Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Good luck!

We have immuno/microbio starting when we get back from break though. I'm looking forward to popping open my Clinical Mico Made Ridiculously Simple book.

It is a godsend, really. That has been my bible for the bacteria/antibiotics block I am in now. Our next block is viral/fungi/other eclectic stuff not covered in immuno or bacteriology and I am guessing cinical micro made rid. simple is also going to be awesome for that, too.

At the end of each "block" are some really, really awesome charts. It has helped me to just straight up memorize those charts.

I dunno what your school suggested, but mine suggested medical microbiology. I sold it back, it's garbage compared to micro made simple.

Bump from the 6th page graveyard.

Three more weeks until spring break! Anyone have plans?

I am hoping to get as far away from my state as possible...

One week til spring break for me! Going with ~60 classmates to New Orleans for a "service trip" - aka work during the day, go out every night, and knock out a bunch of required service learning hours. Excited!

Thanks for bumping too...I miss this thread :' (

We had our "spring" break last week. Now it's back to biochem/immuno/genetics/microbio. Fun?

Everyone gets their break before me. :(

We come back to neuro, I am super pumped for it! It will start out systems blocks which we hopefully be more relative to.... actual patients, haha.

We had "spring break" last week (it was basically a 4-day weekend after two brutal weeks of exams). I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I hoped it could be.

I loved neuro! Check out "Neuroanatomy through clinical cases" by Hal Blumenfeld if you can. One of the few textbooks I've read and it's incredible. Lots of clinical correlations, patient cases to work through, etc, and way better than what my my school recommends (as usual).

We have our clinical medicine finals spread out over this month. 3 hrs of interviewing standardized patients, writing HPIs, answering MCQs based on what info you elicited in the history, etc. I hear it's not too bad though. And we've got immuno, human development (which is incredibly boring, IMO), and brain & behavior going on currently. I like immuno and B&B a lot so far. Pretty cool stuff.

I can't wait till summer though...so I can play ME3!

Just finished Physiology. I don't know if I know things. Lots of studying to do this summer due to my slacking during school (and injury which caused me to miss 2 weeks of physio class+studying.)

I assure you that you know some things, haha. Congrats on finishing phys and sorry to hear about the injury.

Only 4 days?! Wow, thats really not long enough. And I feel you, the weekend after an exam I cannot force myself to do anything but laundry and grocery shopping. I literally spent 12 hours on saturday doing nothing but napping, playing old school pokemon on my droid, and watching stuff off the DVR.

I really like our "immuno" blocks so far, in the last of three now.

Your doctoring school classes sound really intense... wow.

Mine is the last week of March. I'm actually hoping to shadow an REI specialist that Monday, but the hubster took off work for the rest of the week and the kids are going to still be in daycare. Amaaaaaaaaazing. All we've got planned so far is a movie/early dinner date of The Hunger Games and sushi.

Spring semisemester highlights:

Finished Mass Effect 3 right before midterm.
"Ventilated" a patient while they were getting a Btk amputation.
Becoming part of like the 250th US guild to kill heroic Warmaster, or something.
Pho in Grenada.
Becoming the Immuno professor's pet.
Physiology midterm in 4 hours.

And yes one of the patients who needed ortho surgery after getting a machete to the forearm developed a Staph infection... too bad medical students don't actually do anything important, but being around the decision-making process in real situations is pretty cool...

i have my facebook privacy settings so that only friends of friends can even find my profile by searching. but i got bored today and stupidly clicked the 'find friends' button on my phone's facebook app (searches thru your phone's contacts list/address book for phone numbers connected to facebook accounts). didn't friend any of them, but fml, now my booty calls are seeing me as a suggested friend and are trying to add me...

...it's funny what i am willing to post on here but not on facebook, and what i am willing to post on facebook but not here

Hahahahaha! Yeah, I don't mess around with that.

You're right though, some things I'm okay posting here, others go to FB and/or Twitter.

I know what you mean!! I freaked out this summer when FB changed that option and started suggesting you (or suggesting me hook ups and ex's) if you put your number on Facebook. IIRC you can still keep your number on your profile, and limit to whomever you want, but you can still turn off the suggest friends via mobile number some how. I think you need to tell Facebook on your mobile device to not sync contacts with your phone. Only downside is you don't get their profile pic as their contact photo on your phone (I used to get that on blackberry but it doesn't seem to work that way on iPhone, but then again I turned that thing off).

Ugh, springbreak ended today. Kind of excited to use neuroanatomy through clinical case studies....

Why is this thread so dead?!?!! Last post was last month. Step up your game, guys!

That's pretty bad, even for us. I blame biochem - but it's over. YEAH!

Sorry I haven't been posting guys. Gauntlet of final exams starts next week! :(

On the plus side, summer break starts in a week and a half! I think my summer here may actually be longer than what I had in undergrad.

lucky bastard... we just started our third block, so we're having our first round of exams this week. We don't finish until mid-June.

Our comprehensive final exam for the year is tomorrow, we had our last set of finals last week. This is akin to midieval torture.

But, I am looking forward to clinical and volunteer work.

My in-laws are going to come watch the kids for a week and the hubs and I are going on a cruise together in June! WOOOOOOT!

I would rather dropout than do biochem again. Congrats on getting through it!

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using SDN Mobile

Actually, tutoring Biochem again with Physio and Genetics and new understanding makes me happy.

Stupid "shelf" exams, I got one of those too :(

Clinical work is kinda fun, but it all depends on your preceptors. Having 60 year old surgeons from Cuba who speak in Spanish and tell you to get in the corner of the room... yeah I'd rather be listening to lectures, or doing questions.

I got over medical volunteering a long time ago. Social volunteering is more rewarding, simply because you feel like you're being curbed in responsibilities.

Yeah... not expecting that kind of experience. Both are school requirements - clinicals to practice H&Ps and social volunteering to explore the community determinants of health. But, thanks for that input I guess?
