Class of 2019!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's amazing!!!!! I want to hang it on my wall!!! Where did it come from!?
Cyberdyne's pictures don't come from anywhere. He just HAS them. Somehow always relevant and with just enough Taylor Swift!

You sir, are awesome. And yeah yeah fine you're right :p :) thank you so much!!!!

YESSSSSS SUNFLOWAH! It's also the first time we have an interview overlap! (But I see you'll be going in December... I am legit-ly saddened that I probably won't meet you on the trail. :( ).

It's nice to see all this action still going on. @turayza has been getting a backlog of IIs and I think @nOchemallday is destined for many many more. UVA is historically very fast with their IIs, so if you're just getting feedback from them right now, I'm betting plenty of schools haven't even seen your app yet!

I'm also hoping that after October 15th there's more love to go around. I think plenty of people will be withdrawing from pending interviews if they get accepted.

THANK YOU!! :) I'm seriously really upset by that too! Argh!!! But the cycle is still young and I'm not giving up hope :)

I think there is still a lot more excitement to come! It's been quiet lately, but the cycle is far from over!!!!! Congrats to @turayza and @nOchemallday and everyone else on recent news! And to those still waiting, never give up hope! :)

D'awwwww :) I love it!!!!!

1. Is Walking Dead a really good series? I'm trying to find a new series to binge watch lol.
2. I agree, it's been quiet today. All I've done today is peruse MU Med's website haha.

It's pretty good although I'd say I'm pretty biased :p there's one season that wasn't as good, but overall it is decent!

I recommend the following shows:
The Americans
Homeland
Breaking Bad (of course)
Sons of Anarchy
The Bridge
Alias (an older show, but seasons 1-3 are amazing and I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix)
And of course 24 (you can skip season 6-lol)

For dramas and so on, I highly recommend Hannibal, True Detective, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Sherlock, and Breaking Bad.

For something more comedic, but still clever, I recommend Community and Archer (and Curb Your Enthusiasm).

I'm also really into the latest avatar (the last airbender) show, Legend of Korra!

Hmm what else to recommend... Well, what do you like? Any scifi? I really liked Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Firefly, Star Trek of course...

Oh I can't help but get in on this:
Dramas: Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Sherlock, The Wire (still haven't finished it though, so can't totally vouch).
Comedies: Parks and Rec, The Office (Seasons 2~~6?, the first and last ones are kinda iffy), HIMYM (skip season 9 altogether, it's terrible), Chuck, Freaks and Geeks, Community, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory (although I stopped watching after 4 seasons because of this), etc.

Duh! How can I forget about the Wire and House of Cards!
The Wire's weakest seasons were 2 and 5 IMO. Although, that doesn't necessarily make them bad. They're just not up to par with the others. The Wire paints a very vivid picture of inner city life in America.
Perhaps someone here will enroll at Hopkins :D

Interesting. BBT is one of my favorite shows and I just read that article. I see the point it makes, and I agree that the show sometimes relies on simply naming a pop culture reference for laughs rather than really making a joke out of it. But I'd have to disagree that we're only supposed to relate to Penny and laugh at the guys. The they make just as much fun of Penny's "dumb blonde"ness as they do of the guys' nerdiness. I think that's the point of the show - when they meet, the characters start out so different that they might as well come from separate species, each with their own quirks and flaws that are funny in opposite ways. When they come together, they sort of balance each other out. Okay maybe I'm reading way too much into this... Everyone, go watch BBT!

I also just started watching HOW to get aWAY with MURder, and although it's very Shonda Rhimes-y, it's a lot of fun.

I keep myself on a pretty strict TV intake diet ('cause when I start to marathon, I can't stop) but the few shows I've loved enough to actually re-watch certain episodes include: Game of Thrones, Firefly, House of Cards, Parks & Rec, Hannibal, True Detective, Arrested Development (though last season was a let down :(), and – though I haven't kept up with them religiously – the Daily Show, Colbert Report, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. My guilty pleasures are Archer and Adventure Time.

I have mixed feelings about Orange is the New Black, but that didn't keep me from watching all the episodes ;) and I have yet to start Breaking Bad or Walking Dead... I think that'll be my winter holiday treat.

I also grew up watching a lot of the (now somewhat older) BBC comedies (That Mitchell & Webb Look, Father Ted, Black Books, IT Crowd, Blackadder, etc.). I think I remember discussing this skit with @infinitessimal :

Btw, @hellanutella, I just returned from my physiatrist's office (at Sinai) and I thought of you! I hope you get that acceptance very soon!

AHHHH THAT'D BE A DREAM COME TRUE. Aren't the Sinai facilities gorgeous? Thank you! Hope the NYC weather hasn't been too dreary as of late.

I know these things are often difficult to predict, but when do you anticipate on applying?

I'm hoping it's 2016. It sucks because I have very little control over it. I'll pm you later with more details.

Sinai is fantastic! And it's great that I actually found a good physical specialist there. We're both very happy with my progress (I'm optimistic that this positive trend will continue).

