All these spiders are making me want to cry.

Oh I really want the mad cow one too. My cat likes to play with rabies, I don't know why he likes that one specifically, but they're all on the same shelf and he only ever pulls that one down.

I normally am fairly creeped out by spiders and even I have to admit the peacock spider is kind of cute. Still does not mean I want it in my house though.

Spiders are disgusting. If I find a spider, it dies... I have only ever once made an exception to this rule and that was for a spider living in my window between the outside and the inside. He had built a web and was catching all of the gnats... Since he didn't come inside, I allowed him to stay.

Any spider inside the apartment, gets instant death if I see it.

I actually kind of wish the giant plush microbes people would make a plush demodex.

I have sarcoptes, heartworm, and e. Coli. My dogs ate my tapeworm. I also have a stuffed pancreas.

It's possible, fear can have that effect
I'm actually somewhat arachnophobic. I think they are pretty and I respect them but I don't want them on me. I've gotten way better. I won't freak if a little one is on me, but I'm working my way up to handling a tarantula. I used to get an accelerated heart rate from holding one in a plastic lidded container, now I can do that calmly. I won't ever kill one though, they kill other bugs that I hate, like mosquitos and stink bugs, so the spiders can live.

Spiderbros get a "cup and piece of paper" escort out of my home. I appreciate their efforts in ridding the place of other insects, but would prefer they keep up the good work outside. Roaches, on the other hand... ugh.

Garden centipedes die in my house. I tend to let most spiders go and escort other insects outside. But after one centipede tried to kill me from my ceiling while I was in my bed, they no longer get that courtesy.

Anyone else had the privilege of dealing with a scorpion in the house?

That is always umm... interesting. They always die. Not allowing them to live.

I have a deal with spiders in my place of residence: I don't see you, you get to live. Once you're out and visible natural selection must occur and a stealthier spider will have to take your place because you're out.

No and this is like my biggest fear if I end up out in AZ...which is a possibility.

Really will depend on where in AZ if you have to worry about this. In the 20+ years I spent in my parents house, we never had a scorpion.

My aunt's house which is more in central Phoenix and close to more of an open desert area, she gets scorpions every once in a while.

You'll have to let me know if you end up in Arizona and where at... I can give directions and suggestions for good places to eat. Well, that is, if you like spicy Mexican foods. :)

I'm down in southern AZ, but we get scorpions quite often at my parents house. Probably at least five a year. They live in a more open desert area of the city though. They get all kinds of creatures at their house. We've seen javalina, TONS of (rattle)snakes, coyotes, all kinds of hawks and owls, one summer we even had a momma bobcat and her two babies living in our yard. My apartment has nothing though, but that's because I am downtown in the city.

Boo. I tried to post a picture of one of the baby bobcats we had. I don't know why it didn't work.

Edit: woo success!

Yeah it really does depend on where you live. However, even in the area I grew up in, we still regularly saw owls, hawks, and coyotes. I know there are bobcats around the area too. We have never seen a snake but there are desert areas nearby where I am sure they exist. Add in the black widow spiders, the lizards, geckos, etc...

There is quite a wide variety of wildlife around. Definitely have a greater opportunity seeing them in the less populated areas of the state and in areas that are adjacent to open desert areas or near any of the mountains.

Good to know I'm not alone! During the first few days of school, a classmate of mine was talking about how she releases all bugs she finds in her house outside. I had some self-reflection after that thinking I was some sort of monster :p

If I end up there, it'd be around Tuscon. I was originally also looking at an internship near Chandler, but then decided I didn't want to deal with the commute between the 3 hospitals I'd have to go to since I imagined traffic would be bad since I'd have to go north of Phoenix if I remember correctly.

If you have any questions about Tucson, I can give you tons of info! I've been here since I was four. :)

I don't kill bugs. Don't like the squishy-crunchy feeling.

So I knock them down to floor level and sic the dog on them. Works like a charm every time.

Depends on where around for the commute, could be bad if going into Phoenix, but if you are heading out west, you will be in the opposite direction of most of the traffic. But travelling between three clinics would get old. I would have to know where all three locations are to know just how bad the commute would be. I wouldn't want to be split between three locations because that is three different groups of doctors and techs to get accustomed to as well.

Tucson is further south than where I grew up by about 2 hours. So, I don't know much around the area, but I sure can find out and I can help with directions near and around the Phoenix area if you do end up out there and are in the Phoenix area ever.

The last time I allowed my cat to go after the spider because she found it... she smacked the spider off the bathroom door and watched it come running right towards me and didn't do a damn thing about it... :yeahright:

We had a couple the years I lived in texas. I tried to paper and cup the first one, he crawled away way too fast and scared me, so from then on they got the shoe. Thankfully they were all tiny.

My cats pretty much only deal with moths and other flying bugs for me, won't go after anything terrestrial. e.e

I got my dog to eat a small garden centipede that way. Then I got really grossed out. He'd totally do it again though. I'm sure he's gotten a ton of spiders because all he does is "hoover" the house. He tries to snatch flies and bees out of the air too.

We were collecting field samples this summer from a mountain area with cougars, bears, and moose known to be nearby. Everything had a 'if you see this, do this' rule except the cougars. For them, it was 'you probably won't see one, but if you do, you're probably screwed.' Are bobcats not the same way? Because having any sort of big cat with babies nearby just sounds terrifying to me. Very cute, but terrifying.

Bobcats are significantly smaller, and I have never heard of them attacking anyone like I have mountain lions. We don't have those near us thank goodness, they are beautiful, but dangerous! Bobcats are more of a risk to small pets than anything. Mostly they spent their time up in a big tree, so we just would just avoid that part of the yard for the two weeks they were there. It was a pretty cool experience.:)

I just found out that there was a McDonald's Monopoly game going on at the time of my parents' wedding (27 years ago). During the wedding craziness, my grandma went to McDonald's, found a ticket worth the 1 million dollar prize, and lost it.

:arghh:

You guys, I almost had wealthy relatives. :(

Shout out to David Bowie with my favorite song of his... I woke up this morning at 6 AM and HLN was still on from my forensic files binge of last night, and the first things that I heard were "in breaking news, David Bowie, legendary pop singer, dies at age 69 last night. Also, a freak tornado tears through south Florida, causing millions of dollars in damage". It's safe to say that I woke up 10 times faster than normal to see if it was really true... So sad! Cancer sucks!
