I called loyola today for a status check, and a lady told me that my file has already been reviewed once and is set to be reviewed again...

so does the initial review mean I passed some type of post-secondary screening, or do they say this to everyone?

thanks

That means, you have not been rejected, but they are keeping your application for another review at another time. Probably because your application, when compared with other present applications did not merit an interview, so they will keep you for the next pool, and review you again.

So...does anyone actually know if they reject people after only reviewing their secondary? Or do they put everyone that they reviewed but do not offer interviews in the "re-review" pile?

I would imagine that they would reject people who are totally not qualified... but then again, they only send secondaries out to people they are interested in, so you might just get the re-review pile for a while, so I guess that is a good thing.

Yeah, I heard from an MS1 that a lot of accepted applicants were actually put in the re-review pile several times before being interviewed.

I really hope this is true. My application has been complete for a long time, but I haven't heard anything from them since then. Should I send an update letter? or just keep waiting?

I would send a letter of interest/update and let them know you are still interested in their school. I am pretty sure this is true since most applicants are screened pre-secondary. How are your stats? And when were you complete and all? g'luck

so how stringent is their screening process?

I think its just a numbers screen primarily to get a secondary but I'm not sure.

Based purely on numbers I'm a 30 MCAT 3.62 GPA, 3.25 BCPM Poli-sci major. So the initial screen can't be super-selective.

A letter of interest is only sent if the school is your first choice, right? I'm definitly interested in Loyola but it is not my first choice but I would still like to let them know that I am still very interested in the school

we definitely do end up interviewing several people after "re-reviews" at loyola. as someone mentioned, it simply means that at the given round, other applicants were ranked above you...but, because we interview only 2-4 students each day (as opposed to 10-15 at many schools), there are less interview invites to go around each review round.

so, waiting sucks, but keep the faith that you're not in a "reject" pile - it's a legitimate re-review.

A letter of intent is if the school is your first choice, but you can send a letter of interest to any school, along with any updates.