I actually like the semi-dreary weather. I remember you mentioning that you're a fan of rain. And obviously, there is more of that here than in SoCal!

We have identical taste in comedy shows!

I also love New Girl, The Mindy Project, and Girls. And Game of Thrones.

@hellanutella HAHAHA yessssss that is what we were talking about. I love that faculty interviewers have this sense of humor as well.

@sunflower18 Mindy Project is my favorite comedy at the moment. Honestly, it is the only show that can make me completely forget about my problems and just laugh for 20 minutes straight. Sometimes I have to pause and rewind for an especially delicious joke. They've really found their footing with this season.

HTGWM is an amazing drama. I love it!

I guess I follow dramas with a smaller fan following. I was hooked on ABC's "Ressurection" and "Once Upon a Time", and (a little embarassed ) Lifetime's "The Lottery" and "Witches of East End" was also very gripping!

This week is really stressful and off to a rocky start, so I'm definitely just going to go home right after class and watch hours of sitcoms. Responsibilities and homework? Nah. Modern Family, Parks & Rec, and HIMYM? Yes!!!

Oh no Sunflower! Hope the 15th makes up for that rocky start. ;) Are you guys in the midst of midterms right now?

My workplace doesn't acknowledge Columbus Day (which is fine in my book – Christopher C. was a real scumbag), but it means I'm back in the lab... oafing about SDN between time-points. On the upside I managed to secure hosts for my next two interviews (wooo!) and will be taking a red-eye on the 15th... hopefully that'll make me too tired to fret over admissions decisions.

Hopefully your week will get much better on Wednesday! (just like @hellanutella said)

Personally, I have three exams this week and I just cannot find the motivation to study......

Thanks!!! I hope so too!!! But after looking more in depth at school threads, I think I'll only be hearing from 1-2 schools on the 15th... Not quite the 5 I was hoping for! But I'm excited all the same.

Nope, midterms were two weeks ago. Thank goodness!!! My school doesn't acknowledge Columbus Day either so I'm in class today. Congrats on the hosts! That's a definite relief!! Ooohh like a flight Tuesday night? Or Wednesday night? That's exciting but also rough! I'm taking a red eye Thursday night so I empathise. Where are you headed this time? I'm so excited because this means more summaries are on the way soon! ;) :)

I'm on fall break right now! So I'm super relaxed. Also, CU is officially releasing on Wednesday, which makes me hopeful!

And congrats to @Ace Khalifa on EVMS! :)

@claduva94 so much jelly. Hope the 15th makes this a most memorable fall break! Colorado would be silly not to snatch you up.

@sunflower18 I'm heading out to Hopkins! Looks like I'll be getting mostly sun in Baltimore, so I look forward to catching some nice pictures of the shiny, shiny medical buildings. I take it this is not a good week for me to start watching The Wire...

At least you have Brown in the 17th! Good luck with that redeye... where are you off to?

Enjoy Hopkins! The Wire can wait-lol. It's definitely not the best pro-Baltimore propaganda

Yes, I'm excited for Brown decisions :) but nervous! Goodness!

Claduva is quite right -- off to Vermont! So exciting!! Hopefully we can celebrate his CU acceptance with ice cream ;)

Ahh only two more days left (well, 1.5 now)! I feel like I only applied yesterday, yet here's Oct 15 already... I'm terrified and excited at the same time. Really eager to see what news all of us hear in the coming weeks - good luck to everyone!

That's awesome that you guys are going to be off traveling and interviewing again so soon (it's a good distraction right now, for sure)! I'm heading off to Temple next week (last scheduled interview, so that might be it for me haha), and will be visiting some friends in the area which is going to be such a nice treat. Now to somehow survive this week... with impending decisions, as well as an upcoming exam that I'm woefully underprepared for, it's hard to concentrate and I just want it to be the weekend again!

@claduva94, good luck with the CU decision!! I'm going to be in Denver for a conference in November, so I'm excited to see the city and explore a bit - it seems like a great state to live in and attend med school in! If you have any suggestions for things to see (or EAT more importantly! ;)) let me know!

Eeeeek. USC is already doling out waitlists. The game is afoot...

I normally don't stoop to superstition, but I found a Keck cup in the communal lab kitchenware drawer this morning and had to adopt it. Really hoping USC gives me a little bit 'o love this week.

Eeeeeek! I believe in you!!!

Although to be perfectly honest, even though it would make me sad to get a waitlist, I would rather get waitlisted now than waitlisted in a few days... If I heard now, then I would know to stop being anxiously hopeful, you know? Plus it's going to be sad to excitedly check email on October 15th only to find a waitlist or rejection sitting there :( Gah! I can't think like that!

All you guys are awesome :) Excited to hear all of your good news!!

@spockprime How long will you be there? And will you have a car? Depending on that I can vary my suggestions for you!

I will be hearing from a school in less than 24 hours too! They "accidentally" release decisions 6 hours early. So the stress is real!
