Yes yes yes manifesting for @cardamom23!!

In case anyone is on waitlist and curious, I have one remaining pre-requisite that will finish in EOApril/Beginning of May. My friend who also was waitlisted IS Tier 3, she is in the same class as me. This is only an assumption: INstate Tier 3 may be folks who have in-progress courses.

I'm also tier 3 waitlisted but I don't have anything in progress.

I am also tier 3 and have one class in progress!

as a tier 4 soldier, I have 0 hopes of getting in 🙁(((

Hopping back on here to wish everyone OOS and IS a HUGE CONGRATS on their acceptances! And for those waitlisted from someone who was this time last year, please don't give up hope! For reference, I was OOS prelim pool tier 2 and got pulled in May and they were pulling people from tier 4 secondary pool also at that same time. If you guys have any questions about WSU, Pullman, life in general as vet student, moving cross country etc., please don't hesitate to reach out--it is easier for me to respond more quickly if you dm me as I'm not always checking this page between exams and class, etc 😉

Also, reposting this from what I wrote a little while back...

Just a gentle reminder here, please be kind and thoughtful of your peers and future colleagues. If you have multiple acceptance letters in hand, congrats! You did it and should be incredibly proud! Do take time to discern, weigh your decision, etc. It's a huge decision to make for sure and exciting position to be in. But also be mindful that someone else is likely waiting to hear back and this might be the only school they have a shot at or possibly the last cycle they are putting forward an app I was literally that person (15 seats away from an acceptance letter in hand on first cycle for different school before class closed and then waiting to get off waitlist until May for WSU and trust me it sucks being in limbo At the same time it literally is the best feeling knowing when you give up a seat, someone else's dreams are being made by way of your actions!

Hi all! I'm currently on Tier 1 of the OOS waitlist. Can anyone speak to their experience being Tier 1 OOS in past cycles? Any idea how many people could be in each tier? WSU is currently my top choice -- crossing my fingers. Thank you!

I was tier 1 OOS last year and got my acceptance within a couple of days after the decision deadline in April. Not sure how many people were in each tier, but I believe people from tiers 2, 3, and 4 were accepted.

Guys please helpppp! I got waitlisted for the secondary screening non-ranked one. What does that mean???? what are the chancers like?

I'll be taking my name off the OOS waitlist (Tier 3) because I have committed to another school. It's been a wild ride, happy to have gone through it with all of you. Good luck!

From what I understand (I could be wrong) its basically a list after the waitlist. So they'll offer whatever seats they have left to the waitlisted people if they have some seats left then they'll begin with the secondary screening list.

I see. I am confused because the email I was sent said that it is independent of the tiered waitlist, and you should see this waitlist as optimism because history has shown people getting in with this waitlist every year.

I'm not sure how they're structuring it this year. To my knowledge last year we also had a secondary screening waitlist, but I don't think people were told whether they were on the primary screening or secondary screening list. I think that is new this year. So it's hard to make predictions based on previous years since it's not exactly the same.

Okay, thank you so much! I hope I get in lmao

Howdy! This is my first app cycle so thanks for helping me understand…has anyone from the InState waitlist moved yet? Or are those 17 remaining seats all folks who were offered admission? Thank you for any additional context! And congrats to those accepting their seats. 🐾

Any accepted Hawai’i WICHE applicants in here that have heard back (funding approval) from the WICHE office? Basically the biggest deciding factor between what program I commit to. I’ve been ghosted at multiple attempts to contact the office….

Hi!! I believe the 17 remaining seats are those that have not yet committed but were accepted. I don’t know if there will be any movement, especially on the IS waitlist, until after April 15!

Hi! I am an out of stater planning to attend the accepted students day at the end of the month, but I am having some trouble with transportation. My flight is set to arrive at Spokane at 11:40pm on Thursday. Unfortunately, this is after all the Thursday buses and the earliest bus won't get me to campus until 10 am.

Will anyone else be arriving or passing through Spokane late Thursday or Early Friday be interested in car pooling or something? Does anyone have other tips on what I can do?

Can you change your flight? The Pullman Moscow airport would be more convenient and you wouldn’t have yo pay for overnight stay.

I agree with macgowsy, PUW would be more convenient. It just has more limited flight availability and can be more expensive in my experience.

When I visited Pullman for the first time I flew into Spokane and got a rental car for the drive. If you can afford it that might be a good option too.

Anyone know the best route for finding housing? I just downloaded Facebook again (yuck) so hoping for a quick link to the right FB group to inquire or any alternative that isn't Facebook!

