She said that they usually meet the third thursday of every month! Good luck everyone! 🙂

Thanks a ton! That would mean they meet next Thurs the 15th! Yikes!!! To many "!'s" !!!!

I'll email my advisor and find out 🙂

yes, you are my sunshine on this God forsaken thread. Many thanks, and yes, I, too, am very sorry about that PB incident....just shouldn't happen to such a nice person.

We're still in this boat together?! Dang kid...I think we're sinkin'!🙁
Do you know the date of the March meeting? I think it was WCGee (sorry, I may have botched that name) who had an advisor on AdCom...I keep hoping they'll throw their two cents in about the meeting date...

Hey BeanerMD,

Yep, I guess we're both still in the UIC waiting game! I called the admissions office last Thursday and the receptionist told me that they are having two more adcomm meetings in March and April. Hopefully we will hear something after the March meeting 😀

:luck: mdapp06

Yup, that's the same blah news I heard, too. I will for sure be calling tomorrow to reavow my interest in the school- especially considering the AdCom is likely meeting next 03/15. Yikes~!

This may have been a little optimistic, the 3rd Thurs of the month in Feb was also the 15th but they didn't meet until the 22nd. I think we may be looking at the 22nd as well for March.🙄

Okay, I just checked my status page tonight and it has switched from "applicant in process" to the page that has a schedule of available interview dates. Does this mean that I can call them in the morning and schedule the interview even though I haven't gotten anything in the mail? Thanks a bunch.

Yes... btw, are there second looks for the other campuses? J/W.

Alright kids, fess up, who called and did a status check today- cuz you know I already did😉

Actually, I received the most positive feedback on my checkup today yet! I was told that although no final decision has been made, my file has gone before the committee before, and hopefully it'll go to committee again soon (and I should have a final decision soon!). Well, that's something, isn't it?

Who else, who else?!

I just called and was told my application was being reviewed as we spoke. I should hear back in a couple weeks; hopefully good news!

Is this pre or post interview?

I know that the website is down for routine maintenance on T/R from 5-8 the next day, but mine is still down. Anyone else able to actually login?

back up and running, and yes, false hopes elevated of a status change crushed.....they're probably working on changing their time clocks for an early daylight savings time

Has anyone received a campus selection from this past (02/28) round of acceptances? If so, when did you mail in your card?

Good luck to all those still waiting....

I haven't heard yet either---I'm also anxiously waiting!

I'll let you know if I get anything.

i got my campus selection card with my acceptance letter, and i mailed it back just a few days later. though i guess it's a little different for me b/c i was accepted to the urbana md/phd program, so it doesn't really matter which campus i put down.

also, just FYI for those who were wondering...Chicago wasn't even an option on that card (i.e. class is full in Chicago).

It seemed like Chicago was alot of the reason many people were even considering the school. With the campus no longer being an option do you think alot of people with other acceptances would tend to decline/withdraw acceptance? Just curious what people are thinking on this topic

At this point in the game, I think it's a lot of us who would just be thrilled and grateful to be accepted no matter what campus we got placed at (don't burn me here- I realize that people in October were likely also thrilled, I'm just pointing to those of us who have that utter fear of rejection looming and would be grateful for any opportunity on any campus).

I do know that people can write a letter of appeal to try and change their campus location....and since I own a house, help take care of my elderly grandparents, and getting placed in Urbana/Rockford/Peoria would require a move and burden on my family, I will likely be writing such a letter if lucky enough to be accepted at UofI.

it is a good point, for sure. one thing to consider, though, is that some of the people holding spots in chicago may give up their spot between now and may 15 for another school (more prestigious or scholarship-giving or otherwise school of choice). so while the class may be full there for now, there still may be room for movement among alternate lists.

Interesting. It was an option on mine. On the left side, you indicated I or II for the Chicago or U/P/R option, then 1 or 2 or 3 to rank the U/P/R campuses.

Dunno. Maybe they send out a different card for MSTP types?

hmm, maybe.

i am also still waiting on a decision from the chicago campus MD/PhD program.

anyone find out yet whether we are being reviewed this thurs or next thurs?

I have no inside information, we were told around the 3rd week of Mar at our interview, but judging from their recent history it seems like they will meet next week. Either way I am SUPER anxious about it, UIC is my top choice I just want to tell me they want me too!

yes! i interviewed exactly the day of their last meeting. my interview was actually interrupted by the meeting, haha. so i knew i'd be waiting a whole month...i would be going nuts if i wasn't so busy 😀

i've been complete since 9/14. Just reject me already.

wtf uic

So ironically enough I just got an interview invite. Thanks uic! lol
(i feel bad now)

I will be interviewing at the Rockford campus on March 21, one day before the "next adcom meeting" (bc who really knows when it will be). I wonder just how lucky I am and if I will get reviewed....... the next day!

