i'm taking ALL of my science classes in about 1.5 years (this includes summers and intercessions).

here's what i plan on taking before i apply:
bio1, bio11, chem1, chem11, physics1, physics11 + all labs
organic1, organic11, + labs
biochemistry1 + lab
physiology, genetics, microbiology

it seems like a lot but after projecting exactly what each future semester will look like and seeing which classes are offered when, everything kind of fits in nicely so that i will be able to finish everything by my application summer.

i don't really have room to add anything in before that application summer, but would you guys recommend me taking anything during the gap year?

also will any classes taken during the Fall after submitting app (say i apply in May 2011, so i'm referring to aug-dec 2011) count towards an admissions decision (assuming i do well)?

Seems like a heavy 1.5 years 🙂
During gap year, you can try immunology, pharmacology, cell biology, maybe biochemistry II, obviously you don't "need" these.

Are you going to do shadowing / volunteering during this pillage 1.5 years?

yes i will be shadowing and hope to get in 100+ hrs with different specialties.

so if i took 2-3 of the suggested courses above, would this factor into any schools' decision (seeing as most schools give out interviews by dec1?)

well yeh, when you apply, there is a section in the application process that asks you if your going to take more courses, and gives you a box to type in which courses you'd be taking.

I enjoyed my pathophysiology course. I don't know how much it will help in dental school but I learned stuff in that class to help me in my immunology class I am currently taking.

If you're on the fence at a school, the decision to accept, deny, or put you on/remove you from a waitlist may come down to how well you do in that Fall semester, so I would totally recommend that you take some classes then. Anatomy & histology are some ideas. Good luck!!

I highly recommend Histology.
