Wow!! @turayza!!
Congrats on Cornell!! Sadly, the last time you were here, NYC only made you feel like a hundred bucks.
ts_100_bill.jpg

And you need to feel like a million bucks this time around! Especially, since it's Cornell!! Feel free to hit me up if you want a tour of the area!

LOL! I came on here to gush about @sunflower18! She beat me for first comment though, but I am so touched by her kind words  What a sweetheart, she'd fit right in here! She is so eloquent and thoughtful, and we had a great time sharing poetry and Thai food (no pictures, sorry, too busy talking about life) :D

Haha, I hadn't seen those before, but they're great! Loved the Usual Suspects routine! Any House of Cards fans here? A while ago I found these mock medical videos in the style of HoC, which were great. This is the second video with a patient:

While sharing funny videos... I've always liked those Llamas with Hats videos (four total I think). My friend and I will occasionally burst out with a "caaaaarrrrlll" when especially distressed. :p (Er, this might portray my occasional dark sense of humor )

Ugh, my flight yesterday got delayed a few hours, so didn't get back home until almost 4 am last night, and I had to be at work at 8:30 this morning. A venti mocha is helping me through the day but I'm about to spend half the weekend asleep lol.

Is this Emory? I didn't interview there, but I had a group interview at Northwestern.

Mine was super low-key and fun. It was 2 interviewees and 1 MS4 interviewer. I don't know if it was unique to my particular interviewer, or structured into the interview itself, but we were asked random non-medical questions (ex: if you ran away to join the circus, what would you do there?). We would alternate between my fellow interviewee and myself responding first. In the end, it became sort of a three-way conversation.
Pretty sure we had the same MS-4 interviewer haha.

Gah! I'm so sorry!!! I've had some long travel days this week too so I feel you. Good luck! You can do it! :)

Loved University of Iowa! It would be great to get good news in a month!

Superstars? Have you looked at your MDapps? You're doing stellar!

Excited for the 15th? The UMich thread always explodes the night of the 14th... they seem really prompt with their decisions. Good luck! :luck: I'm sure you're going to be getting an inbox brimming with good news!

I got the "which act would you be at the circus" thing too... and also "what part of a bicycle would you be" lol!

...those have got to be standardised questions because I got both and I think we had different completely different interviewers. Ooops. Spoiler alert @No Limits!

Not a fan of the bicycle one. I went with "the basket on front that you put your groceries and/or small dog in."

OMG yes!! I loveeee Bryan Cranston!!!!!!!!
Honestly.. I will def get emotional and cry a bit. I was really stressed last year when I had zero interviews. It will shred any amount of self doubt I have.

Thanks! Very excited and nervous. I think they released decisions circa 12:00 a.m. last year. I won't be sleeping much that night, regardless of the outcome.

Finally joining the Interview trail. UVA here I come!

This might be a dumb question...but when you guys say October 15th, you mean the night of the 15th (waiting for midnight), right? I thought acceptances could only be released starting on October 16th.

Good luck to everyone waiting on decisions this week! We've all come a long way since we submitted our AMCAS application way back when :p

Nope. Many of us will partake in an unhealthy neurotic ritual of checking emails and phones throughout the 15th haha

Some schools release decisions on the 15th.

interviewed with at least two other SDNers today. Our cohort killed it (although I might have floundered in my faculty interviews) #sdnusersunite

And if anyone else is remotely curious about a neurosurgery curriculum, feel free to check out this attachment

Yeah....the fact that neurosurg requires you to learn all that crap turns me off from considering it as a career choice. Neuroscience and cranial anatomy weren't my favorite topics in upper level bio.

EDIT: I didn't particularly enjoy learning about innervation and action potentials either.

Totally understandable. It's obviously not for everyone. But some ppl absolutely love it. And we do need that select few to pursue this field.

What an odd question!! Let me think out loud here:

The handles (steering) - The Leader/Visionary
Wheels (go places, make the team functional) - The "Basis"
Seat (unglamorous yet critical) - The "Glue"
Pedals (unglamorous but active and very important) - The "Manpower"
Brakes (cautious) - The Skeptic
Basket (an accessory, but very helpful, unique, and brings new perspectives to the table) - The Specialist

I hope I didn't miss any aspects :) Yes, I totally overanalyzed this topic :p

@sunflower18, I am so happy you loved it here and got to visit!!!

Hahaha see I would choose the bell!Because I am vocal and like to communicate with others. I find it important to ensure that everyone is on the same page, which bells do by alerting other people on the road that you exist!

Awww thank you so much!!! I'm so glad I was able to visit and meet you!!!
