I do, they usually get back to me within the same day or next. As for your mail-in LOR, it takes pharmcas awhile to process them. There's a page on their website that tells you how long it takes, i believe it's two weeks. Then again, you can ask them on your email.

Hope it helps.

For the online recommendations, the status says "pending" until the person recommending you actually logs in to PharmCAS and starts the recommendation. Once they start filling out the reference form and before they actually finish/submit it, the status says "incomplete." Then, as far as I know, as soon as they click on submit, the status should change immediately to "received." So, if your status is pending for that particular recommendation that he said he submitted, I'd be inclined to think that something went wrong. As far as the ones that get sent by mail, I don't know much about those but I would assume they take awhile to get processed.
