Damn those facts and figures. aRRghhhhhh......

compared to an m.d. surgeon with similar ed reqs, it isn't all that great.....but having a sub 22 mcat prolly makes it look balls-out awesome..

aren't feet technically cleaner than hands? just shove a mint up your nose ;)

Yo whats wrong with this kid? Why is he advertising his career? If I knew a professon made way more money than another, I wouldn't be spreading the word. Especially not on a forum. This kid...

Oh snap...OP got owned!

I've heard that it is actully pretty difficult to pin down how much Pods make. I forgot where I read that though. Somthing about the salary range being VERY broad. Anyone else hear this?

I use to work for a podiatrist. It's a very cool profession. You get to see and work on a huge variety of different conditions everyday, from broken bones, to ingrown toe nails to skin conditions. Very interesting field. The majority of patients are geriatric with diabetic circulation problems, old women who love high heels and have bunion problems and athletes with foot injuries. With an extra year of college you can do surgeries which is really awesome.

The only downside to podiatry is kinda like dentistry where you most likely will have to open up your own practice. In my opinion, that's a huge headache. You need to hire a receptionist, medical assistants, get your own X-ray machine, hire someone to do billing, pay to have medical waste picked up, etc etc. Basically, you have a tremendous amount of additional work responsibilities. Me...I'd rather become a doctor or pharmacist and work at a hospital/clinic and have all that "headache" stuff taken care of.