There at least used to be an internal housing packet that was popular sent out by the recruitment team. Unsure if it's still a thing or not

Well...I may or may not be avoiding studying rn for 2 exams next week lol but figured I jump back on to help some of ya'll out (and also trick my brain into being productive 😅🤓🤣)

If you are like me, I knew like nothing about Pullman or the better part of WA before starting at WSU. So here more or less is a guide I built for myself to get you started:
  • Pullman itself is very safe, quiet place. Unless you are living in Moscow, ID or Colfax, WA about 30ish min away, most "off-campus" housing options are usually within 5-10 minute drive from campus. It's a college town next to another college town.
    • Off campus areas made up of 4 directional letters (see map attached in hyperlink)
      • Military Hill (NW)
        • Includes young people and families
        • Offers park and larger lots
      • Pioneer Hill (SE)
        • Nicer part of town
        • Farther from main undergraduate student housing areas
      • Sunnyside Hill (SW)
        • Generally quiet
        • Relatively good housing prices
        • Some newer developments alongside older neighborhoods
      • College Hill (NE)
        • Where majority of undergrads live and lots of student housing available in this area ("Apartmentland")
        • Greek row (i.e., fraternities) where lot of parties often occur and likely to not be as quiet
  • In general from what I've seen online in my own searches (not from personal experience), steer clear of the following areas
    • DRA (age old rule)
    • Timberline on the Green (formerly the Ruckus)
    • Heritage Reality
    • Helene's
    • Pine Ridge
    • Greek Row
  • Most people live off-campus either through private leaser (through postings on FB WSU CVM Classified page, etc.), DABCO properties, and/or local trailer park. There is also a separate page on Confluence once ya'll have access that lists advertisements from current, graduating veterinary students and former landlords of veterinary students.
    • Honestly, if I were you FB is prob your best bet for finding available housing. Page on Confluence I referenced just also didn't appear to be as active. I'd expect more postings as we get closer to summer too since 4th years will be moving on and people will be in need of roommates, etc.
  • You guys will prob get information too about parking (especially if you are someone who plans on driving to campus everyday). I'm not well versed enough in this area since I don't have one...but most people I talk to really say getting parking permits aren't worth it (i.e., limited number, you might get a spot but be VERY far away from VTH/vet school campus since it goes by seniority, expensive, and game-day events sort of prevent you from even using your permit like you would normally)
    • To that end, WSU does have inter-city bus system (paid for with student fees) that runs pretty regularly but you'll for sure want to factor in location of bus stops in relation to where you will be living. Coming from someone who both lived and went to undergrad in areas previously with access to mass transit, trains, etc. they are okay but honestly imo run kind of slow lol
    • Plenty of people in my class also carpool too and student services has been good about trying to work with us around our lab schedule especially this semester to that end.
    • Parking also providing it is not a game-day is free after certain hours (i.e., after 5PM) too and you can pay for day passes pretty cheaply (i.e., $1.00 per hour) though AMP app (warning though it may/may not be reliable since service on any given day can be spotty 🙁). I only point this out since you guys will have access to open-anatomy lab and many people go after classes, at night etc. Either way, I've found it pretty safe on campus walking alone at night especially since vet school buildings/lecture halls are pretty local to one area.
  • I know someone previously was also asking about local airports. And while yes, Pullman-Moscow Airport exists, it is (1) very small and solely domestic airport so less flights etc., (2) FAR more expensive than what you would pay just booking airfare through Spokane International Airport. There is a bus that runs (Northwestern Stage Lines) back/forth from Pullman to Spokane International Airport but you'd have to coordinate bus schedule/flights etc. same day/upon return.
Anywho...hope you all find this helpful! Feel free to dm me if you have questions but otherwise back to studying for now lol

Yeahhh, as someone with a parking permit, I agree. Idk if I would say it's worth it for everyone.

I got the yellow 4 permit for like $415 for the school year. The closest yellow 4 lot to the vet campus is about a 10 minute walk. The way our parking permits work is you pay for a certain tier and that allows you to park in that lot type plus all "lower" lot types (i.e. I can park in yellow 4 and all red lots but NOT green lots or other yellow lots). It's kind of confusing but the parking website describes it better. The parking lots closest to the vet campus are green (I don't remember the number, I think 2?) and are like $700. The green lot outside our main buildings fills up super fast in the morning so many people with that permit end up parking in the yellow 4 lot anyway.

Imo it's been worth it for me. I go home over lunch to eat and let my dog out, and it's definitely more convenient than using the bus for that reason. I live a little too far to walk to campus regularly, but I would do that instead if it was feasible. I chose the yellow 4 permit instead of the green permit because I'm willing to walk a little further each day to save $300, but I guess I can see how people would rather just pay the full $700 for the extra convenience.

Plus I guilt myself into going to lecture in-person every day by asking myself, "Do I really want to forfeit the $3 I technically pre-paid for parking for today?" lmao

This is SO HELPFUL!!! Thank you!

Hi guys! A friend and I are looking for a 3rd roommate for this upcoming year. We have found a few house options that include many amenities (e.g., in-unit washer and dryer, yard, off-road parking, etc). Your rent would be approx. $500- $700, depending on the house, plus utilities. I have one dog (see profile pic), and my roommate does not have any pets living in the house. NO CATS, unfortunately. Message me if you're interested and for more details 🙂

Edit: the house we are heavily considering would make your rent $550 plus utilities 🙂 and you will have your own bathroom

I wonder if the admission team already reaching out to the waitlisted people... The remaining seats are going down fast🥲