To everyone else good luck.

to the people holding spots, move it or lose it.

Do you know what this "alternate list" is? I just found out I've received the Rockford campus (my third choice, actually). Is there something we have to do to be considered for Chicago spots as they open, or are they offered first come, first serve automatically?

Sorry to hear you didn't get the campus you wanted. How did you hear that you got Rockford?

I just got my site preference response and ended up with Rockford. Bummer. I definitely won't attend U of I unless they'd consider an appeal because I have family nearby in Chicago. Anyone know what types of reasons they will/won't accept??

I'd rather spend the extra money and go to Loyola at this point than be stuck in Champaign then Rockford. Good luck to all.

Question

So in terms of the 4 campuses UIC has, I am under the impression that these 4 locations are for our 2 years of didactics.
Then, years 3/4 during our rotations we do them in chicago. Regardless of where our campus is. I have a feeling i'm wrong... ?

Actually, the first year for all non-Chicago students is in Urbana-Champaign. Then, non U-C students head to Rockford or Peoria to finish MS2.

After that, I presume you can do rotations in Chicago, but I didn't think that we would be there full time. I'll call and ask.

I asked Chicago as my first choice and Urbana-Champaign for my second, both to avoid a post-MS1 move. If all rotations are in Chicago (which I didn't think was the case), that means three moves in four years? I'm wondering how realistic this will be for those of us with spouse's who have careers...

sorry you didn't get your campus of choice, notdeadyet.

i read something last year about alternate lists, and there's a user on here (can't remember his name right now) who was originally assigned to U-C but ended up getting into Chicago at a later date. I'll see if I can find out who he is.

i think that mostly only MD/PhD and MD/JD students in the med scholars program do Urbana-Champaign all 4 years. When I interviewed there, they told me the M2-M4 class size is roughly 25-30, mostly all MD/PhD students. So I guess they offer an all U-C option, but most U/P/R people end up at Peoria or Rockford for M2-M4. please correct me if i'm wrong, peeps.

You're right. I believe someone got a Chicago spot as late as July.

Hope is not over if you didn't get the campus you want folks. Though my understanding is that the bulk of the transfers between campuses happens post-May 15th.

You're right, PB&J. The materials made it pretty clear that a plain old MD candidate had a slim shot of getting placed there. I knew it was a longshot, but hey, so was medical school.

FYI- I interviewed the day before the Adcom met in December, and I wasn't reviewed for the first time until January....but who knows, maybe they'll be pushing things along faster now that we're nearing the end of the cycle and they're under a time crunch, too!:luck: 👍

I'm in Champaign right now, and I've had MD/JD and MD/PhD TA's who told me this is true.

Got my preference card..... was assigned Peoria. I'm pretty disappointed! 🙁 I guess Chicago is full now.

I got my invite like a week ago or so, so there's hope.

I also applied on the deadline so they're getting close to being done.

I'm not expecting to see status page changes today but in case they did meet yesterday and someone sees a change be sure to post. Good Luck everyone, at the worst they should be meeting this Thurs.

Interviewed late January.
Evaluated during the 2/22 ADCOM.
Status page changed 2/26.
Received my packet 3/2.
Received site confirmation 3/16.

I was relegated to the UPR track and Peoria. I had a stated interest in urban medicine.

I love how the letterhead still says UIC *sigh*

Just for people wondering. I interviewed last Friday and was told they'd be meeting Thursday, March 22 to review applications. They sounded pretty caught up and should get through most of the applications by then. So, expect to hear something next week. Best of luck to you all 🙂

did Dr. Girotti mention anything to you guys about not offering too many acceptances right away cause they offered so many in january? i was wondering if they have already re-adjusted by offering less in the february round

Not that I can remember exactly. He said they've already accepted more people than they plan to have matriculate next year, but don't worry because they still plan to offer more acceptances.

anyone else getting a little :scared: about tomorrow? It's the last Adcom decision before, dun dun dun, the FINAL DECISION. A little dramatic, yes, but isn't that fitting for this process?

I would classify myself as extremely :scared: !

At my peoria interview (3/20) I was told that they are at between 60 and 70% of their class size at this stage in the interview process. There are still significant opportunities at their Peoria, U-c, and Rockford campuses.

Thye will interview all the way until May! the dean was talking about how the late interviewees in May get to see the campu sin full spring bloom. this year they have had 6100 applicants (compared to 4300 last year) and they will recruit about 300 from that pool.

Just some random info i remember from my visit. 👍
