Agreed with adagio on this. it's not about greed but about the competitiveness of the field and also personal interest at certain programs.

I personally cancelled 6 interviews and I am planning to go to 14 interviews and potentially one more program (USC) if I have interview invite there.

If someone has 2 interviews and you have none, maybe they got lucky.

If someone has 20 interviews and you have none, they have clearly EARNED them. They have worked their butts off and should be able to do whatever they want without being made to feel guilty for it.

Anyone interview at banner Good Samaritan Phoenix VA yet? There's barely any info on the program and their website is very limited...
 
What do yall know about Temple in Philly? Is it a strong program; ie- should I book an expensive last-minute flight to interview?
 
Hi this is my first post and I have been following this forum since start. I am unfortunately among the people who have not got any interviews. Hats off to some great ppl here and I agree you all deserve every bit of every iv you have earned. For me getting GI would be the only dream, irrespective of wherever. So as I understand the season is over and only hope to get ivs is if ppl cancel their invites. Again i would not put words like "greed" etc, its all in good faith, especially canceling those ivs that are pretty much waste for you guys given your double digit interviews. I do not know if there is a magic number to match, but i do not see you guys actually able to interview more than 10-12 programs? but thats just me.
So it would be very helpful, if people can come up with a list of programs that they have cancelled or are planning to cancel their interviews, as it could benefit somebody like me or in the same boat.

Agree that it comes down to what you're looking for/interested in and what program suits you individually. USNews is notoriously flawed and among other reasons, to lump GI Surgery with GI is completely absurd.

A rough top 10 of all-around great programs I agree with @armstud for the most part, in no particular order I gathered
Brigham, MGH, Hopkins, UPenn, Sinai, Duke, UNC, UPMC, Michigan, UCLA, UCSF
 
The Mayo Clinic program is certainly leading, and should be in that list. imho

You're prob right. Again, just what I hear and perceive. Don't think anyone in their right mind would think any less of Mayo!
But back to IVs - congrats to all who have gotten them, and for those still waiting wishing everyone the best.

Large clinical volume, will scope a ton. Will come out a good gastroenterologist.

Anyone get an ERAS notification from Jackson Memorial? I just dont get why they would send notifications when the system is down. Same thing happened with EMORY then it was a rejection!

Yea they asked about date preferences. They are going to send an email as well. Don't panic!
